Colorful Canvas ou have to love Betty Kunz in this photo shoot! The flowers and atmosphere create shoot! The flowers and atmosphere create a perfect blend of vibrance and beauty. Betty began her fabulous journey first in theatre and performance which segued her into the modeling industry. She was first discovered on the runway which led to editorials shot by various photographers. Having worked with many world-renowned instructors here in the US encouraged her to travel to Japan for this amazing shoot. To best describe what interest Betty the most about fashion was summed up in her own words, “I love the dramatic range- from intense and brooding, to the subtle, almost ingenuous or innocuous nuances represented in the inspirations of the many individuals that comprise the essence of the shoot”. “Each artist brings their own slice to the inspiration board, from the designer to the MUAs, and every contribution comes together to form our finished art”. “I love being able to capture the character and bring it forward for the final representation”. “It’s theatre in still”. “It is static art, in the most dynamic sense”.

shoot, their work will appear to be dull and without vibrance. This is very evident in this photo shoot as well as most of her high fashion shoots. All this comes from an artist that in her spare time just loves working out, tight-handling sports cars, traveling, driven bass music, and embarking on the adventures of life with her husband Eric! Also a published playwright and an advocate for chiropractic studies, she tries to find balance between in-
terests in the arts and sciences. At the close of the interview we asked Betty, “what advice do you have for others aspiring to enter your field”? Her response; “Be professional, don’t do the generic ‘swim wear / beach / boudoir’ thing unless you want to blend in with everyone else. Not everyone can or should be a fit for every inspiration. Find your creative niche and excel in what you do best”. We’ll let you decide!

Danielle Bateman From Sports Model to the Runway The Day” gift card from her mother which now gave her the golden opportunity to see if this “passion” of hers was what she really wanted to pursue. In the following year, March of 2012 Danielle was now scheduled for her first fashion photoshoot. She recalls how nervous and excited she was while the hairdresser, makeup artist and stylist prepared her for the shoot. During the photoshoot preparation Danielle became totally convinced that this was right for her. During the actual photoshoot she began to almost immediately feel comfortable with the photographers direction and listened to his every suggestion on how to pose. Although most of the shoot went well, she learned that In 2011 Danielle received a “Model For the “larger the heel” the “larger the
anielle Bateman has been living her dream ever since her first modeling experience. Originally from England, Danielle moved to the United States at the age of 9. By age 11 she had developed a passion for fashion and began studying various fashion and runway shows in order to gain more knowledge of the industry. While a teenager still in in high school she found it very difficult due to having low self esteem to develop the confidence to actually pursue her passion. She felt as if she wasn’t good enough or pretty enough to be a model. Through a gift of love from her mother, Danielle would finally receive the opportunity needed to “MAKE IT HAPPEN”!

Transforming Ordinary Into Extraordinary Q&A with Linda Lola, Fashion Stylist Extraordinaire Q. When and why did you get started?
sure?
A. I have always loved fashion since a very young age. In 2010 it was time to make it official! Since then I have been involved with various fashion projects including the branding of my own Handbag line. The rewards are beyond what I have expected, what started as a hobby slowly grew into an amazingly fun job!
A. Yes!
Q. What interest you most about Fashion & Beauty? A. Fashion gives us a better version of how we really want to look and also transforms ordinary into extraordinary sometimes even beyond what we have imagined.
Q. What do you think of catwalk fashion? A. It is an inspiration, the way it is put together it’s so amazing because it’s there to inspire you with your own style, not necessarily to duplicate it perfectly but with imagination. Q. How does your skills as a stylist contribute to a Fashion show?
A. Some may not believe me when I tell them I’m self taught but it’s true!
A. My styling vision and expertise when added to any show increases the value of a brand especially when introduced for the first time to fashion buyers and general public. I introduce the story behind the brand in the best way possible without having to speak!

