LETTER FROM JACKIE LUDLAGE, FOUNDING EDITOR

SketchesRock!

I have officially given you permission to feel fabulous about your creative self when you start a project inspired by a sketch. You have been set free! You seriously would not believe the number of scrapbookers who feel like they are not creative enough or artistic enough, and who judge themselves when they begin the creative process by reaching for a sketch. I wish I could sprinkle my scrappy fairy glitter on everyone to remove this ridiculous train of thought. Just think of all the patterns being used in the world today by extremely creative people—quilters, sewers, painters, cooks, builders… and on and on. When you cook a fabulous meal using a recipe but add your own little “zesty” twist, you feel fabulous. The same should apply to your scrapbook projects.

things; it’s a little problem I have). It’s kinda like stamps for me. I just never know what stamp I might use or NEED, so its best to have as many options as possible. Giggle Giggle! This holiday season, set yourself free. If you have an idea, go for it! If you start with a sketch, GO FOR IT! No matter the beginning, it’s all about your extra pinch of cinnamon, that slight twist of lime, and perhaps a side of guacamole that makes each and every one of your creations PERFECTO!

LETTER FROM KATHARINA DOYLE, FOUNDING PUBLISHER

It's all about the face... It’s all about the face. No other thing, artifact, or element pulls us in like a face. It is the primary image we hold in memory. Our ability to recognize a face over time is astounding. We know in an instant if we’ve seen the person before. We can see someone’s baby picture and find the recognizable features of the fullymatured adult we know. A scenic picture of mountains or the ocean is simply better when it includes a familiar smiling face in the foreground. Photo by Allison Orthner

We all have hundreds of pictures trapped in our various devices. This winter, I encourage you to print and crop them so you can make faces the focus of your layouts. Start with an important face or

two. Faces you will want to see again and again. Enjoy the diversity that one face can give you across ages, activities, and even moods. You’ll be surprised by how many different faces each one of us has had. Speaking of faces, I love seeing so many of your happy and recognizable faces at the events we attend! Seeing many of you year after year brings real joy to this work for me! Let’s celebrate faces! Hug hard, ~ Katharina

PS. Check out page 137 for the upcoming shows where we look forward to seeing your wonderful face!

Scraps of Info To colour paper using avocado waste, Valentina boiled the avocado skin and pit for 2 to 3 hours. She then poured the liquid into a pan wide enough to accommodate 8-1/2″ × 11″ paper. She placed a few sheets of white photocopy paper into the pan. After a few minutes, Valentina removed the paper, drained each sheet on paper towels and baked them on a baking sheet in a preheated 180˚ oven for 20 to 30 minutes, checking them every few minutes. The avocado-dyed paper turns out pink! Valentina Deker creates beautiful, unique journals with materials that many of us would find in our recycle bin. She uses all sorts of paper—junk mail, envelopes, old books and catalogues, loose leaf, and Post-It notes—to create pockets and pages in handmade books that are embellished with stitching, scraps of lace, stencils, and digital images. Valentina dyed some of the paper and embellishments with avocado peels, coffee, and tea. The cover of the journal is made of wallpaper and features a coffee-dyed appliqué. Have a look at some of the pages, and be inspired!

Dictionaries are yet another item in our society that have become almost obsolete. How many people still look up the definitions of words in a real dictionary? These beautiful books typically take up a lot of space and are often discarded or donated to thrift stores and used book sales. Much like other old books, dictionary pages can be used for a variety of craft projects. Try highlighting a specific definition on a dictionary page to add a unique touch to your greeting cards or scrapbooking layouts. Some dictionaries— especially children’s dictionaries—are

FOILED CHRISTMAS CARDS

beautifully illustrated and you can use these images to your advantage. A single “vintage” dictionary can provide a lot of paper for craft projects. Use dictionary pages much as you would any other patterned paper: decorate with foil, stencils, and stamps to form beautiful backgrounds, or use your scissors and dies to cut out shaped embellishments. It’s a lot of fun flipping through old dictionaries and repurposing the pages to create art.

Bible

A Starry Night The Bible records that there were stars in the sky for Jesus’ birth, including an extra special one that signaled a King had been born. Starry nights continue to remind us that this world is far more than we can see, far larger than we can imagine, and full of hope because of a special starry night thousands of years ago.

