The Awards and Recognition Committee of 2020-2021 reserves the right to submissions for International judging in May. INTERNATIONAL ONLY The following awards are available to clubs in the CNH KIWIN’S Disitrict but must be done indepenently and submitted to Key Club International. These awards will not be featured or presented at DCON. See Key Club International Guidebook for more information. Membership Growth Award Key of Honor


CRITERIA It is the utmost importance that all criteria are read correctly and completed correctly. Be sure to include all required forms, recommendations, and signatures. These items vary by award and failure to abide by these parameters will result in disqualification.Double check that all steps are followed when submitting via email.

DISQUALIFICATION Any deviations from the judging criteria for any contest/award will result in immediate disqualification. Any suspicion activity (e.g forgeries) on an award submission will also result in disqualification. The Awards and Recognition Committee reserves the right to revoke recognition for inappropriate behavior or harassment.

DISTINGUISHED CLUB GUIDELINES Rules Governing the Distinguished Club The Distinguished Club Award shall provide recognition to individual clubs for their overall performance in the combined areas of club administration, member retention, leadership development, Kiwanis family involvement, and fundraising as judged against a pre-established standard of excellence. The Distinguished Club Award shall provide recognition to the CNH KIWIN’S Clubs that have demonstrated overall club excellence during the District administrative year. A) Entries shall use the Official Annual Achievement Report Form (attached). The Awards shall also enter all entries in the Club Achievement Awards program in the Distinguished Club program. Entries shall be judged based upon achieving a percentage of accumulated B) points of accumulated points in the categories of the club Annual Achievement Report. Clubs achieving a predetermined score shall be designated as a “Distinguished Club.” The Key Club International Board shall set the minimum number of points required for this designation. C) Only activities, which occurred during the administrative year (DCON 2020 to DCON 2021), shall be included in this report. D) During the judging process, each entry shall be given a point total based on its achievement and qualities to determine which clubs shall be recognized for the Distinguished Club Award. E) Disqualification from the Club Achievement Awards Program shall also constiute disqualification from the Distinguished Club Award (District). F) The point value to achieve the Distinguished Club shall be a predetermined number set by the Key Club International Board of Trustees.

MAJOR EMPHASIS PROGRAM GUIDELINES Rules Governing the Major Emphasis Program The KIWIN’S Key Club Major Emphasis is Live2Learn. Members’ goals are to help children cooperate and achieve collaborated success. The Major Emphasis Program Award isthe award given to the CNH KIWIN’S Key Club—through unselfish efforts—that has produced the best Major Emphasis Program Project during the term. The winning report advances to international competition. The MajorEmphasis Award shall provide recognition to Key Clubs for a commendable project relating to “Children: Their Future, Our Focus.” The Major Emphasis Program will be conducted according to the following rules: A) Only one winner in the district contest will be eligible for entry in the International competition. B) Submit a typed report in a pressboard/plastic report cover in section G describing the club’s involvement with the Major Emphasis Program. Each section within section G must begin on a new page and have a heading specifying the section. C) The official Major Emphasis report cover sheet must accompany each entry. MINOR EMPHASIS PROGRAM GUIDELINES Rules Governing the Minor Emphasis Program Pediatric Trauma affects children from infancy to age nineteen. It is a result of motor vehicle accidents, physical abuse, drowning accidents, falls, and animal bites, making it the leading cause of death of children in the United States. To prevent these accidents and injuries from happening, KIWIN'S has focused on fighting Pediatric Trauma through raising funds and by increasing general awareness through education. Established in 1992, Pediatric Trauma Prevention is a main focus of KIWIN'S in conjunction with California-Nevada-Hawaii Kiwanis. Cal-Nev-Ha KIWIN’S strives to exemplify support by annually raising funds, spreading knowledge, and reaching out to incorporate the objectives of PTP into various service projects. The official partners of Key Club International are UNICEF, Children’s Miracle Network, March of Dimes, and PediatRic Trauma Program (PTP) and UNICEF The Partners in Service will be conducted according to the following rules: A) A club is eligible if it is in good standing with CNH KIWIN’S District and Key Club International. C) The activities described must cover the club’s participation with the official partners of Key Club International performed between the 2020 District Convention and the 2021 District Convention. SANDY NININGER MEDAL GUIDELINES Rules Governing the Sandy Nininger Medal In 1946, Key Club International formally named Lieutenant Alexander R. Nininger Jr. as the ideal Key Club member. The Sandy Nininger Medal was created in his memory and is awarded to high school graduates who have distinguished themselves by making the most of their opportunities – disregarding any school aver-age or group standard. It honors individuals in terms of their own abilities andweaknesses, opportunities and lack of opportunities. The high school graduate who most exemplifies the tradition begun by Sandy Nininger and has given of themselves “above and beyond the call of duty” will be awarded at the CNH KIWIN’S District Convention with this honorable award. The Sandy Nininger Medal will be conducted according to the following rules: A) The applicant must be in the graduating class of 2021 and be a dues paid Cal-Nev-Ha KIWIN’S District member B) The nominee cannot be an officer or CNH KIWIN’S Member of the Year applicant C) The applicant must have a minimum of 10 service hours D) The application must include (in this order): 1. A. Clubs shall compete with other clubs of similar size within four membership categories: Bronze, being 35 members or less; Silver, being 36 to 60 members; Gold, being 61 to 85 members; and Platinum, being 86 members or more. D. Entries shall be judged based upon an accumulated total of points allocated to the following categories: service need, 10 points; project plan, 20 points; project implementation, 20 points; final results, 25 points; public awareness, 10 points; member participation, 15 points. E. Only activities which occurred during the district administrative year shall be included on the report. Clubs existing within a nondistricted area shall report activities occurring between May 1 and the following April 30.