A. There are so many locals here in Australia and around the world, but just to name a few would be * Charbel zoe, ( Lebanese designer) His designs are out of this world, * Valentino ( who doesn’t) Q. What are some cities you think provide a good clothing shopping experiences? A. Melbourne Australia, and Istanbul Turkey Q.Who are some of your favorite models? A. My all time favourite, Hands down Cindy Crawford. Q. What distinguishes a good model from a bad one? A. For working with me; a good model is the one who takes directions and slips into the desired character for the shoot. Q. Describe the atmosphere when you’re on a good photo shoot. Do you play music? A. If it is indoors, Yes of course! Music is a must! I think a photo shoot without music is like singing without music. Q. What advice do you have for others aspiring to enter your field? A. The Fashion industry is known for its “cut throat” behaviour! There is so much competition within this industry so you have to love it! Believe in yourself then you will achieve it, never mind what others say about you and your work; otherwise you won’t survive it. Q. What projects have you recently completed? A. My favorite one of all! I just designed my new line of handbags ( Linda Lola The bags ) Launching really soon. We look forward to seeing more work from Linda Lola, Transforming Ordinary Into Extraordinary! You can view her work at: www.facebook.com/LINDA.STYLIST1

“The Statement Necklace After years of long boho chains necklaces are moving back up to the collarbone. Style mavens like Michelle Obama have been rocking the statement-making look for years, but now the jewelry trend is becoming more and more prevalent. Bib necklaces, layered necklaces, and unique metalwork have added an extra flair to basic red carpet dresses. Statement necklaces are wearable art. They are the conversation starter, the show stopper, the jaw dropper. Statement necklaces can be geometric collars, earthy baubles, or sparkly bib design. Big, bold shapes are key, and bright, attention-grabbing colors with lots of detail are the season’s must- have pieces. The statement necklace can be worn over a matching high neckline, or a lower well shaped one, and the trick for wearing larger pieces is finding necklaces that are lighter in weight. Please enjoy the one-of-a-kind statement necklaces from designer Joe Vilaiwan of Vilaiwan Fine Jewelry. His hand-crafted statement necklaces are made from quality stones, shells, and other authentic materials. Combining the jewelry with fashion forward looks from current brands completes the look.

My Visual Piggyback Ride
W
hile visiting Folly Beach, South Carolina in April of 2013, Graycen Hensley stumbled upon a photo shoot that would change her life forever. Graycen was at the beach that day recuperating from a knee surgery. Graycen’s father carried her “piggyback” style abandoning her crutches, down the beach, over a mile to watch a model shoot. While there, a few photographers invited Graycen to pose “just for fun” and that was it, she was hooked on modeling! The experience lifted her spirits and showed her a way to express herself through an art form that she had never considered before. Since then she has appeared in over a dozen issues of Surreal Beauty magazine, including a cover and 2 features issues. Graycen also walked in a charity runway show for the Aveda Institute, Catwalk for Water in April of 2014. Her training includes runway and posing by Leon Davis and Janet Barry through the Model Mission program in Charlotte, North Carolina. What interest you most about Fashion & Beauty?

I want to use my eyes and expression to communicate my feelings in hopes that I would touch the heart of every type of woman. Regardless of frame or flaw, I would like to use my abilities in fashion and commercial photography to reveal the extraordinary features within ordinary women through soft, simple and genuine gestures. I was discovered in this industry in my darkest moment, full of scarring and flaws, and somehow those first photographers on the beach saw through it all. It was through their photos, I found confidence and my self esteem. I need to share this with other women, and give them a visual piggy back ride to find their self esteem. What’s the one element that you would like mentioned the most about you in this article? I would like the focus to be on my progression
from a girl on crutches to a trained and published model in just over a year without agency representation. What advice do you have for others aspiring to enter your field? What do you feel distinguishes a good model from a bad one? Work hard, network with people you admire and trust, diligence and patience are a must, do A good model is a prepared student, ready for anything, your research on photographers and agencies. adaptable, a bit of a risk taker, and recognizes she is an Graycen Hensley definitely has the right attiequal part of a creative team. She has to bring her ideas and personality to collaborate with her team to produce the highest quality image. A bad one shows up late, unaware of the customer or project, recycling the same poses for every shoot regardless of theme. How would your skills contribute to a Fashion show? I am the new Kate Moss. I am 5’ 6” with long legs that deceive my actual height for the runway, but I project confidence that struts taller than my colleagues. I can make that average woman notice me and see the extraordinary style and flair available to her with the proper fashion and posture without the intimidation of excessive height. I project an attainable fashion goal while wearing the creations of high end designers. What do you think of catwalk fashion? It is relevant to me in the sense that it establishes the upper limits of creativity on a common color and trend palate. It inspires creativity at the retail level to be aware of current runway fashion, and promotes individuality when composing mainstream fashion.

