Introduction Lane lines. Splash splash. “Go go”. It’s swimming! You might have questions about swimming, how long is the pool? What are the strokes? How many lanes are there? Well i will teach and answer all of your questions! Flip the page to be a swim genius!

Chapter 1- Strokes Freestyle When you do freestyle you kick your legs and scoop your arms into the water. Freestyle is the most popular stroke.

Breaststroke In breaststroke you do a different kick then freestyle. The hand movements kindoff look like you are clearing away the water. Backstroke In backstroke you are on your BACK! You also flip your arms back. You kick too (same kick as freestyleflutter kick.) Butterfly In butterfly you through both of your arms at the same time they meet at your chin and when they hit the water it makes a BIG splash. The kick is dolphin kick. Just like a dolphin. I.M I.M starts at 11 year old kids and goes up to kids that are 18 ! I.M is all the strokes here is the order butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle.

Chapter 2- Meets /Competition

Usually how Many on a Team On our team there is 271 ! On other teams there is about the same amount. Also there is like 5 kids missing (not at the meet) every meet. How Long is a Meet A meet can be up to 2 ½ (half) hours. Most of them only go up to 2 hours and 15 minutes. Relay The relay at the end of the meet. Every age group does it. In the relay there is two people on each side of the pool. On one side is a little board, the first person goes of the board then, when that person gets to the other side the next person will go right away when one person touches the wall. And on.

Chapter 3 - Gear Swim Pants Swim pants are tight. So you can swim fast. They have really long strings (knots) on them. Cap The cap is tight also. To put on a cap One person holds it from the back and pull it over your head. Goggles When you put goggles on you put the back on the back of your head and pull the front to your eyes. By the way you need to put your cap on before your goggles. What Brands you Should get (mirror) You should get mirror goggles and Tyr brand. Mirror goggles are more expensive but help you see better. Cap and goggles

Chapter 4 - Length of the Pool

Flags In the water are two flags. They are at both ends of the pool five yards away from the end of the pool. When you are doing backstroke and you get to the end of the pool you count your hands(you count how many hands you are throwing back)so you know when you are going to reach the end of the pool also so you don't bang your head of the wall. Black Ring on Laneline There are two black rings on the laneline . One is half of the pool it warns you about the second one the second one means if you go past it under water you are disqualified How Many Lengths we Swim We swim one length for every stroke. The pool is twentyfive yards. An average eight and under would get about twenty seconds in freestyle. How Many Lengths in the Pool Guess how many lengths in the pool. If you guessed six you right! In every lane is a small board.

Chapter 5 - Other

Age Groups There is six different age groups they are eight and under, nine and ten, eleven and twelve, thirteen and fourteen, fifteen and sixteen, and seventeen and up. How Many Lengths Each Age Group Swims Eight and under swims one length and nine and ten swim two and all the other age groups do two too. I.M. starts at nine and ten but they rarely use nine and tens for I.M. they only use them if somebody from I.M is missing and they decide to use a nine and ten. What you Should Bring You should bring a deck of any cards or an electronic device. You should also bring your goggles and cap. OF COURSE. How Many Hands Touch for Each Stroke In freestyle you touch with one hand because you are throwing one hand at a time. In back you also touch with one hand because you are throwing one hand at a time. For butterfly and breast you touch with two hands because you are moving both arms at the same time. Where the Championships are in Summer and Winter In the summer the championships are at our home pool,Gath pool. And in the winter the championships are in Walpole. For both champions it is VERY loud because all 24 teams are there.
