The Ringwood Hawks had a super successful Saturday night last weekend and will look to back it up against Frankston on Sunday at The Rings. The Lady Hawks have improved to 7-2 and head into this round inside the top four. They play a Blues team who has struggled and sit 2-7 after nine games. Ringwood will focus plenty of their defensive attention on Steph Reid who averages 22.6 points per game and earlier this season had a 50-point game. The Ringwood men have had a slightly tougher season so far but managed to celebrate Shaun Clarke’s 300th game in style with a win over the Sabres. Frankston currently have a 5-4 record and will look to Damon Bozeman (19ppg), Igor Hadziomerovic (16.1ppg) and NBL player Majok Majok (11.7ppg & 9.9rpg) to do the bulk of the work. The Blues have also welcomed back NBL player Daniel Trist who was in Europe but returned recently to strengthen their front court.

The Players from both teams will be wearing special warm up tops to mark the occasion and these tops will be signed by the players and available to be purchased. Come see two great games of NBL1 Basketball and please help us raise money for this wonderful program. Lets pack the Rings for Mental Health next Sunday.
Welcome to “The Rings” for the 7th time this season. This week the Lady hawks are facing the dangerous Frankston Blues. Hawks haven’t faced The Blues for a while with them competing in SEABL before joining NBL1 for this season. The Lady Hawks are looking to continue with their strong form with a win last week against the Southern Sabres which turned out to be a fight till the very end but the hawks getting the win 63-58. The win last week now puts the Lady Hawks 7-2 and sitting 4th in the standings behind gun teams like Geelong, Dandenong and Bendigo. Megan Mullings was huge for the lady hawks on Saturday with 24 points 6 rebounds 4 assists and 4 steals. Cassidy Mihalko and Danni Bone were also impressive for the hawks with Mihalko having 16 points and 8 rebounds while Bone had 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. The Sabres last week had some impressive performers to keep them in the game by the likes of Rachel Jarry having 15 points 7 boards. Ella Batish had 16 points and 4 rebounds in her matchup against Megan Mullings. While Tenaya Phillips was impressive off the bench with 11 points 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Frankston having a tough season this year sitting 15th in the standings and are 2-7 but are not to be counted out having some of the best players the NBL1 can offer. The Blues also only played one game this past weekend facing up against the Knox Raiders which was great matchup, but The Blues ended up falling short 108-95. Stephanie Reid is the main scoring option and coming off 30 points and 8 assists last week and having a 50point game earlier in the season. Shereesha Richards also had a great game last week with 23 points and 7 rebounds while also averaging a double-double on the season with 11.2 points and 11.9 rebounds. Taylor Lee was also impressive with on Saturday night with a solid 19 points. The blues also have some great bench players like JoAnna Smith averaging 13.8 points, Tori Jackson and Abby Chernishoff are also decent off the bench. This is a big game for both teams with The Blues trying to get back on form and The Lady Hawks to continue to cement themselves as one of the best teams in the League. Enjoy the Game!

Welcome to the “Rings” stadium for Round 8 of the NBL1 season and today we welcome a very strong and powerful Frankston Blues. The Blues are one of the form teams of the NBL1 with a roster that rivals the best in the League. Imports Damon Bozeman and Najeal Young have both been consistent performers since joining the Blues but the team, providing leadership and scoring. The Blues boast plenty of NBL level talent with Former Melbourne United and New Zealand Breakers Centre Majok Majok, Igor Hadziomerovic and Lachlan Barker all current or former NBL players.. Alister McDonald has had a great season as well, contributing at both ends of the court. The Blues also added another NBL player a few weeks ago with Dan Trist returning from a stint in Europe to complete a formidable front court. The Blues are Coached by former SEABL star Andrew Harms who is in his second season at the helm. Last week was a much better performance by the Hawks who were able to shake off David Barlow and the Southern Sabres by 23 points. It was nice to have Matt Snow back in the line-up but Jacob Gibson, Adrien Sturt and Joey Miller significantly improved their output from previous weeks. Matt Fennell continued his good season with another impressive display. The win was a great was to celebrate the 300th Game of Club Legend Shaun Clarke who will have his jersey hung from the rafters to join Willie Weimer and Matt Snow. The Hawks are still battling injury issues and won’t be at full strength again tonight. It does open the door for more minutes to the likes of Yuot Gai and Shaun Rawson who are both ready to step up when called upon. There will definitely need to be a defensive focus today, the Blues have major scoring targets at all five positions on the court and this makes them very dangerous when they are rolling. Just ask the Knox Raiders who fell behind 28 to 2 last week at Frankston in the first quarter. The Hawks will need to be focussed with a plan from the tip off. The Players and Coaching staff of the Hawks would like to thank the sponsors and supporters for being on board with the team for 2019. Enjoy the game.

