Care to Be Aware All year we have more conscious of what can be done in our communities and on our campuses. Let’s not forget that caring to be aware also refers to being aware of issues everywhere. Let’s make an effort to support the Typhoon Haiyan Relief efforts. Fordham is selling wristbands, the Long Island division is selling pins, Columbia is hosting a Santa Dash, and Binghamton is in the midst of planning an event. How will you and your club help those who are left homeless and hungry?

Happy Holidays NYCKI! Now that we’ve had our Thanksgiving meals and lit candles for Hanukkah, we can say that the holiday season is here. I know that along with the holiday season comes finals week and probably tons of work that needs to be completed before finals. Even in the most stressful times, I encourage you to remember that you all deserve a break. Take advantage of the service opportunities that come with the holiday season. There are so many holiday parties that could use volunteers, kids that would appreciate a new toy, or a Barnes and Nobles that could use help with gift-wrapping. It will leave you feeling refreshed and give you the energy you need to sit down and focus. To reassure yourself, think about all the projects you’ve attended this semester. Think about all the lives that you’ve impacted and all the that you’ve created. smiles The end of the semester is a bittersweet feeling. I look back on it and would like to thank everyone for making it possible. I had the chance to visit more than half of the clubs in our district and seen first-hand the incredible work that you put into serving others. DLSSP and New York Speaking were both huge successes and I hope that you’re as excited as I, along with the District Board, are for District Convention in March. Let’s finish the semester even stronger than we started it and prepare for an even better one ahead. Best of luck and enjoy the holiday season!