BIBLE ART JOURNALING Scraps of Info When using Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Resist spray, be sure to cover your Bible with wax paper to protect the other pages and then place inside a box as the overspray will stick to anything and everything. Also be sure to clean the nozzle and any stencils and paintbrushes while still wet with resist spray.

Jesus Is the Reason Allison Orthner, Calgary, Alberta SUPPLIES: Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Resist spray and Distress Oxide inks, Stamps of Life stamps, StazOn ink, acrylic paint, star hole punch.

RANGER DISTRESS RESIST SPRAY

1. Gently spray the entire page with Distress Resist spray,

2. Dip a small paintbrush into the Distress Resist bottle, and

3. Once completely dry, add colour by gently applying

and then let dry. Next, use a star stencil to spray a pattern. I created my star stencil by using a small star hole punch on thick cardstock.

then add extra stars in the shape of “+ signs, and paint one larger star. You can also use the end of the spray tube to dab on larger dots for even more stars.

assorted Distress Oxide inks and blending well. I used a baby wipe to gently rub off the resist areas when done. Then I finished with stamping.

THE

ORG AN IZED Crafter

By Tiffany Spaulding

Plan to be Organized I fought the planner aisle for almost a year before I finally succumbed to the sirens of planning. I knew it would be bad, but I didn’t realize just how bad. Now, I’m a 3-planner girl—Basic Planner, WDYDT Planner, and Detail Organizer. While I’ve always used a planner, I never thought of using my paper crafting supplies to make it more enticing and fun. With the new year right around the corner, I thought this might be a great time to share with you my top 10 planner organization tips.

Step 1– TOD –Top of the Day List I use the top section of my planner to create a list of things I do every day or almost every day. This may seem silly, but there are two things that are really important about this list. The first is that it keeps me focused and disciplined. There’s a tendency with redundant tasks to put them off or “wait” to get them done. When your day gets away from you, these basic things get missed, but they are literally the foundation for everything else in your life running smoothly. Secondly, these tasks tend to be easy and well defined, which means you can actually accomplish them! AND you get to CHECK THEM OFF YOUR LIST! This is amazing for your brain. Most of my TOD list is work-related; depending on your job/life/etc., your

50 Creative Scrapbooker | Winter 2019/2020

list will be different. If you are thinking that you don’t have anything that you do every day, you’re probably thinking about big things. Instead, think about small things… • Making your bed • Watering your garden • Planning dinner – Do you need to take something out of the freezer? Will you need to stop at the grocery store when you run errands today or on your way home from work? If you don’t have a dinner plan when 5 pm rolls around, you’ll either be running to the store at an inconvenient time or eating something that you may not be particularly proud of. There are also things that happen every few days or every week, such as putting out the garbage, doing laundry, calling your mom; these, can be part of your TOD list.

THE ORGANIZED CRAFTER

Step 2– Sticky Notes First One of the fun things about planning is having a planner that is fun to look at. For me, that means it’s attractive and of course, organized. If I’m not 100% sure of when a task needs to get done, when something will arrive/depart, or if I’m going to be able to keep an appointment, I put it on a pretty sticky note instead of writing it directly on my planner. This serves two purposes: the first is aesthetic—it just looks better, and second, it’s easy to move to another date if needed.

If you can’t find sticky notes you want to use, create your own using repositionable adhesive and pretty paper. This is a perfect job for the Xyron Creative Station or the Xyron “X”.

Step 3– Double-Duty I use the calendar at the front of my planner as a “mini” view of the day; this is especially helpful for getting an overall view of the week or month. Appointments and major events are duplicated on this calendar. When I’m trying to schedule something like dinner with a girlfriend, this monthly calendar will tell me quickly which evenings are available and which weeks are empty or full. I use washi tape to note employee vacations, travel dates, or anything that is happening over an extended period of time.

Step 4– Monthly Majors The Monthly Majors list is a great big reminder of things that I should plan for a little or a lot in advance. I use it to remind myself of things like upcoming birthdays, anniversaries, large commitments, etc. One of the best things about this is that I can use this list when the year changes and I move to a new planner. Some things will obviously change, but some things are consistent yearto-year. When my kids were at home, I hosted a huge holiday open house.

I kept a list of how many people I invited, how many showed up, how much food I served, and if I needed more or less, etc. After a couple of years, I could plan the event quickly and with confidence, just by reviewing the lists I had moved forward from year to year in my planners.

