The client organization acts as a mediator in two ways. The first being the more obvious, it connects Nebraska’s disabled to the care that they desperately and rightfully deserve. However, the second act of mediation comes in a less blatant form. They act as a personal liaison for those in need, and attempt to secure safe passage from a darker time to a brighter future. It is their mission to better the lives of their clients. After much thought, I came to the design conclusion of a bridge. Bridges are very symbolic images, and fit perfectly into NESILC’s mission statement. What better metaphor than a bridge to imply a positive change? Passing over dark waters to a better tomorrow. Not only that, bridges are structurally secure and sound objects. They are viewed as permanent fixtures in our lives. They are something that makes our world easier to traverse and navigate. I placed the image of the bridge on top of the typeface to provide a feeling of cemented trust, as if the organization is the foundation on which they may build their lives. I also provided two variations of the logo for convenience and flexibility. In the first version, the bridge spans the type as if to imply a start to finish emotion. The second, the bridge begins offset to the left of the type to give the implication that the current life situation of the client doesn’t matter, only the future is important.

Magazine Publication DESCRIPTION
A project open to interpretation, with a few guidelines and an overall expectation. The goal was to create a magazine, including a cover page as well as a few spreads. For my magazine, I decided to center it around the theme of Space Pirates with a grungy, futuristic feel to it.
