FEBRUARY RECAP
P A S T EVENTS
Farm Clean-Up
February 18, 2017 Key Clubbers devoted their Saturday morning to give back to the school’s incredibly productive farm. Under the direction of Mr. Craig Duff and his students and members of the school’s Future Farmers of America (FFA), students were split up into groups to perform numerous tasks that ranged from beautifying the orchid house to cleaning up the hydroponics tent. I, along with other Key Club and LEO Club members, took to the Hydroponics tent and ripped old carpeting to saw into smaller pieces. These pieces were then thrown into a wheelbarrow that was later pushed up a treacherous hill to dump into a dumpster. In 80-degree weather, we were sweat-drenched, tire-limbed and dust-covered Key Clubbers by the end of our shift. It was laborious work, but was all certainly rewarding in the end. It was definitely insightful to learn of the school’s future plans with the farm. I learned that the school had raised pigs in the past and was resourceful in utilizing them for a Kalua Pork fundraiser. Their plans for the aquaponics tent included the farming of crawfish, which I thought to be incredibly interesting! Current FFA members spoke of their experiences with the academic club and how it benefits them as people and as caretakers for the Earth. This experience of working in the farm was undeniably an amazing experience to learn and give back to our lovely planet.

FEBRUARY RECAP
DCM/Movie Night February 18, 2017
Movie Night, held on February 18, was definitely a night to remember--the evening was filled with laughter, joy, and cherished moments. As a way to show the value of caring, each Key Clubber brought a food or beverage item to share. The night started out with an informative DCM, in which our club’s past and future events were discussed. Then, we had a bit of a struggle deciding whether to watch Finding Dory or High School Musical; however, we ended up watching Finding Dory by popular vote. After all, who could say “no” to a movie that followed a cute, funny fish? (Nobody, that’s who.) Regardless, we still satisfied those who would have rather watched High School Musical by playing the first song sung by Troy and Gabriella. Everyone started singing and dancing along to it, which was the part that stood out to me the most. Not only did everyone have a fun time, but we also got to bond with one another. Thus, I really enjoyed this club bonding because it allowed me to further know the other Key Club members!