Creative Scrapbooker | Winter 2019/2020 51

Step 5– The Perpetual To-Do List This is a running list that is always front and centre in my planner. Every time something pops into my head— large or small—I add it to this list. Some things are major and will require planning, but many times these are minor things that can be accomplished quickly, such as a letter of reference for my girlfriend Georgia, a new book I want to order on audio, a new restaurant to visit, a dentist appointment to schedule, a graduation card to send to my niece and so on.

Step 6– The Reminder Insert This is a simple cardstock insert that I make myself. I use it until I’m tired of it or feel inspired to create something new. This is where I put sticky notes, shopping lists, or receipts to turn in at the office. It’s also where I attach coupons or event tickets. Generally, the things that are on the Reminder Insert are things that will be removed from my planner quickly. Some of the Reminder Inserts I’ve made have a pocket on the front or back.

Step 7– Daily Preview

Step 8– Daily Review

Step 9– WDYDT

The first task on my list of tasks each day is the Daily Preview. I look at my planner, my Perpetual To-Do List, and my Reminder Insert. Then I prioritize what needs to happen and when. This is when I would use an “hours of the day” page. I don’t have a lot of appointments in my schedule, so it isn’t necessary for me to use this type of page on a daily basis. My Daily Preview is usually just creating a smaller, more focused version of the To-Do List.

The last task of my workday is the daily review. This is when I go through my planner and To-Do list and check off everything that has been done, add new items where they need to go, move existing items and remove things that have dropped off my list.

At the very bottom of my planner each day is my WDYDT reminder. This is part of my goal-setting program. Sometimes I can complete this task before I go home, and sometimes I take the task home with me. It ALWAYS gets done before I go to sleep.

Step 10– #IWriteInColor Do I need to say any more? One of the things that keeps me opening my planner and checking my list is the fact that it’s pretty and fun. If you’re struggling with using your planner, go out and buy yourself a new set of gel pens or fine line markers and start writing in beautiful colors in your planner. You’ll be more inspired than ever to get organized.

52 Creative Scrapbooker | Winter 2019/2020

WDYDT – stands for; What Did You Do Today, to move you closer to your goals? Checking off this box is especially satisfying. Regardless of the hurdles I’ve had to leap throughout the day, or the setbacks I’ve experienced, I always try to do some task—tiny or humongous—that has a direct effect on my current goals. If you’re a goal setter, or would like to be, I strongly recommend this system.

DARE 2BE ARTSY FOR CHRISTMAS Christmas is so many things to so many people. It is family; it is music; it is the day Jesus was born; it is Charlie Brown and his Christmas tree; it is your Christmas tree; it is love; it is celebrating that love; it is decorating and baking, and OH! SO MUCH MORE. For me, it is also the time when I love to create extraspecial cards and tags for those close to me. Usually I add a photo or 6 (lol), and then these special cards and tags

become Christmas decorations for years to come in the homes of the people I love. This year I decided to create my projects using three Christmas stamp sets and one die set by Dare 2B Artzy. These stamps are so versatile, and when you combine them with pigment ink, white paint, snazzy fibres, and tiny beads (Prills from USArtQuest), wonderful things happen. By the way, there were no

markers used in the colouring of these stamps. My pigment re-inkers were busy multi-tasking! Adding photos makes the cards and tags more personal, and I am sure that next year you will see your creations decorating the home or the tree where these handcrafted-withlove projects were sent. MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE, & HAPPY HOLIDAY STAMPING!

CHRISTMAS TAGS Cathie Allan, Stony Plain, Alberta SUPPLIES: Creative Scrapbooker Super Stock, Dare 2B Artzy stamps and dies, Clearsnap ColorBox pigment ink, Top Boss ink, embossing powder, stylus and white foam tips, USArtQuest Prills, VersaFine ink, Krylon leafing pen, Nuvo drops, Dollar Store ornaments, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, unknown ribbon, twine and acrylic paint.

Vintage Glitter House Village There is nothing more heartwarming than making handmade houses at the holidays. Create a Christmas village in soft pastels for your holiday mantle, or make as gifts for friends and family! Assembling them is easy with this House Ornament die. Pick a colour palette; collect your favourite papers, vintage jewelry pieces, glitter, inks and trim; and sit down for a house-building marathon! This year I decided to take a mixedmedia approach and create houses

74 Creative Scrapbooker | Winter 2019/2020

that can stay up throughout the year, not just at the holidays. I have been collecting (hoarding) vintage jewelry pieces found in thrift store explorations. If there is just one earring, or a stone missing from a pin, that’s OK: I buy it anyway! I like to add these pieces to my art because it adds a vintage vibe and is re-using what someone used and loved in the past. It’s hard for me to pass up little bits of lace, so these were added to my houses too.

