INTRODUCTION

TREASURER’S MESSAGE

Hiya Key Clubbers! Can you guys believe how quickly the school year has passed? Nevertheless, the ending of our school year shouldn't be accompanied by the ending of our service projects. The required hours for this month is 5. Also, thank you all for doing such a good job at the Kiwanis Breakfast! Let's end this school year with a bang! And remember, serving is our way of life.

Geneva Dela Cruz Treasurer, Kaua’i High Key Club

APRIL RECAP

DCM (April) April 17, 2016

On April 17th, I attended my first Division Council Meeting (DCM) as the club's new VP of Service. The meeting was held through video chat with clubs from Waiakea and Hilo High School. This was a new experience for me to attend a meeting through video chat. Although we didn't have a camera to use so they could see us, it's something I could get used to. At the meeting, all of the new officers introduced themselves, including me. Then, we started talking about old business, new business, and how we could change things up a bit for the better. I learned that in order to make new innovative ideas, you would need some creativity along with it in order to solve problems differently. Overall, the DCM was a great experience and everyone should attend it so that they're updated. Rendle Mones Vice President of Service, Kaua’i High Key Club

P A S T EVENTS

Grove Farm Fair

April 2, 2016

My time at Grove Farm was the most fun I had in a while. The event had many great games, and people had fun with many of the shows that took place. I was chosen to help with one of the games, “Ring the Bell”. It was fun seeing many people, young and old, having fun swinging away. Everyone was having a great time. But the most memorable event that took place was definitely the pie eating contest. Many other Key Clubbers participated, including me. All I can remember was the mess on everyone's faces. After the pie eating contest, everyone was ready to go back to our booths with smiles—and some pie—on our faces. Adrian Casasola Member, Kaua’i High Key Club

CAK Show April 8-9, 2016

The Contractor Association of Kaua'i Show, or CAK Show, was a wonderful experience. Our job as Key Clubbers was to greet people at the front table by saying, "Hello," "Thank you for coming," and "Enjoy the rest of your day/night." We also got to hand out bags and flyers to be filled out in order to be entered in a Las Vegas drawing. From the people we met to seeing the exciting booths such as the First Hawaiian Bank, my first time working here as a Key Clubber was successful. In the end, the CAK Show was very enjoyable and I hope Key Club will help out the next time this event happens again. Alvin Calma Sergeant-at-Arms, Kaua’i High Key Club

Kiwanis French Toast Breakfast March 4, 2016

At the Kiwanis French Breakfast, many members reported to the Wilcox Elementary cafeteria at 5:00 AM. The day started out with us cutting apples and oranges to make fruit salad. Then, we got the assembly line ready and started serving food at 6:30 AM. I collected tickets and Charlene gave the customers their food with a smile. We also had a boxing station because many people came in with multiple tickets. The order we had was 22 plates! I got a couple of boxes myself, and let me say—the breakfast food tasted delicious. There was even a trash station where the different types of waste were sorted, which is one step towards helping the planet. In the last shift, everybody swept and mopped the cafeteria floor. It was a very fun event and a great way to get to know some of the Kiwanis members. We also got to interact with the Kapa’a High Key Clubbers. The French Breakfast was a great success and I have been grateful to be a part of it. Renee Anderson-Navarro

KCC Spring Gourmet Gala April 15, 2016

On Friday, April 15th, Kaua’i High School Key Club volunteered at the 14th Annual KCC Spring Gourmet Gala. This event happened on the lawn of Kauai Community College. Here, we helped with cleaning around the Gala area so that the guests were always given a clean place to eat. We picked up plates and brought them to the kitchen. Seeing the guests’ expressions and greeting them with smiling faces was worth all of the hard work. Sheryl Ann Tomas Member, Kaua’i High Key Club
