F eminineClassics: PLAKINGER by Stefania Pruscino
PLAKINGER is a fashion label with collections that are a vibrant mix of modern and unpretentious, luxurious fashion. All of PLAKINGER clothing is produced in exceptionally limited quantities and handmade in Germany with the highest quality fabrics. Actually, PLAKINGER uses the same fabric suppliers as Dior and Chanel, so the caliber of their clothes is nothing short of perfection. These days, the brand is expanding with high-end ready to wear. PLAKINGER’s silhouettes, cuts and detailing bring together classic feminine styles combined with traditional men’s tailoring - while making sure to keep the garment everflattering to a women’s physique. For the Spring-Summer 2015 collection, the designers, Svetlana Ziggel and her mother Galina Plakinger, were inspired by the sailorman aesthetics, corals and stripes, and using the pantsuit as a baseline. The collection mixes feminine shapes and masculine cuts. And the result? Romance. Vivid, elegant, romance: thePLANKINGER look. [[ Silk jacquard, lightweight wool and angora blend, painted sequins, silk and linen blend, silk organza and faux leather were all used for the Spring-Summer 2015. ]]
Looking into the future, the Fall-Winter 2015/2016 collection will be presented in March during Paris Fashion Week. The main inspiration behind their upcoming designs is a modern Marie-Antoinette; seeking playful romanticism combined with elements of fantastical milita uniforms bonding together to create a strong and sophisticated look. [[ For this collection, the designers will use fabrics such as floral silk jacquard, wool, mohair, black lace, silk organza, tweed and velvet. ]] Additionally, for the first time in their history, PLAKINGER there will develop a clothing line for small girls. As PLANKINGER is a mother/daughter-run business, it made sense for Svetlana and her mother to add some clothes for younger children aged 3 to 10. This mother-daughter design team wants to create something for everyone and we cannot wait to see what they will present next. The Spring-Summer 2015 collection was showcased during Paris Fashion Week in September. The Fall-Winter 2015/2016 collection will be presented in March in Paris. Plakinger is sold online, the brand has its own e-shop: http://www.byplakinger.com/en/7-shop

UNEINS was created from the aspiration to cater to a new generation of women who are uninterested inpassing trends and the flash value of familiar designer names. Unequivocally cool in nature, lead designer Linda Förstner and her team have developed a brand that “exists to create intelligent, emotional design with purpose and without expiration date.” Their work is focused on supporting artisan craftsmanship in both manufacturing and sourcing and as a result, UNEINS offers mindful, curated fashion - fully accountable for their purpose, utility, design and execution. Fashion designer, musician, and artist Linda founded UNEINS in the summer of 2013. Her design vision is “always to seek a balance of familiar and new, classic and avant-garde, shaping a unique and recognizable style that provides everyday contemporary elegance.” The Autumn-Winter collection is a representation of a merger between two worlds: Scandinavian purity blended with urban eccentricity, such as the one felt when strolling down on the streets of Berlin and Helsinki (their home cities), or any other cosmopolitan hub. Using exquisite Italian wool, luxury mohair, and soft leathers for this collection creates a feminine yet tough-girl aesthetic, truly catering to a variety of personal styles. So whether you’re spending that special day this month with your significant other or having a girl’s night out, UNEINS is sure to make you feel beautiful and empowered. “With my designs, I seek to inspire an emotional attachment to a piece of clothing that will carry your memories as long as it is alive in your wardrobe.” -Linda Förstner Visit www.uneins.com

