Make a Difference Day was an event where people of all ages volunteered to help around Lydgate Beach Park. It was held to make a difference that day. Key Clubbers picked up trash by the beach, at Kamalani Playground and the area around it. Also, Key clubbers were picking up trash as they were walking from Kamalani Playground to Kamalani Kai Bridge. We reached Kamalani Kai Bridge where we helped repaint it for the ceremony of renaming the bridge. The new Bynum Bridge was named after a man who was very generous to people all around him and very helpful around the island. My experience doing this event was very eyeopening because it made me realize how much trash is all over our walkways. Almost every time I would walk a few steps, I would see trash right on the ground or slightly buried under the dirt. So now that I’ve seen how bad the amount of trash is around, I will do my best to pick up as much trash as I can and tell others to do so too. -Kalyssa Tanihiro

Make A Difference Day

The MAO training was a nice opportunity to bond, learn, and laugh with other members of Key Club. Starting off, we ate some fresh, sour lemons as a fun challenge to raise awareness of the Eliminate Project. Not everyone was too eager to eat them, however, some stopping after just one and others eating beyond. Their reactions on their faces were hysterical! After everyone finished up their lemons, we were ready to learn more about Key Club as a whole, as well as the club's history, dating back to Sacramento, California, 1925, where this loved organization we know today was born. We also learned about Hawaii’s divisions, our Lieutenant Governor (Kara Yoshiyama), and HCON. Following our quick learning session, it was time to eat. Foods ranging from sushi to pork and peas, the variety was appetizing. While we ate, we watched Boo! A Madea Halloween, hilarious movie. I think it's safe to say everyone that went had a good time there. I know I did!! Really looking forward to attend more club bonding events like these. -Leland Kai Villanueva

KING K KEY KIDS Key Club offers a lot of events so we can make hours but still having fun and helping out the community. One of the events we participate is the King Kaumuali’i Key Kids events; in these events Key Clubbers do things like helping out the little ones with their homework, to having a special bond that will last for a lifetime. While doing this event we do things like helping them with basic math skills, reading them a fun book, them talking about their day, and just having a blast. In conclusion, this event can be really fun because we get to bond with the younger generation in a way where we’re helping out and their having a blast. -Javis Agreda SUNDAY WILCOX REHABILITATION BINGO Do you enjoy spending time with elders? Do you enjoy playing bingo? If so, you’d enjoy spending your Sundays with the lovely elders of Wilcox Hospital. There, you can play bingo and get to know the elders. I’ve been spending most of my Sundays with them. It’s really great and I absolutely enjoy this event, because it helps me interact with people my age or younger. -Darian Martin
