LETTER FROM YOUR NEWS EDITOR Hey Suns! Hope school has been treating you well so far! For the seniors out there, hope college apps are going well, as well. Even though school may be tough, I hope that you will find little bits of free time to do some volunteering and help out the community! Your help does a lot and goes very far! Hope you all are excited as the most anticipated event of the term is coming by fast! That is, FALL RALLY SOUTH! I know I am excited. Hope you guys are making your tutus, planning out your spirit sticks, stacking up on division merch, and more to prepare for Fall Rally South. Just a reminder that we have two more spirit nights coming up, so make sure to come out so that you are fully prepared for the spirit session at Fall Rally! Look out for dates at the end of this newsletter! While Fall Rally South may be fun with the rides and heated spirit sessions, let’s not forget the core reason why we are going to Fall Rally, which is celebrating how much we have raised for the Pediatric Trauma Program. By collectively fundraising tons of money to help a cause, you guys are truly making an impact and making a difference in the world. Keep striving to make change, world changers! Shining with service,
Kayla Kim
LETTER FROM YOUR LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR What’s Poppin Division 30 South? Can you all BEE-lieve then we ONLY have 4 months left in this term? That’s only 120 days to make as much of an impact on our community as possible! Time is truly ticking and sooner than later, District Convention will be knocking on your door! That is truly sad to process, but it is an evident reminder that we need to do more for those counting on us and we truly need to make more of the time we have left together; that means attending as much service events as you can, helping out with your club’s fundraisers, and attending the Division Events that we will be hosting! Enough of the sad talk and let's talk about FALL RALLY SOUTH that is taking place on Saturday, November 9th! I hope your FRS preparation has been better than mine because you all should be planning those FIRE YELLOW-OUT FITS and creating your SHINING SPIRIT STICKS (no social media plug or free hug signs :D)! I am seriously BEE-yond excited to spend my LAST Fall Rally with every single one of you to celebrate all of the money we have raised for the Pediatric Trauma Program and hopefully win the SPIRIT STICK! For those of you not going to Fall Rally, have NO FEAR because you still have so much to look forward to, including Candidate Training Conference, Rose Float Parade, Servathon, and the last 4 DCMs! The Division Leadership Team and I have so much in store for you and we cannot wait to make most out of what is left of the 2019-2020 term! Sending you all a WARm hug wherever you are!

november's theme KIWANIS FAMILY The Spotlight on Service Program this month will be focusing on the Kiwanis Family. It is important to keep in mind the Ohana that we serve alongside. This guide will help you plan your November and find ways to stay connected to the Kiwanis Family.
PROJECT IDEA Kiwanis Thank You Dinner & Appreciation Cards Plan a Thanksgiving-style dinner for your Kiwanis Family this season! Plan the event with each branch of the KFamily. Together, you can find food sponsors and prepare food. Have each of the branches take responsibility to decorate, serve food, and set up materials. Be sure to invite members from all of the branches to the dinner. This is a great way to show support and recognize how much you value all of the members from all branches of the K-Family. Also, make “Thank You cards to show and express how much you appreciate them!

PAINT AND PICNIC Maya Alvarez-Harmon | Whitney High School Paint and Picnic was an event in which all Key Clubbers had the opportunity to attend and all volunteers were responsible for painting flower pots. This was a really fun activity as many people from all over our division were able to come together and have fun with each other. We started the event by having a little icebreaker called soulmate which is when somebody stands in front of the crowd, and based off of their interests, someone from the crowd would be deemed their “soulmate”. This icebreaker was led by one of our very own, Elu Loquias, and it was absolutely amazing because it brought everyone closer together.
After all attendees became more acquainted with one another, we then went to the painting table to pick out the colors that we wanted for our flower pots. Everyone receive a miniature plastic flower pot and we were responsible for painting them so that they could then be taken to the nursing home. Many people painted items such as flowers, galaxies, and even landscapes. It was a really fun activity that allowed everyone to be creative in their own unique ways. I chose to paint my whole flower pot white and then I lettered the word “hello” on my part. I then added yellow and pink flowers to my flower pot. It was a really fun activity because I got to meet a lot of new people and realize the artistic ability that others have. This event was unlike any other service event that we have had, because this event served more as a bonding. Everyone was able to get to know each other and at the same time we were able to complete community service. It was really fun, especially in the midst of a new school year when everybody is stressed because simply painting these flowerpots in the presence of your friends is very relaxing.
The flower pots ended up being really pretty and I am sure that the nursing home residents loved and appreciated the flower pots they received. The idea of the elderly being excited to receive an item that we Key clubbers made, made the entire event even more amazing.
september dcm: color fest Kyarra Ausan | Savanna High School On September 28th as the sunlit clouds drifted across the clear blue sky, the key-uties participated in what they call the “Color War” similar to that of the May DCM where participants would use a colored powder/ flour to be thrown at each other. In addition, there is an option for members who would rather do community service to earn their hours. Members learn how to create tote bags through using donated old shirts from the participants. Thus, Key Club members had been very active as they compete and socialize with one another. It’s been an honor for Savanna High School to be called once again for one of our bulletin editors, Nathalie Moreno, had received an award highlighting her achievement of her dedication in this club. Furthermore, new members from Savanna High School had decided to participate in the event and did not regret their experience so far. As one of the recent members Markus Thomas, acknowledge how Key Club has interesting events that one could ever thought. Despite confusion regarding how the system works, he is determined to try out what Key Club has to offer. Not only an individual get to earn their hours, they can also create longlasting friendships from those who are in different schools. Others were able to reconnect with their previous buddies and reminiscing about the old times. In this way, students can bond with those who are from different schools and possibly share ideas with them.