SEVDA London by Stefania Pruscino
Sevda London is a truly one-of-a-kind brand that I am thrilled to share with all of you! These luxury handbags and scarves are handcrafted in Italy with a combination of rich leather, textured suede and bespoke, handcrafted metal detailing; SEVDA LONDON handbags and scarves are the epitome of couture-quality craftsmanship. Jute Magazine got an inside look into the company, its Spring-Summer 2015 collection, and an exclusive Q&A with Founder and Creative Director: Sevda. The Designer As a young girl Sevda began to design her own clothes and accessories, which her mother, a professional dressmaker, lovingly crafted for her. At an early age Sevda knew that creativity would be an essential part of her life and, by the age of seven, she began designing her first sketches. Born in Bursa, Turkey, a city with a rich history in textile craftsmanship, Sevda developed an appreciation for the country’s extensive cultural background. Encouraged by her mother to pursue her dreams of becoming a designer, Sevda mastered in fashion studies at the Mimar Sinan Faculty of Fine Arts Textile and Fashion Design in Istanbul. After working as a designer for several leather brands in Istanbul, Sevda relocated to London to hone her craft and completed a variety of courses at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. There, she began to shape her philosophy and real plans for her business to come true. “I am a designer. When I create a bag, I know that it is going to come alive at the hands of a real woman. As time passes, it evolves into its own unique character, by the style of its constant companion, its owner, her imprints and her scent. It will reflect her personality. The bag no longer becomes an accessory.” SEVDA LONDON Handbags A combination of rich leather, textured suede and bespoke handcrafted metal detailing, SEVDA LONDON handbags are the epitome of couture-quality craftsmanship. All the designs are based on women who embody strength and elegance, which is reflected in the unique detailing of each bag: The Audrey and The Victoria. All designs are available in three-color waves and are designed to be timeless in aesthetic, unique in design, and charged with meaning.
The Inspiration When Sevda couldn’t find the right handbag to take her from day to evening, it was the perfect motivation for her to create her eponymous label, which was set up in 2008 in London. Inspired by her travels and infused with her East meets West design philosophy, Sevda was determined to create the bag she always wanted but could never quite find. This emerging luxury designer creates chic and feminine silhouettes with limited accents. As a British label, Sevda combines timeless elegance with fashion-forward creativity that London is known for. Paired with traditional Italian craftsmanship and their corresponding high quality materials Sevda’s handbags truly are a wonderful medium between “Designed in London” and “Made in Italy.” “I personally don’t believe in fashion! Your uniqueness comes with what you choose, rather than what others tell you to wear. I don’t like fabrications either. In my mind, the SEVDA woman is defined by her distinctive and cautious decisions in style.” SEVDA LONDON Scarves Bold patterns and powerful color palettes make up the essence of SEVDA LONDON scarves. Designed to be the perfect accompaniment to the SEVDA LONDON handbag, all the scarves are created in Lake Como Italy and are inspired by Sevda’s childhood memories of her summers spent in an English garden. With unique detailing like crowned birds, Tulips, Roses and Dahlias, some of the silk patterns take more than two months each to complete. Available in both silk and cashmere, SEVDA LONDON scarves are designed to be worn throughout the day and even into the night. Each scarf can be draped or worn differently with respect to the wearer’s unique preference. SEVDA LONDON scarves indulge our wardrobes with a sense of individuality, imagination, and a touch of mischief.

The promise made by Sevda and her team has determined SEVDA’s values, mostly built upon sustainable principles. It is precisely these principles that make up SEVDA London’s DNA: Timelessness, Uniqueness, and Soul. How long has SEVDA been designing? Since her graduation in 2002, she has worked as a designer for several international leather and textile brands. In 2008, with the launch of her flagship label, she acts as the creative director for her brand. Can you please elaborate on SEVDA’s DNA? Since the very beginning ethical values have always been at the core of Sevda and her team. She strives to work with the safest materials to ensure hazard-free workplaces. Child labor is outlawed, and Sevda does her best to protect the rights of the people she collaborates with. SEVDA’s DNA is made up of three qualities: Timelessness: refers to our desire of creating an article of the highest quality destined to be a loyal companion for many years. An ageless, classic design--as well as being durable and long-lasting. Uniqueness: an object that is rare, desirable, and resilient; one that allows its owner to reflect her own unique personality, while showing an appreciation and respect for meticulous craftsmanship. Lastly, Soul: SEVDA stands for emotion. Sevda and her team believe a product is “charged with meaning”, decency, and most importantly a story. It reflects its companion’s personality, passed on from generation to generation.
What does the future hold for SEVDA? We have added a matching silk and cashmere blend scarf collection, custom designed by Sevda, to our new “100% Made in Italy” leather handbags. Based on feedback from U.S. retailers, we have decided to manufacture our handbags and scarves by Italian artisans in Italy using the finest Italian leather and bespoke metal accessories, specifically designed by and made for SEVDA. At the same time, we are paying absolute attention to sustainability factors, which is especially important as evidenced by the growing trend of conscious consumerism. This further identifies SEVDA as a unique and a differentiating brand. These changes are going to enable us to expand our outreach to high-end department stores, both in the UK and the U.S. While the British branding is quite attractive and an important feature, we also want to utilize red carpet and celebrity endorsements as well as high-profile charity and other strategic alliances. In the next few years, SEVDA will also have its own Foundation to empower women globally. We are planning to collaborate with sales agents in New York City and Los Angeles to get our products in front of buyers of in the U.S. We are also responding to various inquiries from the Middle East and Far East regions. Our online sales presence will be enhanced further by the ongoing development of our new and improved website which we’ve made more mobile-friendly and we also continue to engage our audience via social media channels. Next in our lineup in the coming year, we will be including a ready-to-wear collection with matching prints to complement our accessories collection. This new venture will be made in Britain, investing in British manufacturing, and collaborating with DISC. Lastly, our long-term goal is to open our first retail store in London, to be followed by one in New York since we continue to have a transatlantic presence in both cities.