By: Model - Lexi Hart 20 Fashionable TIPS for the New Modern Woman 1. When wearing a red lip, go in and clean up any stray marks with concealer and a brush for a perfect outline. Details matter with red lips!
dation a flawless finish – you’re welcome. 4. A great heel will give you added confidence in any setting. Remember that the next time you’re wondering about outfit choices.
2. Find a television show that inspires you and don’t be ashamed to binge on it! The thing about being a modern woman is that you’re likely very busy. An alternate reality for an hour a week is a great way to find time to relax.
5. White is always acceptable to wear. Always.
3. Stop applying your foundation with your fingers or a brush. Get a specialty sponge to apply it; there are plenty on the market, pick one. Make sure you saturate it with water and squeeze out all excess liquid before you use it. It will give your foun-
6. So is black. You can never go wrong with black. 7. Your nails are an area of self-expression that you can have fun with! Don’t be afraid to get creative with them. Glitter, studs, color; Choose something that fits your style and try it. It’s much less permanent than blue hair or bangs.
8. Green tea is an excellent way to boost your metabolism and health. Plus, if you’re a coffee addict like me, it’s a great way to get the caffeine without having to drink the extra fat of the milk. 9. A basic white button up polo shirt is something every woman should have in her closet. It’s wearable anywhere at anytime and it will never fail to make you feel sexy. 10. Eye contact, eye contact, eye contact! If you need someone to take you seriously or you want to command the attention in a conversation, always maintain eye contact. 11. Diets suck. Don’t be afraid to treat yourself every once in a while. And if you’re not a fan of diets, don’t do it. Find some sort of healthy exercise you can do so you can keep eating ice cream (guilty!). 12. A great pair of jeans is a must! Try bell-bottoms – they’re a hot trend this season (and a favorite of mine). 13. If there’s any makeup product you should splurge on, it’s foundation. Don’t be afraid to pay more for a foundation that has healthier components and a better finish. I’ve tried every single drugstore foundation and none of them compare to higher quality brands. Promise. 14. Don’t pay a lot of money for mascara. Drug store brands perform much better than expensive brands. Trust me. 15. Drink water!!!
16. Always stay calm. Life is hard and stressful, but the calmer you are, the better everything will be. Remember that the next time you feel like you can’t handle the stress. You’ll get through it, you always have in the past, and this is no different. 17. Red lips are great, but personally I think berry lips are easier to get away with – and more modern. A great red lip color really depends on your skin tone, and sometimes is hard to find a red that’s not too orange or too blue. Berries are much easier to work with and they’re almost always complementary of any skin tone. 18. Comfort is the most important. Always wear clothes, shoes, and makeup that you feel confident in. Trends are great, but if you don’t feel beautiful, you won’t look your best. It’s a rule of the universe. 19. If you’re late and only have five minutes, swipe on some mascara and lipstick and run. These two things will make you appear awake and ready for the day – no matter how late you woke up. 20. People won’t remember what you were wearing or how you looked if you didn’t treat them with kindness and sincerity. Make every person you come in contact with feel special in some way. Katherine Kelly Lang - Kaftans Celebrity Actress & Entrepreneur She is bold, She is beautiful, Katherine Kelly Lang is the new name in the fashion world to look out for, After continued success on the daytime TV Hit show; (The Bold and The Beautiful), The Emmy winner and mom of 4 can now add Fashion Designer to her impressive resume.
10 Questions we all want to ask Katherine Kelley Lang
S
o I had a chat to the star to find out what’s behind her new Title;
1 - First of all, a massive Congratulations on your continued success as Brooke on (The Bold and the beautiful), and off course on wining the emmy.
Oh yes, Thank you I am so excited the Emmy man is finally here and standing right in the room looking shiny and amazing.
2 -Tell me about KKL Kaftans why did you create the brand? Well Kaftans are beautiful, fun and most importantly very comfortable, I am a fun person and love to travel so creating them was just a no brainer for me, because I want every woman, who is wearing them, to feel as if she is on holiday every day.
3 - Did you grow up in a fashionable family? Yes, I did! My mother owned a boutique and thus loved fashion along with anything else related to fashion. My grandmother was also a seamstress so I grew up surrounded by these amazing stylish women.
4 - Do you design them yourself or do you have help?
My friend and business partner (Toni Moon) is from Sydney Australia, she helps out with designing, we discuss lots of ideas together, we design 5 - 8 designs only of each style , so once they are all gone, there will be no reproducing them again.

