ABSTRACT This paper presents a research about the privatization of a natural touristic resource and the impact on income distribution produced by ecotourism in a small community. The natural resource is located in the environmental corridor “Llanganates-Sangay” in Ecuador central area, where the large influx of tourists represents an opportunity for local development area. However, currently its two entrances are monopolized by the private sector. The case study focuses on one of the access, analyzing ecotourism activities around the natural resource and its economic income, concluding with a comparative analysis of the percentage of income corresponding to each sector in relation to the total. Keywords: ecotourism, incomes, local development, privatization, small communities

INTRODUCTION The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) defines “ecotourism” as a touristic activity with little human intervention which contributes to the conservation of natural areas and improves the well-being of local populations. The strategies used in ecotourism provide resources for the protection of natural areas and generate economic incentives for communities, organizations and local governments that manage these zones to achieve a balance between usage and protection.According to UNWTO, one of its main objectives is the awareness of residents and tourists on the conservation of natural areas and culture within localities and the creation of local jobs that generate income for their population.

generating employment and foreign currency. In fact, tourism covers the largest international trade in services category. Its value lies on the natural ressources and raw materials which are the source of this activity: the nature and cultural diversity of the people who live there. Service creation and employment with little investment is feasible in small communities through ecotourism, however these advantages bring regulatory problems such as privatization and monopolization of natural attractions, which hinders the equitable distribution of income to all sectors involved. As mentioned Fariña and Higueras (1999) “tourism (...) is a major employment generator as it requires a high volume of labor that also can not be automated.[2]”

According to Solano (2015),[1] more than 125 countries, mostly considered as underdeveloped economies, have considered tourism as their main activity

Rooftop Rainwater Harvesting in Urban Areas of India Prakash Chandra Tamrakar1*, Abir Bandyopadhyay2 1

Department of Architecture, Govt. Girls’ Polytechnic, Raipur, India 2 Department of Architecture, N.I.T., Raipur, India

ABSTRACT Water is very important for survival of every human being. India is blessed with adequate rainfall. It is estimated that rainwater captured from 1 to 2 percent of India’s land can provide water to 950 million persons at 100 liters per person per day. With the development and growth of urban population, the paved area and roof area is also increasing and this situation is ideal for implementing rainwater harvesting techniques. This paper highlights various benefits, components, potential, need, techniques, structure and case studies of rooftop rain water harvesting in urban area. Keywords: rainwater harvesting, techniques of rainwater harvesting, urban

INTRODUCTION Water is very important for survival of every human being. Rain water is the main source of water. Rain water is free from organic matter, soft in nature and bacteriologically pure (Chandel and Sharma, 2014). India is blessed with adequate rainfall as a whole and the average annual precipitation is about 1170 mm. which is much higher than the global average of 700 mm (Chandel and Sharma, 2014). With the development and growth of urban population, the paved area and roof area is also increasing and this situation is ideal for implementing rainwater harvesting techniques. Rainwater harvesting is a technology used for collecting and storing rainwater from rooftops, the land surface or rock catchments using simple techniques such as jars and pots as well as more complex techniques such as underground check dams (http://www.gdrc.org/uem/water/rainwater /introduction.html). This will help to meet the increasing demand of water supply and contribute in sustainability of the water supply.

ROOF TOP RAIN WATER HARVESTING Rooftop rainwater harvesting is the technique through which rain water is captured from roof catchment and stored in tanks/reservoirs/ground water acquirers for later use. It consists of conservation of roof top rain water in urban areas and utilizing it to augment ground water storage by artificial recharge (http://cpwd.gov.in/Publication/rain_wh.P DF). The rain water can be collected from roof of houses, from open areas and directly too. Commonly used systems are constructed of three principal components namely the catchment area, the collection device and the conveyance system. The stored water can be used for potable, non potable and preferable to integrate with the conventional water supply system.

