JFKHS x MHS Recycle Drive By Jocelynn Nguyen | Magnolia Key Club
During the week of October 4-10, Magnolia Key Club teamed up with Kennedy Key Club to hold a Recycle Drive for the Pediatric Program. I had never really done anything like this so I was excited. The funds from the recyclables would be going towards the Pediatric Trauma Program to help prevent deaths from unintentional injuries. Our publicists also teamed up and made informational graphics about PTP. The information included how unintentional injury is the #1 killer of children ages 14 and under in America, how 8,000 families lose a child from preventative injury each year in the U.S and how 90% of those injuries could’ve been prevented with enough resources. The posters also included what the PTP donations would be for such as grants to partner hospitals, Kiwanis Clubs and for PTP safety items. When the week was over, we had members submit their items which would be collected at a later time.
Memory Towards Miracles By Thien Transqu | Kennedy Key Club
Right before Halloween, Abigail Kim and I created a service project which focused on the magical goodness that will occur during the nights of Halloween. The theme of this service project was mythical and focused on the magic people can illuminate if they represent their club spirit. Memory towards Miracles week began on October 18th and ended right before Halloween. Activities that took place were UWU Fairy Dust, Elixir of Life, Twisting Hats of Paper, Scroll Full of Spells, Luminescence of the Shining Sun, Wishing upon a Star, and Poof, It’s the Main Character. The magical theme attracted many suns to participate in this service week. In total of 24 members joined in on this magical adventure towards granting miracles and happiness towards others. The process of creating this service week started from thinking about the Tooth Fairy and how when children lose a tooth, the excitement of getting a little gift from a little visitor created excitement for them. This idea led us towards creating a mythology based service week to allow our Suns to relive their childhoods once again.
Regional Training Conference By Keristy Huynh | Katella Key Club I attended the Region 3 Training Conference on Saturday, October 17th and the theme was based on a television show called “Teletubbies. The training conference started from 10 am to 1:50 pm and everything was on Zoom. It was super organized because all of the workshops were listed with their descriptions under one document page which made it easy for everyone to access the Zoom meeting links. I gained a lot of insights in the workshops from learning how to work on my time management to improving my public speaking ability. I also learned about the scholarship opportunities that Key Clubs offer which is a bonus
because I’m applying to colleges this year. Although it was a virtual Region Conference, everyone was super cheerful and I could feel the spirit through my computer! After the long day, we ended the meeting with the Region Advisors and Lieutenant Governors sharing their appreciation for everyone who attended the meeting. We also took pictures at the end and many of us set the Teletubbies themed background. Then, we moved into separate division meetings in which our D30S meeting was led by Jennifer Vo. This was my first time attending a Region Training Conference and I had a great experience! I am excited about future events and opportunities where I get to meet new friends while also learning new skills!
Katella x Loara October Social By Jasmine Leon | Katella Key Club In the month of October, Key Club held a social with Loara. In this event, we played games like among us and mafia with one another. We also had the opportunity to earn hours as we took part in service projects where we played Beanbeanbean and Freerice. We began by being out into a breakout room and playing a game of among us. I was one of the first to be killed in the game, but it was still fun as I watched the others struggle ot figure out who the imposter was. Due to the time, we were only able to play one round but it was still very enjoyable. Following the round of among us was Freerice where we answered questions in order to help provide food for people. After this service project, we played mafia. It was difficult to understand but we did get through it. It did not last forever as we continued on to play Beanbeanbean, online quizzes that help fight against hunger. The last activity we did was a round of Skribbl. This game was the most fun in my opinion, and did well as the last activity of the event. I felt that this social was very enjoyable as we were able to play games while also earning hours. Skribbl was my favorite out of all the games as the members in the breakout room displayed more communication with one another than in past games. It was fun to be able to find a way to get to know one another even with Covid-19 as a border. Overall, the social was a wonderful experience that leaves you waiting for the next one!
Clovis North x Oxford Academy Interclub Social By Kenneth Nguyen | Oxford Key Club My overall experience at the Clovis North X Oxford Academy Social was that it was very fun. Many officers in both Oxford Academy and Clovis North Key Club Board worked really hard in order to create activities. They put in a lot of work to make creative activities as well as a service project. If you missed it, make sure to attend our next socials because they are really fun to attend! At the social, we first started with a Kahoot hosted by our vice president Kenny Le. The Kahoot activity was pretty fun because we were able to be quizzed on the knowledge we have about Key Club International, as well as finishing song lyrics and guessing who the officer was based on a part of an image. It was really fun,
October DCM By Ashanti Bracamontes | Savanna Key Club Throughout the spooky month of October, our key-clubbers worked hard serving their community and learning all about their beloved club! In this month’s DCM, our D30S clubs participated in R3 training as well as attending DCM. They went to various workshops to not only learn about key club itself but also improve their skills as members. Our members had a variety of different workshops to attend such as “Time Management” and “District Leadership” where they learned about many different useful skills. All of these workshops involved different members from all over key club and allowed our LTG to present these workshops. Not only did we learn how to have self-growth and become better leaders, but our key-uties also had the wonderful opportunity to interact with other key club members from all regions. This was amazing seeing as our members were creating connections and friendships while learning how to make their club and work, as a member, outstanding! After participating in training, our members attended the October DCM where we saw who our Shining members and clubs of the month were! Apart from this, we were informed of many updates and events coming up such as bake sales and D30S gear. We hope to see our key-uties utilizing their new earned skills in a positive and impactful way and we also hope they keep in touch with all their new friends!

Member Recognition Program By Emily Thang | Whitney Key Club It’s no secret that Key Club is the oldest and largest service club for high school students across the globe, actively cultivating the next generation of passionate, motivated leaders who want to change the world. With so many leadership opportunities and fun activities to participate in, anyone can easily get involved, make unforgettable memories, and unlock countless doors to success through Key Club—and the best part: YOU can get recognized for your accomplishments! Known as the Member Recognition Program (MRP), this annual initiative recognizes dues-paid members who have met and exceeded the expectations of Key Club International. There are four different levels of recognition—Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum—each with specific criteria that must be fulfilled in order to attain a status of recognition. See previous page for the 2020-2021 Member Recognition Program Rubric, which shows the corresponding requirements for each level. So, why exactly should you consider aiming for one of these levels? Well, at the end of the 2020-2021 term, members who meet the Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum levels will be recognized at District Convention (DCON) and Division Banquet—a huge honor! Certificates will be awarded to those who meet the Bronze, Silver, or Gold levels, while a medal and certificate will be awarded to those who have attained Platinum status. Plus, unlike other contests, you will not have to submit anything at all in order to qualify for the MRP; I will be keeping track of all members’ attendance and progress throughout the year, so there’s no work on your part whatsoever. However, if you would like to keep a personal record of your own attendance and progress just in case, I encourage you to do so. Earning Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum level of recognition is definitely a hefty feat, so take initiative and make the effort to attend as many events as possible to make the most out of your Key Club journey, not to mention all the memories and growth you will experience! This year, the Member Recognition Program runs from April 19th, 2020 to February 10th, 2021, but do keep in mind that recognition submissions will be due earlier than this. Remember to always be on the lookout for future club, division, district, and even international events, which can help contribute towards meeting the requirements for the MRP, as well as enhance your Key Club experience. Try to remain active throughout the year, and most importantly, participate in our service projects and fundraisers—every hour and cent counts! For more information on the Member Recognition Program, feel free to check out this very informative guide, created by the CNH District Member Recognition Committee. Otherwise, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me and I will be more than happy to help! Let’s get that Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum recognition, Whitney Key Club!