5 - What inspired you to Create KKL Kaftans? I come from a fashion background, My grandmother was a seamstress and my mother owned a few fashion boutiques, I used to work for her in my teen years. She taught me a lot a bout fashion and I’m glad and thankful that I learned a lot from her. 6 - Who would you most like to see wearing your Kaftans, Any Movie stars? No! not really I haven’t really thought about it to tell you the truth, Because when I created them I didn’t think about that, All I thought about was that every woman out there who’s going to wear them would feel beautiful, amazing and comfortable. I am happy just seeing them on everyday women walking down the street, I get excited when they send me their pics on social media wearing my Kaftans on their holidays, that feels fantastic and amazing. 7 - I will have to ask you this, did your Role as Brooke have any influence on creating KKL Kaftans, Did it inspire you in any way? No, not at all, because Brooke was never the designer she is a CEO and creative director something like that, yes she is involved in forester creations and stood by Ridge Forrester the designer but that never influenced me. 8 - So what’s next? What’s your vision for the future of your brand? Are there any plans for designing other things? Yes, I shouldn’t be saying this haha... But yes I have plans to design other modern fashion items, Like pencil skirts and beautiful pants, So yes it is still in the works. 9 - What’s your style philosophy? My style philosophy, is being comfortable in what I’m wearing while keeping it really stylish, I love color but I also love my blacks by wearing a really nice flashy item of jewelry, a necklace or really nice shoes, to bring out the color, Love wearing jeans, love the whole bohemian style too. 10 - Beside the online store; where can people go and purchase your Kaftans, do you stock them in any boutiques? At this point in time it’s only an online store and the shopping channel which is taking off. It’s very time consuming so I have no plans to stock stock them in any boutique nor open one, but you never know anything could change in time. “Going Green” & Elegant
Mary C Bliss ary Bliss’s modeling career has always been on a bit of a fast-track. At the age of 8 her mother enrolled her in Wendy Wardes Modeling School in Westland, Michigan where she received formal modeling training. Being trained early in life and loving the art and beauty of the fashion industry has kept Mary going strong down to this day! If you work with this brilliant model you’ll probably want to leave your “modeling 101” book at home. She tends to not follow any fashion rules but instead chooses to be a trendsetter versus following fashion. She is very fashion forward and has many different looks. She can pull off just about every look including, the “girly look”, “edgy” and recently has become very interested in the “modern vintage” look and style.
M
Probably the most significant start of her
career was when she was spotted by a photographer who remarked to her mother that she was “extremely photogenic” and needed to get signed by a major modeling agency. In 2005 she met with a certain photographer who suggested that she become an extra for the film “Inzero”. After meeting with the film director of the film she was quickly upgraded to a feature role and began shooting print work thereafter as a result of this connection. Mary has been involved as a print/runway/hair/ special effects/makeup model and actress in several local award winning projects in the state of Michigan. Today she continues to build her modeling and acting portfolio with the help of manager, Amy Keely and her Husband, George Seder/Actor/Publicist. When asked, “what was one element that she would like mentioned the most about her in this article her response was; “I am very strong and continue to push into the fashion industry because, while I know I have unique look, I am versatile. I was recently told that I have a look similar to Tilda Swinton and it changed my life. It has been a challenge to find photographers that can showcase my look but I am very proud of the work of the team around me on this shoot. I love my look and the dress I’m wearing”!