Welcome to THE RINGS for the first game of VYC double header today we play Melbourne this is a very important game for us to see how well we bounce back from Sunday’s loss V Dandenong, Melbourne currently sit 1st on the Terrill ladder and have been playing great basketball when the whole squad has been available. Last weekend we played the Southern Sabres and The Dandenong Ranges we split the weekends results in game 1 after a slow start we made some adjustments and moved the ball well in offence and locked in on key Match ups to come away with a 12 point win, key performers were, Annabel Deerbon with 22 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals, Caite Woodman relished the opportunity to start and had 15 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists and we welcomed back Courtney Lyons who chipped in with 13 points. In game 2 v Dandenong we ran into a shooting clinic where they shot at 61% in the first half, penalising any small lapses in our defence and the second half we made some adjustments and played the game out competing hard until the final buzzer. Best performers were Caite Woodman with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Annabel Deerbon with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Today’s game against the is sure to be a tough and physical contest, Melbourne are playing some impressive basketball and have a talented squad, lead By Katie Bugden who is leading the league in scoring @ 22 points and 8 rebounds per game and Hannah Giddey who is averaging 9.4 points 11 rebounds as well as leading the league in blocks and Zoe Hurley with 9.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game So it will be imperative we play with Defensive intensity to shut down Melbourne offensive opportunities for us to come away with the win We hope you enjoy the game! The Ringwood Hawks Coaches and Players wish to thank their sponsors, volunteers and supporters

Welcome to The Rings for this Round 10 clash of the 2019 BigV VYCM season. Today, we welcome the Keilor Thunder (6-8). Last weekend, your Hawks (10-3) faced a gruelling double-header. First up, we travelled to Sandringham to take on the Southern Sabres. Without Matthew Roberts and Yuot Gai (NBL1 duties), Zac Dawson and Blake Ward (injured), and Ben Linkin (illness), there was going to be plenty of opportunity for others to step up. It was a tight first period, with lots of physicality and intensity brought by the Sabres. Though we held a narrow lead at quarter time, the boys blew the game open in the second and didn’t look back. Sebastien Lees (20pts, 6rebs, 4asts) and Kaide Fittolani (18pts, 7rebs, 3asts) gave Sandringham more than they could handle. Lachie Ahale (12pts, 4rebs), Angok Angok (15pts, 6rebs) and Ethan Pimblett (11pts, 6rebs) rounded out players in double-digits. Credit goes to bottom-age U18 development players Harry Sealey, Zac Warton and Alan Ure who all shone in the final period with extended minutes. The final margin was 13 (100-87). In the second encounter, your Hawks hosted the Dandenong Rangers. The undefeated Rangers were no doubt favourites, but the boys love the underdog status. Dandenong held a two-point quarter time lead, but we were able to take control in the second, up by 8 at the half. The Rangers challenged in the third, cutting the deficit to 4. Enter the final term and it was a blowout. We ran away 25-point winners (82-57) on the back of a 22-1 final term. Sebastien Lees (13pts, 6rebs, 11asts), Yuot Gai (15pts, 10rebs, 3stls) and Lachie Ahale (18pts, 3rebs, 3stls) were among our best. It was a sincere team effort as we won just about every stat category against the benchmark of the competition so far this season. Keilor also faced a double-header last weekend, but a heart -breaking one at that. The Thunder suffered narrow defeats to the Knox Raiders and Waverley Falcons. Players to watch include Cooper Keogh (18.0pts, 7.3rebs), Zac Triplett (16.6pts, 4.7rebs, 2.5asts) and Nick Grantham (9.7pts, 6.7rebs). This will be our only encounter against Keilor this year as they sit in the alternate pool. Games of this nature are incredibly important for separating oneself from the others vying for a top-four finish. We will need this to put pressure on Kilsyth and Eltham, just as Keilor will want to keep finals hopes alive. Enjoy the game and good luck to both teams. The VYCM would like to thank the referees, score bench officials, committee, and supporters for their contributions.