F. Judging of all entries within each district shall determine one first place winner, and other levels of recognition as deemed appropriate, in each membership category. Each first place report should be forwarded to Key Club International for competition with other first place winners. No changes may be made in the report by the club, district or judging committee. Reports must be received by the first Friday in May. G. All entries from non-districted clubs shall be judged to also produce a first place winner in each category. Reports must be received by the first Friday in May. H. An entry may be disqualified by the judges for reporting incorrect or false information or failure to submit a report according to the rules of the district’s competition. Any disqualification at the district level requires the approval of the district administrator or his/her designee. An entry may be disqualified by the judges at the International level for the same reasons, and any disqualification requires the approval of the International Director. I. Suitable recognition should be provided to clubs achieving first place and other places at district and International levels of competition. At each level of judging, the decisions of the judges are final. No changes, alterations or re-grading will take place after the results have been certified by the judges.

KIWANIS FAMILY RELATIONS GUIDELINES Rules Governing Single Fundraiser Each CNH KIWIN’S Club is responsible for holding numerous fundraisers to raise money for activities (including cost of DCON for members), donating to charities, and other expenditures for members. This award acknowledges the use of creativity, originality, and financial success of a fundraising project. The Single Fundraiser will be conducted according to the following rules: A) A club is eligible if it is in good standing with CNH KIWIN’S District and Key Club International. B) Fundraising date must be within DCON 2020 to DCON 2021. The fundraising event must have occured in a continuous block of time excluding planning. Entries that occured in discontinuous time periods will be disqualified. C) Money received must be for the club’s treasury (funds needed for charitable and administrative purposes) for an organization (e.g. March of Dimes, UNICEF, PTP, etc.) or a combination. D) Club members and officers must be the organizers. Donations or awards from contests will not be considered. E) A fundraiser sponsored by a school (e.g. International Week, Club Day), an orga nization (e.g. 24-Hour Famine), or another K-Family organization will not be con sidered. TALENT SHOW CONTEST GUIDELINES Rules Governing Talent Show Contest The Talent Show Contest will be conducted according to the following rules: A) Any CNH KIWIN’S member in good standing is eligible to audition for the talent contest. In order to audition, a form including the member’s name, club and district must be received by February 06, 2021. B) A CNH KIWIN’S Club may participate in up to two acts at DCON. C) A talent contest entry may take any form as long as it is entertaining and in good taste. Members should demonstrate their ability and entertainment in the Form of a video audition. The most entertaining six to eight acts will be selected To appear in the District Convention Talent Show. Selection of acts by the judges will be final. D) The first and second place winners will be eligible to compete at the Key Club International Convention. E) No performance must exceed five minutes. F) Any materials (props, instruments, costumes, etc.) needed for each perfomance must be supplied by the contestants who participate in the performance. Pianos are available but the need for one must be noted on the application. OUTSTANDING SOCIAL MEDIA GUIDELINES Social Media outlets are a way of publicizing information to club members and display the acitivities of the club in a visually effective way. The Outstanding Social Media award is given to the club or division that takes advantage of the social media outlets by promoting, publicizing and utilizing engaging content to communicate and recruit members. The Outstanding Social Media award will be conducted according to the following rules: A) Submit an E-Portolio containing screenshots of your Social Media handle and provide links in the E-mail submission. Individual schools may only submit one application . Individual divisions may only submit one application. B) There will be TWO Check-Ups for this award. This means that it requires TWO submissions, one at the due date of Section 1 and the final at the due date of Section 2. C) The Social Media handle should be easily accessible to members and must consistenly update members on a regular basis. It must also demonstrate engagement with members through comments, messages etc. (EX. Instagram stories with Q&As, quizzes etc.) D) The Social Media handle must contain original photos, graphics and videos produced by the club or division, produced by a CNH KIWIN’S member(s). E) The Social Media handle must follow Key Club International Graphic Standards. F) E-SIGNATURES: This submission required electronic signatures by the applicant and Faculty Advisor or Kiwanis Advisor. E-Signatures represent the fact that the individuals listed have apporved the application and supporting documentation. The Awards and Recognition Committee may contact these individuals for further verification. Please do not use digital signatures. E-Signature forms can be found on the following page. G) The decision of the judges are final. No changes, alterations, or regradings will take place after the results have been certified by the judges and the Awards and Recognition Chair
