Last week in game one at Ballarat, it was the Miners who battled back after the Hawks took and early lead but could not hold on to it in the last quarter. The Hawks got an incredible game out of Harry Sealey who nailed 29 and dished out 7 dimes while the Miners best was Austin McKenzie with an impressive 21, 5 and 4. Today is a different though with the Hawks back at the Rings, a big local crowd and a chance to take the series to 3 games. If the Miners can start well then they will like their chances of hanging on and getting the job done on Saturday but this Hawks team has shown a great ability to bounce back after a loss so that will be a difficult task. A Game 2 win would surely put the Hawks in a good spot to take out Game 3 and the Championship. These are two excellent youth team and the quality of play last week was outstanding so we can expect a high scoring and entertaining affair. During half time of Game 2 the Big V will be presenting the VYCM season award winners so please stay in your seats for the festivities. Congratulations to those who are award winners this season. Thanks for all the volunteers and great people who help keep the Hawks senior program up there with the best in the State.

Welcome to the Rings for Game 2 (and possible Game 3) of the 2022 Big V VYCM Championship series between the Ringwood Hawks and Ballarat Miners.

The boys have been hard at work this week, reviewing and re emphasising what went well, the scout, and adjustments that need to be made. They have made The Rings a fortress this year, particularly in the second half of the season. Their confidence remains high and will be re energised on their home floor in front of a raucous home crowd. It has been said before, but again the staff and playing group wish to thank our sponsors, families, junior players and coaches, supporters, committee, referees, score bench officials, and game day staff for their contributions. It has been a great year, and the boys will be back just as hungry in 2023. Enjoy the game.

It is a great feeling returning to our home floor for Game 2 (and hopefully 3) of the 2022 Big V Victorian Youth Championship Men Grand Final series. We welcome and congratulate the Ballarat Miners on making the Grand Final. In what can very well be described the best game of the entire VYCM season last Saturday, Ballarat stepped it up in the second half to take game 1 (101 89). A high intensity, efficient, and well executed game at Selkirk, wowed a healthy crowd, made of up many Ringwood supporters. The entire group appreciates everyone that made the trek down the freeway.

Although we led at the half by 2, the game changer was Ballarat’s generation of second chance points (+16) that proved our undoing, along with the Miners making shots down the stretch that we could not match. Harry Sealey (29pts, 5rebs, 7asts) stole the show, clearly the best on the floor of all players. The rest of our starters were also fantastic; Bayley Rough (17pts, 15rebs, 3asts), Lachlan Ahale (15pts, 7rebs, 5asts), Sebastien Lees (13pts, 6asts) and Angok Angok (12pts, 8rebs). For the Miners, contributions were also vast, demonstrating their immense depth. Most impressive was William Hynes (12pts, 9rebs, 9asts) off the bench, just shy of a triple double. Austin McKenzie (21pts, 5rebs, 4asts, 3stls) led the starters, and was supported by Jeremiah McKenzie (17pts, 7rebs, 4asts), Lucas Impey (11pts, 10rebs), and Amos Brooks (11pts, 7rebs).
