İstanbul

One interesting piece of information about Istanbul is that it lies on the border between Asia and Europe so that one part of Istanbul is in Europe while the other part of Istanbul is Asian. These two parts of Istanbul are divided by a stretch of water called the Bosphorus near the sea of Marmara. There are currently two bridges that connect Asian Istanbul to European Istanbul. Istanbul is still seen by many as the cultural heart of Turkey even if its not the capital; it is where the majority of business takes place with the largest sea port in Turkey being in Istanbul. A visitor to Istanbul can get a great view of both sides of the city from the bridges. It has a fascinating and rich history so if you are interested in visiting and learning new information about Istanbul you should plan to stay there for a few days at least.

General TELECOMMUNICATION Very advanced telecommunication systems of the world are used in Turkey. Communication by telephone, e-mail and fax to any part of the world from an office, hotel room is easy and available. There are telephone cabins located in numerous spots all over the country. Moreover, wireless telephones will be available upon request for the Organising Committee Members. VISA-FREE CIRCULATION OF SCIENTISTS There is no restriction to free circulation of scientists in Turkey. Although VISA is required for some countries, VISAS can be obtained at Istanbul Ataturk Airport for major countries.

“And the Winner Is… Istanbul” New York Times made a questionnaire among its readers in January 2011 and asked “where do you want to travel this year?” The result is announced as “And the winner is … Istanbul” The readers who recommended Istanbul repeated some themes; history! As mentioned in readers’ comment Istanbul is a city for all the senses that should be at the top of everyone's "go here now" list! The Sun says “Turkey” as well. According to the 5 traditional favorite destination to be taken in considiration list Turkey takes part at the top “as a warm vacation destination”

İ STANBUL IS THE NEW CONGRESS CENTER OF THE WORLD

Gliding economic axel of the world from east to west has increased the importance of Turkey’s location. This year Turkey will host many meetings concerning world peace and economy. Turkey is increasing its achievement day by day by combining technology and quality over international standards with professional congress companies presenting with AIIC standards of vehicle track. Istanbul, shown as one of the “10 first biggest cities”, has become the most important center that the corporations and foundations like UNITED NATIONS, UNESCO, OECD, THE WORLD BANK prefer for their conferences in recent years.

Shopping One of the most enjoyable parts of a trip in Turkey is shopping and buying from among the rich variety of Turkish crafts. Istanbul is a shopping paradise with the Covered Bazaar as well as the modern malls. Turkish carpets are the most original and popular items for one to buy. Carpet shops offer a wide collection of carpets of various colours and designs, and rugs and kilims woven in various regions of the country. Other Turkish handicrafts include suede and leather goods, ranging from all kinds of clothing to various accessories. Coats, dresses, trousers, bags, shoes and others, made of extremely fine leather or suede can be found in large stores.
