hello! I am graduating 5th year B. Arch student from the University of Tennessee Knoxville who grew up in the Nashville area for a majority of my life. Architecture has always been my career path ever since I can remember drawing homes in Kindergarten and being fascinated by house plans every time my family moved. The reason I enjoy designing is that it allows me to creatively cultivate the best out of a challenging scenario. I love a good challenge to try to come up with a interesting perspective on an existing problem. I am fascinated by the endless possibilities to making a community flourish through an intriguing

concept or program proposal. What I intrigues me the most about Architecture is its ability to challenge and promote a conversation about greater, overarching issues and using design as a vehicle to stroke the imagination. My design process relies heavily on sketching in order to create the project’s respective parti. I sketching in section as well as in perspective helps figure out all the experiences and moods the project should evoke. I keep a handy, dandy accent marker and pen ready for a spur of inspiration. Things that inspire me range from the human body, fashion, and sociology. Thanks,

Jonathan Ruiz
