COMMENIUS MEETING IN ALVERCA, PORTUGAL 10th – 13th October, 2011 AGENDA : Day 1 - 10 October 2011 (Monday) (9h20) - All delegations arriving to Lisbon airport and in the next day they started to save energy by coming to our school in Alverca by train. In the School the reception was made in the Library, with the participation of our Headmaster of the School’s Committee and other members of local institutions (City Hall, P.T.A.). The reception counted with a group of students of a local Music School that played music to students and teachers.

After the official speeches we exchanged gifts between delegations and local government.

After these we show a video presentation of our school and students and teachers visited our school (classroom, laboratories, workrooms and others spaces) and take a little snack together.

(11h45)- After this visited we walked to a primary school called EB1/JI da Malva Rosa were our students prepare some gifts and dance to the delegation the traditional folklore music. First the students and then the teachers and students of all delegations.

(12h15) - The visitors went to one classroom and view how students and teachers work.

(13h30 – 14h30) It was lunch time at the refectory of our school. 14h30) – We started a work session were teacher were working in the activities of the Comenius project, analyzed the aims and goals of this project, the works that already done and to do according to project schedule, and students were with the art teacher, Teresa Ribeiro, producing works about saving energy and renewal energy.

Those are two of the work produced.

(19h00) End of the work session and back to the hotel. After dinner all delegations take a tour to Parque das Naçþes to talk about the project and the Expo exhibition of 1998.

Day 2 - 11rd October, 2011 (Tuesday): (9h30) The day started with a meeting point in Gare do Oriente in Parque das Nações.

(10h00) Visit of the Oceanário de Lisboa. The aim was to understand the balance and concern that we need to have to preserve the environment and the importance to save natural resources.

(12h00 – 14h00) The visitors take a free lunch in Vasco da Gama shopping center. (14:00) The participants visited the Electricity Museum and take a guide tour. The tour show how was produced energy with coal and the impact in the environment. Beside that they learn how important was that place in the history of Lisbon.

(15:30) We visited Mosteiro dos Jer贸nimos and, with a guide tour, teachers and students understand the history of the place and the importance of the place in our country history.

(17:30 – 21h00) At the end of the day, before dinner we decided to take a tour and visit to Benfica Football Satdium in Lisbon and then a dinner in Colombo Shopping Center, were some of our colleagues tried different types of food, like Portuguese and Israeli food.

Day 3 - 12rd October, 2011 (Wednesday): (9h30) Meeting Point at Parque das Nações in front of the hotel. 10h00) Visiting the Science Exhibit at Pavilhão do Conhecimento. In this visit students and teachers could take some experiences and activities involving energy, sound, wind and other subjects.

(12:00-13:30) Lunch time at Parque das Nações. (13h30 – 19h30) After lunch we decided to surprised teachers and students of the Comenius project making a visit throw a Eolic park and the to the ocean. We explained that our country is making a major investment in Eolic parks and since we have a large coast of ocean we decided to visited. Most of the visitors never see the Atlantic Ocean and then we talk about the project that Portugal have with the production of energy using ocean waves. 9/1

Day 4 - 13d October, 2011 (Thursday): The departure of the delegations: They were taken to the Lisbon Airport and were seen off to their countries.

THE OUTCOMES OF THE PROJECT 1. During the process of the project, in which the three schools of the European countries took part, a cultural communication took place between the teachers and the students. 2. All the participants had a chance to compare the similarities and the differences of the education systems, the physical conditions of schools, traditions and cultures between the countries. 3. Environment-consciousness was tried to be awaken by the help of traveling to natural areas and historical sites. The teachers and the students tried to find the answers of the question of what we can do for the sake of environment and earth. 4. By visiting and observing the historical and cultural areas, we tried to give information about the importance of the historical development and cultural features. 5. We tried to give information about the process of the production of energy and alternative sources of energy like hydro-power, solar energy and windmills. The ways of energy saving and keeping the environment clean were showed and taught.