There are so many ways to go about this: you can decorate with Christmas papers and colours; doodle Christmas songs and phrases on the houses; add dictionary pages or ledger sheets; wrap with yarns, threads, and fabric; stencil; stamp; draw; ink; or add your mark in whatever your style may be. Use this house as a base for your creative expression and have fun with it. Set aside a night, and call in some friends to create with you.

Basic instructions for constructing the house are listed below, but every one will be different, depending what is in your stash. They can be as elaborate or as simple as you want. After I got started, it was hard to stop! The crystal glitter adds just the right softening touch to the ink colours. I love how these came out and have ideas for the next batch!

SUPPLIES USED • die cutting machine • 663636 Sizzix ScoreBoards House Ornament • 657728 Sizzix ScoreBoards Cupcake Stand & Pennant • 656491 Little Sizzles mat board (cream), one 6″ × 13″ sheet per house, mat board scrap for tray • glue gun • PVA or white glue • scissors • Blends inks: Bay, Leaf, Wildberry, Pansy, Sunshine and Tutu • mister • self-healing cutting mat

• craft knife • crystal glitter, gold, silver • vintage snow • The Crafters WorkshopLight & Fluffy Modeling Paste • palette knife • jewelry nippers • patterned paper scraps that coordinate with house colours • lace, trim, ribbon, buttons, embellishments • small bottle brush trees, deer • vintage costume jewelry, earrings, necklaces, beads, crystals

SCRAPS OF INFO When buying a new steel rule die that has lines that are close together or small holes, use fun foam to prevent the mat board from sticking in the die. Matboard is thick and dense, and when the layers build up, it compresses the foam of the die. If the foam is boosted up using adhesive-backed foam, the die will cut better for longer.

Creative Scrapbooker | Winter 2019/2020 75

INSTRUCTIONS 1/ Cut a scrap of foam, and add adhesive to the back. Place adhesive side of foam on die, and then roll though the machine. Leave the foam in place. Eventually, the foam will need to be replaced, but it saves a lot of time picking out holes and small shapes. 2/ To construct the house, you will need to cut the design twice. However, because you only need one piece with a floor on it, you will trim that piece off the second cut. Cut the first piece and then rotate the sheet of matboard. Place the other end of the board at the top of the die overlapping the piece just cut. Run through the machine again. Trim the bottom (floor) flap off the second piece. This way you can cut the whole house from one piece of mat board, plus have four extra sets of the little mini houses to use on gift cards, tags, and cards! 3/ The ScoreBoards die is specially designed to cut and score thick materials like mat board and chipboard up to 1/16″ thick. Because there is a cutting blade in the die, the mat board is only able to be scored in one

direction. The right side is where you can see the score marks; that is the front of the house. Die cut two house shapes from matboard. 4/ Dab Blends inks on non-stick mat, and mist with water. Dip dabber sponge in water; this will create a flowing watercolour effect. Apply streaks of colour to the main shape of the house and side wall. Do not ink the tabs or roof. 5/ When ink is dry, paint a coat of PVA or white glue on coloured areas. 6/ Sprinkle crystal glitter in a flat pan. Press sticky side of houses into the glitter. Shake off excess. 7/ Fold over all score lines 180˚. Wipe away glitter on tabs, and add one strip of red line tape to tabs. Attach the two pieces of the house together by gluing or taping the tabs to form the house. 8/ ASSEMBLY NOTE In most cases, with ScoreBoard dies, the fold breaks away from the score lines. But in order to use the handle piece on top with the two ribbon holes, the fold goes inward against itself. It may feel wrong, but it works. If you are cutting from paper, this is no problem: paper

SCRAPS OF INFO If you are using red line tape to assemble, use one long strip. Fold the long tab in 90˚. Fold up the two roof tabs to meet, forming the peak of the roof. Then continue taping the section together. Do this with both sides of the house, and then join together. Use glue to adhere the top pieces together. can fold either way. Another assembly option would be to bend the score lines down and into the house OR chop off the two handle pieces to create a traditional house shape. 9/ Once the house is assembled, select coordinating paper for the roof. Die cut two roof and handle pieces. Glue to the roof. 10/ Now for the fun part—decorating the houses! Collect all of the elements you would like to include so you have all your options in view. Start placing items where you would like them. Once you are satisfied with how they look, glue them on!

