March…. I love the month of March. The snow is melting, the birds are back singing and it seems that everyone has a bounce in there step. Did I mention that baseball spring training is also in full bloom? Yes I love March and with spring around the corner, I want to share a few very important dates with you: Our annual Bacon/Business meeting night is March 6 @ 6p.m. This meeting is all about our vision going forward. It is our goal to share with you what is what we believe the vision of our church going forward. Members are required to be there but if you attend ALCC and consider this to be your church, please join us. It is always great to be together around bacon, but look forward to sharing a few things with you around the future of our church.
Easter weekend! Yes Easter is early and we are celebrating all weekend long. Please join us for Good Friday and Easter Sunday. It is your opportunity to invite a guest to celebrate the reason for our church existence…He has risen, indeed he has. The other day I watched the movie Risen and it was a good start for me to ponder this month of March around the journey to the cross. Take this month and let’s reflect upon the goodness of our God. I want to thank you for reading this newsletter. We are a busy church filled with love and lots of good things happening. As you pray for our church, please remember to pray for each other by name. I love the way our church prays and want to encourage you to spend some extra time with Jesus this month. Staying connected! PB and Kathy
Easter is a time of truth. How God truly viewed sin. How God truly wanted to deal with death. How God truly loved us. How God truly couldn’t be held down. How God truly wants us free! I was at a men’s retreat and one of the speakers said to us, “You may be saved but you are not free.” In John 8:31-35, we find Jesus sharing with people who believed in Him, that very thing. These men learned of the issue of not being truly free. They said, “Look, I’m a believer, I have a great family tree, I’m not a slave to be set free.” We sometimes fall into denial as well. How many of us are trapped by our hurts, habits, hang-ups, sin, negative thoughts, emotions and listening to the lies? Jesus came to set us free! Jesus said in John 8:31-32, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” First step, come to Jesus, accept His love that covers what is enslaving you. (Romans 5:8, 1 Peter 4:8). Get into the Bible; read it, live it, soak your mind with the Word and be grounded (Matthew 4:4). The Word is the truth (John 17:17), full of promises (2 Corinthians 1:20), it reveals how He truly views us (John 15:16), it increase our faith (Romans 10:17) and shows us how we can live free in this world (2 Peter 1:4). The Word shows us that He protect us (2 Thessalonians 3:3) and we are to guard our entire being from the evil one (Ephesians 6:10-18). Jesus said to abide/accept/live/hold onto/stand by/follow His Word! It’s the truth that clears up and exposes the lies, accusations, the negativity that are truly empty. There are so many more truths in the Bible and those truths will set you free!
The truth sets me free, Tony

Sunday nights at 6:30, we gather together with a single purpose: to know each other, a new person, and Jesus better. The sharing of our hopes, questions and lives builds relationships with each other and God. To know that you are welcome, to feel that you belong, and to be valued are essentials in building a faith community. You are welcome, and we welcome you!

Since 2003
Step 7: HUMILITY We humbly ask Him to remove our shortcomings. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1Jn 1:9) Step (7) is about walking in humility. After examining our life closely (as we did in Steps Four, Five, and Six,) we may feel cut off from God. Considering the scope of what we have done, we may feel unworthy to ask God for anything. Maybe our sinful behaviors are despised as the lowest kind of evil by those whom we consider respectable. We may struggle with self-hatred. Our genuine remorse may cause us to wonder if we even dare approach God to ask for his help. God welcomes us, even when we feel this way, Jesus told this story: Two men went to the temple to pray. One was a Pharisee, and the other was a dishonest tax collector. The proud Pharisee stood by himself and prayed this prayer: I thank you, God, that I am not a sinner like everyone else, especially like that tax collector over there! For I never cheat, I don’t sin, I don’t commit adultery, I fast twice a week, and I give you a tenth of my income.’ But the tax collector stood at a distance and dared not even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed. Instead, he beat his chest in sorrow, saying, ‘O God, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner. ‘ I tell you, this sinner, not the Pharisee, returned justified before God. For the proud will be humbled, but the humble will be honored” (Luke 18: 10-14) NLT. When we put our life in God’s hands, he will reshape us as he sees fit. It is our humility that allows us to accept the fact that he is the Creator. Our new life may be similar to the one we left behind or entirely different. God is the master craftsman. Whatever he does, we can trust that he will recreate our life beautifully, one we get out of his way!

His Torch
I'd like to invite you to read my mini series that gives birth to 10 mini chapters. I feel like the Holy Spirit has spoken through me and has literally helped me to give birth to this article which at the end of the series I pray I can bring us closer to Jesus. God is the Owner of Everything.
I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens, for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird in the mountains, and the insects in the fields are mine. If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it. Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats? ~Psalm 50:9-13 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. ~Luke 3:6 Then the Lord opened the donkey’s mouth, and it said to Balaam, “What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?” Balaam answered the donkey, “You have made a fool of me! If only I had a sword in my hand, I would kill you right now.” The donkey said to Balaam, “Am I not your own donkey, which you have always ridden, to this day? Have I been in the habit of doing this to you?”“No,” he said. Then the Lord opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the road with his sword drawn. So he bowed low and fell facedown. ~Numbers 22:28-31 I am not trying to tell you how to live, this is simply what the Holy Spirit has been sharing with me and it is has been screaming at me to get it out. I pray you as the reader read this series and see the Holy Spirit working through me. The holy spirit has been shouting at me to get this out so I must give credit where credit is due. If we look deep enough we can attribute everything to God and find a purpose to live more soft heartedly and faithfully if we really want to, of course that is what God desires from us.
Burning bright and lighting a way with His word, For the commandment is a lamp, and the law a light.. Let's burn bright together for our Savior. ♡mer♡
