INTRODUCTION
VP’S MESSAGE ‘TIS THE SEASON TO BE
KEY CLUBBERS!
This is your VP of Membership, Deven Kimoto, and I just want to congratulate you all for making it through 5 months both into the 2016-2017 school year and with Key Club. Keep up the hard work! December events should be filled with joy with the Lights on Rice Parade, Festival of Lights, Bell Ringing, and much more! Please don’t forget that the minimum hours for December is 6, so be sure to sign up for these events and show your Christmas spirit to the community. As 2016 comes to an end, take a moment to look back at all the memories you made this year— whether meeting new friends in Key Club, being more involved with others, and even starting or ending your high school years for some. For everyone, I’m sure it has been a great year. Happy Holidays and we’ll see you all in 2017!

NOVEMBER RECAP
P A S T EVENTS
DCM (November) November 11, 2016
This November DCM was hosted by the Key Clubbers at Kapa’a High School. In this DCM, we created Thanksgiving-themed thank-you cards to send out to other Key Clubs and important advisors throughout Region 18. These included Key Clubs from other islands such as Punahou, Kaiser, Waiakea, Baldwin, and much more. It was a great project because everyone got to be creative and show their skills in making these cards. So many awesome cards were produced and I hope those that received the cards will enjoy them! On top of that, we attempted a Mannequin Challenge that took three tries to get right (HAHA). But overall, this has been another great DCM and I look forward to future ones with creative service projects like these!

Kiwanis Car Wash November 12, 2016
The Kiwanis Car Wash was held at the Kukui Grove parking lot on Saturday, November 12. It was a day full of fun in the sun while washing cars and creating many memories. From 8:45 A.M. to 2:15 P.M., Kaua’i and Kapa’a High Key Clubbers washed and dried cars for donations that went to our sponsoring Kiwanis Club of Kaua’i. When it came to washing and drying each car, each person was assigned a certain section of the car so that no dirt or water spots were left behind. As this is my first year in Key Club, the Kiwanis Car Wash was a great opportunity for me to bond and become friends with other members and officers. Although it was a long and hot day for everyone, we all still managed to put smiles on our faces and share the positive spirit that Key Club has to offer!

Thanksgiving Banner Creation November 10-17, 2016
The annual Thanksgiving banner was completed once again with great success! Throughout November, Key Clubbers spent one hour after school on various days to create a backdrop to be displayed at the Salvation Army Thanksgiving Luncheon. The lettering was designed by Jenna Takata, whereas other Key Clubbers drew and painted the different graphics around it to symbolize Thanksgiving. Coming up with the design was not hard, and painting the banner was both fun and worthwhile. However, nothing would have been possible without the creative ideas from every Key Clubber involved. Overall, this experience was a great way to show our appreciation to the community while creating an elegant and festive banner for all to see.

Luncheon Set-Up November 22, 2016
The Salvation Army Thanksgiving Luncheon was held at the Convention Hall on Wednesday, November 23. This event was held as a way to provide Thanksgiving meals to people within our community. It especially helped people who didn't have family, company, or money to buy food. On the day before the luncheon, Key Clubbers finished decorating the area since all the chairs and tables were already set up. Some things that we Key Clubbers did were: taping table covers, putting decorations on the tables, and hanging a Thanksgiving poster up. It was a great opportunity to set up a large event for the community.