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE HOUSE TRAY 1/ To create the tray to use as a base for the house, die cut a square of mat board using the Cupcake die scalloped square shape. Fold up the edges. With a palette knife, dab some modeling paste into the bottom of the tray all along the outside edges

(about 1/2″ in). Sprinkle on faux snow and glitter, and let dry. 2/ When you are ready to add the house to the base, dab another little bit of modeling paste in the bottom of the tray. Press the house into the paste and allow to dry.

3/ These houses are lightweight so they may be hung as ornaments. Just thread a double length of fishing line through the top holes and tie. Add to the tree and admire!

weights are good to have on hand to keep things in place as they dry. • As you work on the project, examine the house from all angles to make sure that the sides are harmonious. Balance the design with items on the top, middle, and bottom. Place hard jewelry next to soft lace or fibres for contrast. • Other things to incorporate are photos, game pieces, tiny souvenirs, yarn, old keys, charms, beads, buttons, wood shapes, paper flowers,

postage stamps, wire words, washi tape, whatever you have that fits and makes you happy. • Store items for future house projects in one place so that next time you want to create, everything is together. This saves you from having to open every container again!

GENERAL ASSEMBLY TIPS • If there are unneeded pinbacks or earring wires that stick out, use jewelry nippers to cut them off so the piece lies flat against the house. Loctite Super Glue allows you to adhere metal to metal if you want to combine components to a base. • Hot glue seemed to be the best option for attaching jewelry to the walls of the house. White glue was used to adhere trims. • A supply of binder clips, clothespins, rubber bands, and

Cards That Shine Giving someone a handmade card makes any occasion extra special, and now I use my lettering skills when I make cards. I love to create eye-catching effects with my metallic pens on cards, and I’ve discovered a new way to use these shiny pens with stamps on black paper without embossing. 1

Welcome to "Love Letters" a series of lettering articles written and illustrated by Kelly Klapstein. In each issue, Kelly will guide you through easy-to-follow tips and tricks as you learn the beautiful art of hand lettering.

1. Collect your supplies: Black smooth cardstock (or any other dark colour), light grey ink pad, stamping blocks, and stamp sets. 78 Creative Scrapbooker | Winter 2019/2020

Scraps of Info Use stamp images that have simple lines and are not too detailed or intricate.

with metallic pens or colouring pencils. Add extra details and lettering with metallic pens or pencils. Try this stamp & trace technique on black or white paper, and make cards that shine!

There are so many beautiful stamps that you can trace over with metallic pens for any occasion. I like to use brush lettering for my sentiments, but cursive writing or even printing will work well, too.

IMAGE TRANSFER WITH RANGER MEDIA PAINT & GEL PRINTING PLATE

1. Apply Ranger Dina Wakley Media acrylic paint onto the Ranger

Gel Printing Plate.

3. Lay the image directly onto the gel printing plate. Apply even

pressure with a brayer. This will allow the image to transfer.

5. Once the gel printing plate is dry, repeat Steps 1, 2, and 3: apply a

thin layer of paint, brayer evenly, layer your cardstock, and firmly press again.

2. Use a brayer to spread just enough acrylic paint for a thin,

even coat. A little goes a long way.

4. Slowly peel back the image. Set the peeled off image aside for

another project. Wait for the gel printing plate to dry with the image on it.

6. Slowly peel your cardstock, revealing the transferred image. The

sentiment transfers over to your cardstock and is ready for a card, scrapbook page, or art journal.

Scraps of Info For best results, use high contrast images. This can apply to printed text, magazine images, or even your scrapbook paper. Creative Scrapbooker | Winter 2019/2020 85

Planners Gonna Plan- Travel and other Special Event Journals

Day #3 Jayme Loge Spruce Grove, Alberta SUPPLIES: Me & My Big Ideas planner, stickers and note papers, HP Sprocket photo printer and adhesive-backed paper, American Crafts Kelly Creates Fineliners, Faber Castell watercolor pencils.

Scraps of Info Here is a look at my planner traveling kit.

We all have momentous, extraordinary occasions that we want to clearly remember for the rest of our lives. A long-planned trip, pregnancy and baby’s milestones, moving to a new city, or planning a wedding are just a few examples of such events. What better way to preserve these memories than by keeping a journal about the event in real time? Here are a few tips to get you on your way!

