The Awards and Recognition Committee of 2020-2021 reserves the right to submissions for International judging in May. INTERNATIONAL ONLY The following awards are available to clubs in the CNH KIWIN’S Disitrict but must be done indepenently and submitted to Key Club International. These awards will not be featured or presented at DCON. See Key Club International Guidebook for more information. Membership Growth Award Key of Honor


CRITERIA It is the utmost importance that all criteria are read correctly and completed correctly. Be sure to include all required forms, recommendations, and signatures. These items vary by award and failure to abide by these parameters will result in disqualification.Double check that all steps are followed when submitting via email.

DISQUALIFICATION Any deviations from the judging criteria for any contest/award will result in immediate disqualification. Any suspicion activity (e.g forgeries) on an award submission will also result in disqualification. The Awards and Recognition Committee reserves the right to revoke recognition for inappropriate behavior or harassment.

DISTINGUISHED CLUB GUIDELINES Rules Governing the Impromptu Essay Contest The Impromptu Essay will be conducted according to the following rules: A) This contest will be held at a designated time and place via Zoom. B) Each CNH KIWIN’S Club in good standing with Cal-Nev-Ha KIWIN’S and Key Club International will be able to select one club member to participate in the contest. C) Each entrant will write an essay of up to 500 words on a topic unknown to the contestants in advance. D) The following guidelines will be enforced for this contest: 1. All essays must be neatly handwritten. 2. Contestants are not permitted to use any outside notes, electronic equipment, printed materials or any other references during this contest. 3. Essays must pertain to the topic. Essays that fail to address the topic will be disqualified. Essays will be judges on a basis of quality not quantity E) Judging and awarding points will be based on the following criteria: Original...........................30 points Organization...................25 points Development of Topic...25 points Grammar........................20 points

DISTINGUISHED CLUB GUIDELINES Rules Governing the Keeping in KIWIN’S Spirit Contest One of the distinguishing characteristics of the CNH KIWIN’S District Convention is the abundance of spirit and enthusiasm. The battle for the glory of the KIKS Spirit Award has been a long sought tradition, which has always heightened a member’s experience at CNH KIWIN’S District Convention. What started out as just an award has manifested into one of the greatest honors a club can receive. Clubs cheer their hearts out and display pride in their schools and divisions through little gifts and dances performed throughout the convention. For this District Convention, clubs will have the chance to particpate and show their spirit virutally. The KIKS Award will be conducted according to the following rules: A) Each CNH KIWIN’S Club in good standing with Cal-Nev-Ha KIWIN’S and Key Club International will be able to particpate. All particpants must register for District Convention. B) The KIWIN’S Club may plan different activities on social media platforms. These can include posts, videos, filters, overlays, etc. C) During the Zoom sessions, clubs may particpate through wearing costumes, virtual backgrounds and engagement in the public chat. D) Interruptions during general sessions, caucus sessions, and/or workshops may result in disqualification. Submissions will be compiled into a Google Drive and submitted by the deadline.

DISTINGUISHED CLUB GUIDELINES Rules Governing the Oratorical Contest The Oratorical Contest will be conducted according to the following rules: The subject matter of the oration and the presentation must be original and completely developed by each orator. Contest and presentation will be considered equally in judging. A) Each orator will be allowed maximum of five minutes for his/her presentation. Exceeding the time limit may result in a penalty. B) Each orator must be an official member in good standing with Key Club International. Judging and awarding points will be based on the following criteria: C) Speech: Clarity of message and projection of ideas................25 points Depth.............................................................................5 points Originality.......................................................................5 points Structure (organization, grammar, transition)..............15 points D) Delivery: Presence (posture, gesture, engage audience).........15 points Voice (tone, diction, effectiveness)............................15 points Ease of presentation....................................................15 points Attention of audience...................................................5 points E) The winning orator from the organized KIWIN’S District will be eligible for the International Oratorical Contest. They will have been selected from outstanding club orators speaking on the same subject at the various District Conventions. F) Each club is allowed two participants, registered at District Convention. G) The Chairman or other designated CNH KIWIN’S will act as an official fimer. They will warn each orator at designated times by either standing or using time cards. At the end of the allotted time of five minutes, they will call time. The orator will be permitted to finish the sentence without penalty. (i) The order of speaking will be determined by a random drawing.

After his/her presentation, he/she must leave the room and return to the regular convention program J) If convention scheduling permits, one orator will be selected to present his/her oration at the Awards Ceremony.

DISTINGUISHED CLUB GUIDELINES Rules Governing the Year-In-Review Contest A CNH KIWIN’S Club may enter a traditional or digital scrapbook containing pictures, souvenirs,examples, news clippings, etc., of its activities during the 2020-2021 Year. Key Clubs should submit their scrapbooks to their districts according to the instructions A) B) C)

Each scrapbook must be divided into these categories: service to school; service to community; fundraising projects; assistance to Kiwanis projects; Major Emphasis involvement; and miscellaneous. (The Major Emphasis theme, Children: Their Future, Our Focus, is detailed on page 44 of the Key Club Guidebook.) Pages must be numbered, and a table of contents along with the contest entry form should be at the beginning of the scrapbook. Each traditional scrapbook must be made of pages no larger than 14 x 14 inches (35.5 x 35.5 cm). For digital scrapbooks, PPT, PPTX, ODP and PDF are all supported presentation file types. The sum of the scrapbook’s cost may not exceed US$300. The contest entry form must contain the following: Key Club name, city, state/province, district and an itemized budget for the scrapbook. This statement must be signed by the Key Club president and faculty advisor, stating that the entry’s retail cost value (including photographic materials) does not exceed $300.
