Life is a Journey…. The month of April begins with a special celebration of life! Easter weekend will begin with our special Good Friday brunch and communion. On Easter Sunday, we will have a time of celebration because it is the big day, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. That is our passion and our greatest joy. Jesus didn’t stay on the cross but indeed did rise as he said. Also, I am looking to a nice warm month as we prepare for the Way of St. James. It is hard to imagine after so many years of waiting, it is finally going to happen. To be honest, I am very nervous and wonder about all the unknowns and things I can’t control. Someone asked me why I would punish my body so much with an 800 km walk? My answer: It is not about the destination, it is about the journey. I know that God is going to be with me and that makes the journey worthwhile. Promises like Proverbs 3:5-6, stand out in my mind… Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight. Friends as we look into April, take some time to reflect upon the good things of God in your life. If you struggle to find something, look to the Bible. There is lots there! We are so blessed as the people of God to have Jesus Christ in our lives and to be a part of the journey we are experiencing. I want to encourage you to remain focused on Christ in the days ahead because he has His eyes on you. Walking with you in this journey of faith, PB and Kathy PAUSE: think of something that God has done for you . . . RESUME: How great is our God! He shows that He is able, shows that He cares, shows that He is with you and shows that He is for you. Notice how I speak about God in the present even though it’s in the past. God was, is and will be.(Rev 1:8) In Isaiah 43, we see how God’s people linger in the past. Of course, God doesn’t want them to forget the Exodus but He also doesn’t want them to think that God is done, that it was His first and final act. God straightens His people out in verse 18, “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old,”. Does that mean we forget about our past? No. He sees that His people are not living in present, not living for God today and not living like God is living. He encourages them in verse 19, “Behold . . .” whenever you see “behold”, God wants you to open your mind, your heart, your entire being for what He is about to speak into life. “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not see it?” God is at work, my friends. A work in those you are praying for, a work in your church, a work in you and He wants you to remember that He is not stale but relentlessly active! Historically in this passage, the people of God didn’t know that He was about to free them from the Babylonians just like He did in Egypt. Setting the captives free. Friends, this spring as the flowers bloom, remember that God is at work! I leave you with 2 Peter 3:18, “But grow in the Grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both NOW and to the day of eternity. Amen” In this together, Tony Mejia

The spiritual principle Step 7: HUMILITY We humbly ask Him to remove our shortcomings. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1John 1:9) Step (7) is about walking in humility. After examining our life closely (as we did in Steps Four, Five, and Six,) we may feel cut off from God. Considering the scope of what we have done, we may feel unworthy to ask God for anything. Maybe our sinful behaviors are despised as the lowest kind of evil by those whom we consider respectable. We may struggle with self-hatred. Our genuine remorse may cause us to wonder if we even dare approach God to ask for his help. God welcomes us, even when we feel this way, Jesus told this story: Two men went to the temple to pray. One was a Pharisee, and the other was a dishonest tax collector. The proud Pharisee stood by himself and prayed this prayer: I thank you, God, that I am not a sinner like everyone else, especially like that tax collector over there! For I never cheat, I don’t sin, I don’t commit adultery, I fast twice a week, and I give you a tenth of my income.’ But the tax collector stood at a distance and dared not even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed. Instead, he beat his chest in sorrow, saying, ‘O God, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner. ‘ I tell you, this sinner, not the Pharisee, returned justified before God. For the proud will be humbled, but the humble will be honored” (Luke 18: 10-14) NLT. When we put our life in God’s hands, he will reshape us as he sees fit. It is our humility that allows us to accept the fact that he is the Creator. Our new life may be similar to the one we left behind or entirely different. God is the master craftsman. Whatever he does, we can trust that he will recreate our life beautifully, one we get out of his way! COME JOIN US ON THURSDAY EVENING @ 7:00P.M.