The Classy “Girl Next Door” Jordyn Sosa
attling bugs, rain and underbrush didn’t stop Jordyn Sosa from model ing this stunning Studio Y evening gown on the beautiful grounds of the; Ruth Funk Botanical Gardens at the Florida Institute of Technology. Jordyn was discovered at her “Sweet 16” Party by Photographer Cherie Sanabia, it only took one look to see that Jordyn had a natural look for modeling. When considering who to choose for this Studio Y evening gown shoot, it was a “no brainer”. Jordyn was the first choice when choosing a model for this shoot and she handled herself like a pro through all of the hurdles of the day. During the shoot, Jordyn let me know she has aspirations to be on America’s Next Top Model, adores Tyra Banks and would love
B
to eventually replace her as the host. Jordyn comes from a military family and is the oldest of five children. She was born in Florida and raised in a military family which required her to move around a bit before returning back to her home state. Jordyn is currently one of only 4 main flyers on her 19 member varsity cheerleading team. “Being the oldest of five children can be hard but there is definitely never a dull moment. It means that I am usually in charge when the parents are gone and have to keep the others in line. We are a really close I am lucky to have the love and support of my family… even my brothers and sisters (but don’t tell them I said that!).” A dancer since the age of 7, Jordyn is comfortable expressing herself through body

language and loves to use that discipline in her modeling. When I asked her to “dance” in the forest, it was easy for her. Horses are her favorite animal and she currently has a collection of close to 100 miniature horses made from ceramic, glass, wood and other materials. She has many from places around the world where her father has been stationed. She plans to also add to her miniature horse collection as her modeling take her to new lands. Jordyn is definitely a “girly girl” and loves to wear dresses. So much so, her mother recently banned her from adding more dresses to her closet as that is her main staple. To Jordyn, “slipping on a dress is much easier than putting on pants!” Living on the east coast of Florida, Jordyn loves going to the beach. She loves looking for driftwood and fascinating sea shells. Jordyn loves to draw because art is an important part of her world. In her spare time you may even see her strolling down a warm beach in Florida writing in the sand while thinking about her next modeling shoot. At the end of the day, Jordyn is the classy “girl next door” who loves to explore life’s endless possibilities.

Flawlessness - Beauty Tips URBAN DECAY Naked 3 Palette The Urban Decay Naked 3 palette really grabs a certain audience. Naked 3 palette consists of a neutral range of soft pink undertones. This palette really would suit a lot of skin tones. Dark skin tones need to tread lightly on the very frosty pale colors, they should be worn minimally, using a light application, applying in the inner corners of the eyes, or just below the arch of the brow to bring out the brow bone. This effect works on any skin tone, it’s just dark beauties need to watch where and how much. Urban Decay does glitter eyeshadows nicely. We’re delighted to report that they blend well and are light in texture, and the glitter stays on without falling all over your cheeks through out the day or night. The matte shadow textures gave off a smooth, non-blotchy finish when we applied it. Which has been one of my perpetual adventures in the search for the perfect matte eyeshadow. Which means no blotchiness. Urban Decay provides you with a vegan brush, and it works really well. The defining shades like, Dark Side and Strange, prove to be very satin based and are light in texture, but in a powder form. They have a medium color pay off that blend well. There’s nothing better than having the perfect tools and flawless makeup to achieve a professional look. So feel free to use other brushes other than the one provided for different effects. Liar, Burnout, Buzz, Factory and Mugshot are the prettiest frosty-romantic and smoky shades. You will be able to charm a snake with these sultry shades. Personally we
would rather charm our partners over a snake, but you get the point. Surprisingly it’s safe to say that the frost is subdued in this palette, and it would also suit a mature skin type as well. Black Heart the glitter matte, it is the more enhanced version of the MAC eye shadow in Beauty Marked. Makeup is supposed to be fun and experimental. So make these neutrals a complimentary palette of staples, to mix with brighter or more bold shades. Beauty Tip: Use eye shadow primer prior to applying for a long lasting, non fading and vibrant effect. The great thing about the Urban Decay Palettes, is that it comes with a sample pack of primers to try. Bonus! TAKIE’MOTO Lipsticks TAKIE’MOTO is a collection of cosmetic products that cater to lips. All Lips Baby! So if you’re an addict/lover of lip products, then this line is for you. There are 4 categories of lipstick formulas, and 2 lines of tinted lip gloss formulas, and a clear lipgloss with high shine. Basically you need to stop what your doing and check it out. Not only do the lipsticks stay on - tested by me, they don’t dry your lips out. TAKIE’MOTO glosses are velvety-smooth and smell like bubblegum - great marketing here. Marketing aside, you will find that the lipstick lasts due to the beeswax, and the vitamin E is what keeps the product from drying out your lips. Beauty Tip: TAKIE’MOTO Lip products layer really well to create a Ombré effect. Our favorite combo is Obama lipstick

