Face of Malta 2013 Joanne Galea, the 23 year old beauty from Zejtun, was crowned as the new Face of Malta winner on 14th June 2013 at Hilton Malta. This gala event, directed by Alan J Darmanin and Jeff Francalanza of Glow Promotions, showcased 40 female models competing for this prestigious title. During this finale, Joanne came in first place and was also awarded the Best Personality title. Louisa Abela followed in second place, whilst Sophie Bonello DuPuis placed third.

With this title, Joanne will have a year jam-packed with photo shoots, and television appearances, she will be a special guest at various events and she will grace the pages of various magazines and more. The remaining top 12 finalists chosen during the Face of Malta event will also be featured in this calendar.

We mixed the Indulge treatment mask with the colour and peroxide as the hair ends where very dry. Vibrant Color offers a great range of an impressive 72 colours and it is enriched with vegetable

components that protect and nourish the hair during the color treatment. Active components ensure a long-lasting, vibrant result. They contain vitamin liposomes for optimal volume and conditioning. The D-Pantenol liposome is a form of vitamin B5 that makes your hair strong and elastic. Using Code Zero Hair products, colouring results in shiny, silky hair. After the processing time, we used a mixture of Balancer pH2.5: Acidifier with maximum color lock pH2.5 which rebalances the hair’s pH values. Its acid-cationic formula develops a remarkable de-alkalifying and disentangling action. Balancer pH 2.5 eliminates the alkaline residues present in the scalp and hair after colouring, bleaching and perming, thus restoring the hair and scalp’s physiologic pH. Its specific disentangling and balancing action makes the hair soft, bright and manageable. The Balancer pH2.5 was applied directly to the processed hair colour without any rinsing. Approximately 5 pumps of Balancer pH2.5 were used directly on the hair colour without rinsing and the scalp was massaged for 1 minute, without touching the lower ends (where there was the 10.43). After 1 minute, the colour is rinsed and Color Fixx pH5.5 is applied. Color Fixx pH5.5 is an amphoteric shampoo which is specially formulated to properly clean the hair and scalp after a colour treatment. It exerts a balancing eudermic cleansing action and does not alter the physiologic balance of the hair and scalp. The cleansing action does not interfere with the colour pigment and it ensures better hold of colour and highlights.

nd the wait is finally over... A month full of extraordinary events awaits the contestants. State-of-the art studios and world-class sports stadiums will showcase the talent and sports challenges. Unique and original outfits from the leading designers in Bali, Indonesia will add a local flair to the Top Model and Beach Fashion events. In this collaboration with our hosts MNC Group (X-Factor, Bali, Indonesian Idol), Miss World 2013 will be a first class entertainment extravaganza. Malta will be represented by Donna Borg Leyland who won the Miss Malta title a few months ago after competing amongst other 25 contestants under the organisation of Modelle International directed by Sue Rossi and Claudia Calleja who are the exclusive licence holders of this prestigious event. During the month-long stay all 140 contestants take part in various activities related to the final night. Some of the important activities are related to Beach Fashion, Sports & Fitness, Talent Competition, Top Model and World Fashion Designer Awards. The winner of each challenge will automatically be amongst the top 20 during the final night. Miss World is also known for the charity slogan “Beauty with a Purpose”. Every year, the contestants take part in charity projects and selfless acts within their community. They present their projects and the best one receives the Beauty with a Purpose Award, which rewards them with many points towards their final score, but also $10,000 will be presented to the charity that the winner had been working with supporting.

In the UK hair tattooing has been popular for over 21 years, that’s as long as I have been barbering!

How long does the procedure take? The time taken can vary from as little as 10 mins to 2 or 3 hours depending on the design, and experience, as well as the level of expertise, of the barber.

Are any special tools needed for this treatment? I recommend a detailer for hair tattooing!

Does the client provide the design or do they allow you to express your artistic capability? Each client is different! If a client gives you a design plan then you may charge more for your time.

What is the most important thing your client needs to know prior to any treatment? Your client needs to receive a good clear consultation about the service and treatment they will require.

What is the main ingredient for a successful treatment? Deliver your treatment with confidence and take great care to give attention to detail! Also as I have already advised, always consult your client and ask for their opinion and expectations.

Would you part with what, in your opinion, could be a top secret tip for successful hairdressing? Remember the names of your clients and always be passionate about your work at all times!!
