a letter from your ltg

GUY SUANKAEW HIYA SEALS!

The summer break has just approached us and I have a few things I want to let you all know about! First, I hope you enjoy your three months of no school! I know it has probably been a tiring year for you all with all that studying and all-nighters. However, I know many of us have summer school and I want to let you know that I FEEL YOU! I have three classes over summer so expect me to get some nice gucci bags under my eyes! I will still continue to serve you all with the most energy possible though! Remember sealios, SERVICE NEVER SLEEPS, even during the summer where the heat can knock you out! CONTINUE TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY YOU LIVE IN AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE OVER THIS PERIOD OF TIME. Anyways, since school is over, we can all do more service now! Expect tons of activities over this summer as we have a lot more time now to focus on Key Club! You might also have summer assignments, get those done and don’t procrastinate! It has been over two months now that I have been able to serve this division. All I can say now is that seeing your faces at these events really gives me energy although I may be wiped! Thank you all for coming out and taking time out of your busy lives to be a part of this division, I really appreciate all the love!

- Guy Suankaew | Arroyo High School

may dcm Although it was extremely hot outside, I had a really fun time at this month’s DCM. Not only did we raise money for MNT, but we got to pie our president, Kevin, in the process. Unfortunately, he got his revenge by pieing me back, but it was all for a good cause. I also enjoyed working together and bonding while we were making plarn. - Caitlin Robles | Arcadia High School

finish the

ride, run, walk n’ roll

At Finish the Ride, Run, Walk n’ Roll, there were different races happening throughout the day for each type of athlete. Driving by, people could see multiple people all trying to complete the event in a variety of transportations: bikes, roller skates, running, or even just walking. Volunteers helped with goodie bags for the athletes and traffic control to ensure their safety. On such a hot day, members also helped with water stations throughout the course. At the end of the day, volunteers helped clean up the area and break down the tents and tables. - Dana Hua | El Monte High School

one las

division banquet

On June 4th, several Glendora High School Key Club board members attended the D35W Banquet at Casa De Sanchez in La Puente. Titled “One Last Time”, the event served as an incredible way to reflect on the accomplishments of our division this year as well as give a rousing sendoff to those leaving us. Those who attended the event agreed that they had a great time pigging out on Italian food, listening to heartfelt speeches, and getting to know other Key Club members they wouldn’t have otherwise gotten to meet, and that’s what these events do best. Not only does it allow us to jump into our next term strong, but we also become a lot closer with our division. Even if we all come from different schools and backgrounds, we can all bond over the fact that we’re all doing our best to help and make the world a better place. So all of us here at Glendora High School Key Club would like to give one last thank-you to LTG Dylan Tran, and anyone else leaving the Key Club team. We appreciate all that you’ve done and we’ll continue to work hard at improving our community.

- Billie Jean Hohler | Glendora High School

Banquet is a time to reflect on all that was accomplished during the term and to celebrate our achievements as a division. At the divisional banquet, we were able to recognize the spirit, service, and dedication that was put into the 2016-2017 term. Although it seems as if yesterday was the beginning of IP LTG (Immediate Past Lieutenant Governor) Dylan Tran’s term, it was time for his final sign off. The banquet was themed “One Last Time” to represent how the division will come together with Dylan and celebrate with him for one last time.

Book andsafety Bikefair My time at the Book and Bike Safety Fair was pretty fun. It was everything a Key Club event should be, with lots of community helping activities and fun moments. We helped set up in the Arcadia Park and also helped take down everything at the end. After setting up, I hung around with my friends and waited for the DCM to start. Overall, I had a great time at the Book and Bike Safety Fair and definitely recommend it to anyone with the free time. - Keith Kwong | Glen A. Wilson High School

June DCM was fun! Before the DCM we did community service by giving free books to kids. My school got Club of the Month! After the DCM, we got to learn cheers and it was fun to practice them with other Key Clubbers. I hope we win the spirit stick at Region Picnic! - Bonnie Yeh | Sierra Vista High School

The Chronicles from the Pump Track event was a very eye-opening experience! I got a chance to help out the community and at the same time meet new friends along the way! Pulling and picking up weeds on the track can be tough at first, but with all volunteers contributing together and getting the job done it’s just an amazing experience! Our coordinator from the pump track made sure we all took a break and ate some snacks that were provided in order to gain some energy back. In the end, some volunteers even got the chance to try out the bike track for the first time!! - Jennifer Vu Tran | Arroyo High School

Officer Tra

leadership throug

OTC, also known as Officer Training Conference, was held at Mountain View High School for 2017. The theme this year was Winnie-the-Pooh. A total of four sessions excluding opening and closing sessions were held in seperate rooms. The four sessions were designed to teach both members and officers about the basics of being a Key Clubber and what to do with overcoming obstacles. We learned about the positions we were in and what we have to do while also getting involved. To many Key Clubbers like Bonnie Beiken this event was a first. “My first OTC was a great experience because I met so many new people and learned that KEY CLUB HAS MANY MORE POSSIBILITIES THAT COULD HELP CHANGE WHO I AM AS A PERSON. I enjoyed assisting in hosting this event and look forward to running for an officer or division position someday said Bonnie.

gh the hundred acre woods

Everyone who attended OTC this past weekend got to learn about holding a position in their club and how everyone plays a major role. Many learned the importance of being able to take charge while others learned the importance of including everyone. My favorite presentation was “BEEing a leader.” In this workshop we learned the difference between taking charge and being demanding. I also enjoyed this workshop because it’s where I managed to meet a group of new people who were really nice! - Brissa Rico | Duarte High School
