The Story begins…. Clutching his Bible, Pastor Hyeon Soo Lim says that without it he doubts he ever would have lived through 2 1/2 years of hard labour in a North Korean prison.“It did keep me alive,” he said. The story around Pastor Lim is gripping. Sentence to death and reduced to hard labor is heart wrenching. Yet in a recent interview, he claims the Bible is what kept him alive over the last season of his life. After one year of sentencing, the North Korean government granted his request for a bible. During the interview, he brought it out for all to see the book that kept him alive. Here is a man who understands the reality of God’s scriptures and what it can mean to our lives.

Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” The journey before us will be filled with lots of excitement. My experience has shown me, when a church engages the scriptures and get’s “on the same page”, good things happen. People’s lives begin to change, and we grow and learn more about God. One little challenge: Join a Life Group. These Bible centric groups will focus on what God is speaking to us about over the coming months ahead. May the Story begin…. As we journey ahead, that God’s story becomes our story. Growing with you! PB and Kathy When you read the Bible look for both storylines." - Randy Frazee. What two storylines? The LOWER & the UPPER story. The LOWER story speaks to a specific situation or particular person and the crisis, circumstances and challenges they face. And how they respond to God and others in the midst of it all. The lower story is about specifics. The lower story for Abram and Sarai in Chapter 2, their crisis, circumstances and challenge is that they have no son. In fact, they never had a baby. This was in a culture where having an heir was super important. So much so, that not having a heir was like being cursed. Then God comes along and promises them, not only a son but many, many descendants. The rest of Abram and Sarai's lower story is them facing their crisis, circumstances and challenges. They faced famine, threat of death and separation, then when receiving their promised son, asked to give up him up. Those things are the lower story. On the same page, Tony Mejia

Summer Students

Sarah and Claire made a huge impact on the Wonder Years Daycare. Because of them, Mer and Cathy were able to take some much needed vacation time. The WY Kids were treated the talents and gifts of these 2 young ladies.

The other half of their time was spent creating the artwork for THE STORY, assisting in the preparation of the KIDS STORY& the ongoing events of our IGNITE Youth Group. They have been very busy!

OUR STORY

Since 2006

Each one of us has a valuable story to tell. We may be shy and feel awkward about speaking. We may think that what we have to share is too trivial. Is it actually going to help anyone else? We may struggle to get beyond the shame of our past experiences. But our recovery story can help others who are trapped back where we were. Are we willing to allow God to use us to help free others? Jesus left us with this vital task: “Go into all the world and preach the Good News of salvation from the bondage and penalty of sin to everyone” (Mark 16:15). The apostle Paul traveled the world over telling everyone of his conversion. He ended up in chains, but his spirit was free. He presented his defense (and his own story of redemption) before kings. King Agrippa interrupted him to say, “Do you think you can persuade me to become a Christian so quickly?” Paul replied, “Whether quickly or not, I pray to God that both you and everyone here in this audience might become the same as I am, except for these chains”. Within each personal journey from bondage to freedom is a microcosm of the Gospel. When people hear our story, even if it seems trivial, we are offering them the chance to loosen their chains and begin their own recovery. Come and join us Thursday evenings to share your experience, strength & hope with others.
