Introduction Hey Key Clubbers! Now that it’s finally sunny, how do you feel? Let’s cheer because we only have four more weeks of school until it’s over! Make sure you study for all of your final exams and don’t forget to make your hours! Thank you all so much for a wonderful time at the events in April. There are many memories that were made and I can’t wait for many more! Us officers are so proud of all your hard work. During this chaotic time, let’s “bee” positive and “buzz” through the stressful days. Thank your Seniors for their guidance and have an amazing last month of school. Stay golden Key Clubbers! ~ Noelle Oyama Newsletter Editor

President’s Message “Hey Krysten Cassandra Padasdao, how do you feel?!!!” I feel good!... and I am bee-yond thankful and happy to announce that I will be serving as the 2018-2019 President for Kauai High Key Club. Hello Key Clubbers! Words can’t explain how appreciative I am that many of you Key Clubbers believe in my capabilities to run this amazing club. I promise to continue to carry on the amazing legacy that has continued on from the very beginning of our home club; especially Deven Kimoto who has made a great impact and been a role model on the way we should perform our duties as either officers or members. With his tremendous work for the 2017-2018 Key Club term, he has shown me such great devotion and motivation for the club that it all the more inspired me to run as you next President. With DCON that ended on April 16, our journey as a whole club has started as we take on any event or service project that comes our way with the newly elected 2018-2019 Key Club officers whom I am very excited to serve with. Although school is slowly coming to an end, our ambition of serving the community doesn’t! There are many summer events coming up such as Bon Dance, Kauai Hospice Concert In The Sky, Koloa Plantation Day Parade, Kauai High Registration Day as well as the Mokihana Swim Meet. These events are tremendous ways to build your hours so that you all can achieve your goal of being recognized on the Member Recognition Program as a bronze, silver, gold or platinum member! Congratulations to all our seniors as they soon will graduate and I can’t thank them enough as they spent their last high school year and being part of this club and I wish them all the best as they go on to wherever they go next. I hope you all had a great experience of this key club term whether this is your first year joining or last year and I can’t wait to work with you all as we take on this next term and make the most memories and service hours that we can! Also, I feel good! Oh, I feel so good! I feel fine all of the time!

Kalaheo STEM Night

On the evening of April 13, the Kauai High Key Club visited Kalaheo Elementary School to volunteer for their second annual STEM night in the cafeteria. The STEM night features several fun, child-friendly stations that exposed the children to various fields in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The activities at these stations were engaging and effectively allowed the children to expand their knowledge through an immersive, hands-on experience. STEM stations included Stop-Motion Animation, Rocket Building, Virtual Reality, Anatomy Puzzles, and more. Key Clubbers ran the stations by assisting the children in maneuvering the electrical equipment and by explaining the significance each station played in terms of the lucrative job fields of science and engineering. Children of many ages and from many schools thoroughly enjoyed STEM night, with some being so mesmerized with one particular station that they stayed at it for a prolonged amount of time. All in all, the turnout was successful, with 400 parents and students in attendance. It is through volunteer organizations like Key Club that help communities develop tremendously in the long run. -

Spring Food Food Bank Bank On Saturday, April 14th, 2018, Kauai High Key Clubbers participated in the Kauai Independent Food Bank’s Spring Healthy Food and Fun Drive. Key Clubbers greeted members of the community in various locations at the Kukui Grove Shopping Center. We spent a couple of hours collecting donations for the Food Bank using fishnets and holding up signs. Overall, it was a great event that allowed us to bond with our fellow members and advisors while providing service to an important organization on Kauai. The Kauai Independent Food Bank’s efforts in ending hunger and helping with the flood relief is outstanding. I am grateful to have had this opportunity on Saturday to give back to the organization that does so much for our community. -
