1st Stage: Data Gathering 1. Digital Landscape Model (ΟΚΧΕ) 2. Grassing Maps (ΥΠΕΚΑ/Ειδική Γραμματεία Δασών) 3. Natura Map (YΠΕΚΑ) 4. Street Network (Ορθοφωτοχάρτες ΟΚΧΕ, GoogleEarth) 5. High Voltage Network (ΑΔΜΗΕ Α.Ε.) 6. Water intake points/ fire lookout stations/ patrols/ hardware equipment/ actions in case of an alarm situation (Τμήμα περιβάλλοντος και πολιτικής προστασίας) κλπ
2nd Stage: Data translation and rendition on GIS 1. Map Creation : depicting the causes of a forest fire occurring 2. Smart Map Creation:
qualitative maps (layers of information) quantitative maps (application of mathimatical models)
3rd Stage: Conclusions and Proposals so as to achieve 1. prevention 2. better business planning Slide 2 /17

Water Intake Points Map
• The water intake points are located within the borders of the urban environment. • Special use spaces with fire fighting system.
• The access to the mountain happens from specific points that can be monitored. • A street network for the access of the mountainous areas in case of a forest fire.

The high risk areas: • Are usually found near the city.
• Are found within the limits of special uses areas (Democritus, American College), so they are protected. • Are covered by the current street network.

Conclusion
Α) The largest part of the area of interest is visible from the existing fire lookout stations and is situated in protected zones (Democritus, military camp). Only specific areas are not visible. The construction of another fire lookout station in the northwestern side would provide almost full visibility. Β) The construction of a weather station or the use of an existing one (inside Democritus) would help fulfill the plan of action. In the “risk of a forest fire occurring” map we would have the weather factor being counted as well.
Γ) A cooperation is required with the neighbouring municipalities around Imittos, so as to create a complete GIS.