What do you need to get started? â—? A journal! Choose a journal that fits your style and purpose. For travel, a lightweight book is crucial. If you like to paint, stamp, or draw, choose a journal with more substantial pages. Also think about how you like to fill the space: do you need blank pages, lines, or grids? How many pages will suit your purpose, and do you need some variety or flexibility in the styles of pages?

Scraps of Info Tracy embellished her photos using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Self-Adhesive Kraft Creative Photo Corners.

Here is a look at the front of Tracy’s journal.

● A beautiful journaling pen. When you settle down to write out your thoughts and memories, it feels special to use a good quality writing tool. If you will be using stamps or watercolours in your journal, make sure the ink is waterproof. ● Watercolours, pencil crayons, stamps, or markers. Choose your favorite medium to add colour and detail to your writing. You may also like themed stickers, colourful washi tape, or bits of eye-catching paper. ● A glue stick. You know some bit of memorabilia is going to need to go into your journal! ● A little case to keep everything in, especially for a travel journal. Having everything in one spot makes it all easier. 104 Creative Scrapbooker | Winter 2019/2020

● A photo printer. There are many portable printers on the market that print small photos that are perfect for a journal! They generally work through an app on your phone, so accessing and printing pictures is a breeze. Just as with other types of planners, setting aside a time for journal writing is crucial, as is sticking to that schedule as much as possible! Keeping up with events prevents the whole process from becoming overwhelming. If you cannot keep to your commitment, use a system of keeping reminder notes so that you have them available when you do sit down. On a recent trip, I used Facebook to share daily events,

and that info came in handy when I opened up my journal; some days I arrived back at our accommodations just too tired for another task. This journal will tell a story that evolves over time. It gives you a chance to not just report on the events that happened, but your thoughts and feelings about them as well. Include fun little notes like your Fitbit tracking, the weather, an interesting conversation, and everything that awakened your senses! Remember this is a special journal, for this never-before-experienced part of your life. Enjoy the journey, and cherish the memories that will wash over you every time you open this journal.

Eyes portray emotions and even tell stories with just a glance. Eyes can communicate the innocence of a baby (Figure 1), reflect decades of experience in the elderly (Figure 2), and transmit the battle and determination of a cancer patient (Figure 3). Eyes in portraits are critical, and direct eye contact is extra powerful as it instantly draws us into a connection with the other person.

When capturing a portrait, the “golden rule” is to make sure the eyes are in focus, as that can make or break the image. Getting the eyes sharp can be tricky, but follow these tips:

focus with a lower f-stop (ex. f/1.8) As you gain experience, try lower f-stops with a shallower depth of field, but be careful to check that the eyes are still sharply in focus.

1. Make sure the focal point on your camera is locked on the eyes. Ideally, you want to “toggle” or move your focal point around until it lands on the eyes. If both eyes are not on the same plane, focus on the eye closest to the camera (Figure 4). Toggling can be done with all SLR cameras, many point-and-shoots, and even cellphones. You can also focus on the eyes and then recompose, but it is better if you can toggle a focal point right onto the eyes.

3. Use a faster shutter speed (1/125 or faster), especially if using a zoom. As a general rule, use a shutter speed that is at least twice the focal length. For example, if shooting at 85mm zoom, your shutter speed should be at least 1/170. Increase your ISO if you need more light, rather than reducing your shutter speed. Since many of the photos in our scrapbooks are portraits of loved ones and friends, it is helpful to pay attention to the eyes while capturing their photos. Eyes that are in focus and looking directly into the camera draw us all in and help capture a person’s soul.

2. Use a higher f-stop (f/5.6 or higher) to increase how much is in focus. Everyone loves the beautiful blurred look, but it is very difficult to nail the

Creative Scrapbooker | Winter 2019/2020 143

In the End Sometimes getting through the holiday season feels exactly the same as making it to the top of a snowy mountain on a crisp winter day. Once you get there – and you will – give yourself a high five! Now strap on your snowboards and take your time, enjoying the ride back down. In the end, holidays are about relaxing, rejuvenating, and reminding ourselves how very lucky we are even on the snowiest of days.

WHAT YOU’LL FIND IN THE SPRNG ISSUE: • Interactive Cards • We LOVE Pets • Terrific Tags • And so much more!