If you want long lashes this is the price we pay...hmmm....then we’ll take #7’s, #2’s, #37’s.... Best way to apply them is to use a vanity mirror that sits on your desk, adjust it so that you are looking down into the mirror, add a thin amount of glue to the spine of the lash strip (one at a time), let the glue get sticky by waiting before you apply, then press on from the outer corner to the inner using a guitar pick, metal cosmetic spatula (basically anything not too sharp) this will help it to get right close the the lash line for a seamless application, allow to dry, then apply liner and mascara to blend it all in. Bonus Tip: make sure you measure the lash strip, never assume that it will fit your eye. If the lashes
MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Foundation MUFE HD Foundation is by far my go to liquid foundation, both for myself and my clients. It’s lightweight, flawless, and they have an amazing range of colors for all ethnicities. For flawlessness, apply it with a foundation sponge, using long downward stokes. Applying it in that motion gives an airbrushed effect. For extra perfect skin, apply primer, then a BB Cream under
your foundation, and BOOM Perfect Skin! Always apply loose powder to set. My client, Musician and Female Hip Hop-Rapper Shawtee Re loves how light it feels and that it covers so well. She mentioned that after all the jumping, running, moving and being doused with water for her music video; the foundation held up amazing and looked outstanding on film. Beauty Tip: When setting your look with powder, it’s essential that when using an HD powder, you apply lightly, using patting pressing motions with a powder brush or puff. Then afterwards, take a clean brush and sweep it over your face, this will remove excess powder. Excess powder can cause a flash of the camera to produce white patches. Not so hot. No Matter what you use there is always going to be other amazing products to choose from. Sephora is probably one of the best places to go and make a choice. Because they have so many brands all in one shop. Try and get samples to try, especially if you have sensitivities or allergies. This also gives you an overall feel of what you like too, and you’re not wasting your money, or always having to return or exchange. Make a list of the products you want to try by going onto sephora.com. Check out the different brands, they’ll usually have a small description and consumer feedback to help you decide. Also be more open to trying something new, like supporting a new cosmetic brand. Great ways to see product feedback is through their social media accounts when just starting out as a business. Support locals too - Bridal shows or Cosmetic conventions usually are a great place for new and local brands. At youthful age of 15, she began to notice that she had a natural talent for modeling which has lead her to where she is at the present. She recently was chosen to be on the cover of a “Best Selling” book, “Finding Chase” by Author Lacey Weatherford. If you’re deeply into fashion and beauty, you will always find that you are constantly wanting to try new looks and new products. I love being creative and avoid becoming boring, even in my everyday dress. When I finally find an outfit or makeup look that really fits, it inspires me to show it off to others through modeling. Modeling is actually another form of art, it’s my own art. Being my own canvas challenges me to inspire others through a visual perception of my style! “

Brittany also had a lot to do with the inspiration of this photo shoot as seen here. The red dress and black boots inspiration actually came from her love of the story,”Little Red Riding Hood”. Again this shows how the thinking of a young talented model who has been influence by natural scenery such as the forest with it’s many live running streams of water , animal and insect life translates it into fashion. We look forward to being a part of her continued journey through the modeling business as it relates to her natural influences from nature. She will surely grace the cover of many more magazines and books to come!