How an Efficient and Optimal Use of Space Can Help in the Reduction of Costs? Ankur Attri* Department of Architecture, Chandigarh University, Mohali, India ABSTRACT An inflation of construction cost has been observed in the past consecutive years. Up to 15% increase occurs per annum because of the increasing cost of labour and building materials such as cement, bricks, steel, timber etc. Revolutionizing the traditional concepts of construction various new techniques need to be introduced which provide better structural strength while keeping the dead weighs much lower in comparison to a traditional building using various forms of concrete in different types of formworks. Keeping in view the affordability of housing for majority of people, a major reform is required which constitutes cost effective solutions for construction by applying modern construction materials and techniques efficiently or by up-gradation of conventional technologies using local resources. By planning each and every component of a house and rationalizing the design procedure, the wastage of materials due to demolition of the unplanned component of the house can be avoided.

INTRODUCTION The cost is ought to be reduced by using various ways including the use of materials which reduce the overall cost of the living units and by using techniques of construction which will help in reducing the construction cost. Since space is a major issue of concern to have a living with all the facilities available in a small existing area, which does not meet the user’s needs. By using the concept of Space Saving which includes the use of space saving furniture and creating multi-functional spaces, less space can be made more usable with existing facilities resulting in affordability. The design should be as such to be able to fit into all considerations or functions, it must be well adjusted and flexible, so that it is able to be used at any point of time. The design should not offer immovability,

to make an access easy and frequent to each and every corner. It must be creative along with offering a comfortable room for the inhabitant. A balance should be created between all such spaces visually and functionally so provide an access to all functional spaces. HOW TO SAVE SPACE Space is something which adds up to the additional costs in a living unit. Here are techniques that can be utilized to save such space cutting down the costs. Save space in a small kitchen – builtin/space saver can be used for craft space in library, with a small kitchen, a bathroom, a living room, a porch and a bedroom. A built-in table takes up minimal space in this kitchen, folding up into the wall when not in use. (Refer Figure 1).

Review Insight on Green Building Architecture for Conservation of Environment Deepika Goel* Department of Architecture, Accurate Institute of Architecture and Planning, Greater Noida, India

ABSTRACT Day by day high building structure s leading for the emission of greenhouse gases which depleting ozone layer and effecting the environment very badly. This is a global issue emerging day to day life. Recently National Institute of Building Sciences (USA) mentioned that buildings emitting huge amount of unwanted gases in the environment like CO2, NO, SO2, etc. which are dangerous for the entire environment. This is a very serious point need to be point out and implementations can be made for every new construction instantly. This rapidly growing grey infrastructure rendering ecosystem very badly, if we switch on into green buildings completely it will help us to maintain the boundaries for our ecosystem. Green Buildings causing little interference with the environment with keeping in mind that we are using ecofriendly material for construction and will try to use as much as renewable resources. This paper emphases on the green building architecture for developing countries, so that future is in secure hands. Keywords: contemporary architecture, ecosystem, green buildings, renewable, green design

INTRODUCTION According to researchers Buildings emitting 40% in total CO2 in the environment due to which India is among top most countries which are targeted by global warming, due to carbon emission rate in the world. Green Building practice of construction leads to sustainable architecture with eco-friendly environment without disturbing the natural elements. It will also improve employ productivity, pollution control, environment ecofriendly, reducing waste products, etc. Green Building helps in improving environment by reducing polluted gases, waste output control, less water usage, etc.[1] REPURCUSSION AT WORLD LEVEL The needs and demands fulfilment of man is increasing day-by-day in return pressure

is exerted on the nature and alarm is buzzing against nature disaster. In recent past years study found that there has been a big decline in last four decades which leads to the destructive changes and may be irreversible changes.[2] This may also turn light off for employees to go under poverty line in the countries which rely on eco system revenue. In the coming year’s global ecosystem will not be able to nurture future generation for longer. Buildings accounts for almost half of the energy production and raw materials from the entire globe. The 2008 Building Energy Data book (USDE 2008) says that commercial and residential buildings are held responsible for 39.7% of the energy consumed (residential 21.5% and commercial 18.2%) globally and 76% of the electricity used and 15% of the total
