OCTOBER 2016
Everything has a beginning. Every person, every idea, every journey starts somewhere. Whether it's one small step in a new direction or a major event, from that point forward nothing is ever the same. It's not always comfortable. It's not always easy. But it's a start

Celebration…. Today I celebrate the greatness of our God in how he used all of you in our Meet Your Neighbor day. Watching you work so hard to love our community was very inspiring for me and I was a very proud Pastor. About 464 registered without either church in that number. Lot of neighbors are hoping this will happen again. So, that is good news. No longer are we looking from the outside in, but we are part of Carling! Today I celebrate with you and thank you for all your sacrificing in putting up posters, passing out bookmarks, the day itself and so much more: Thank you. You demonstrated the greatest of all commandments: Love your neighbor as yourself! Now we are looking into October. Lots going on surrounded by Thanksgiving. A new children’s ministry! Small Groups are alive and doing well. New Ladies Bible Study. Brand new series called Starting Point. Wow, lots going on. As we celebrate another Fall season, let’s pause to thank the Lord for His goodness to us. Most of us have jobs. Almost all of us have homes to stay warm at night. All of us have God in our lives. So much to be grateful. What are you grateful for today? Finally, I am grateful to Kathy and Tony who worked a great deal of time on making our Meet Your Neighbor Day a success. Countless hours of prep and sacrifice. They demonstrated a great deal of courage, strength and love in serving us. We are blessed. Along with you, I know my heart is filled with a little more gratitude for them. Let’s celebrate church for his goodness in sending so many people to love. Celebrating Thanksgiving with you! PB and Kathy "I AM grateful!" - not so grateful when someone tells us that we're not grateful. It irks us. Bothers us. If the person was right or not, gratefulness seems to be a priority in our lives. Thinking about it, when I am grateful, I am more content, more generous, more appreciative, more forthright about how I feel and I act on it. Like the woman in Luke 7. She burst into a room full of religious men and bawls, begins to wash Jesus' feet with expensive fragrant oil, she wipes her tears off Jesus' feet with her hair and even kisses his feet (Luke 7:36-38). Talk about expressing gratefulness. I couldn't imagine what was going through her head before, during and after. She had to make that decision knowing that there was going to be others watching but she was full of gratefulness and did it anyways. Why? Well, first, the men there were jerks. They judged her and Jesus (Luke 7:39) but Jesus didn't and wouldn't waste her act of gratefulness. Jesus turns their attention to the fact that anyone with large debt would be extremely grateful if it was forgiven. They are guys. Jesus went on saying that this woman is grateful because she had a lot forgiven and she is now loved more than ever. No one would argue that. (Luke 7:40-50). I'm grateful that I was like that woman. In need and now grateful for Jesus in my life. Now expressing it through love (1 Peter 4:8). Ask yourself: are you grateful? Living the life of gratefulness, Tony Mejia
