Don’tYou can watch live or catch the replay of the NBL1 Games of the week from around the Country.

For the Hawks it’s been the trio of Marena Whittle, Marta Hermida and Digna Strautmane who have done the damage all season. Combined they average 52.1 points, 25.4 rebounds and just under eight steals per game. It’s set to be thrilling contest, with the winner moving onto the final four and the loser to meet either Knox or Waverley. Let’s hoop!

It’s time for NBL1 finals basketball!

The Ringwood Hawks women play Mt Gambier in the first week of the finals, and after finishing second on the ladder will be aiming to stamp their ticket straight through to the final four. The two teams played each other just once during the regular season, with the Hawks claiming a 62 55 win. It was a defensive grind of a game and if Ringwood will be hoping it’s much the same this time around. Leading the way for the Pioneers has been Cassandra Brown and Sherrie Calleia. Brown is averaging 19.27 points and 7.82 rebounds per game, while Calleia producing 15.65 points and five assists per outing.

Today’s game will see the winner progress to the Preliminary Final whilst the loser will have to defend home court in a Semi Final. Thank you to all our incredible volunteers and sponsors that have been behind the girls all season long. Without you, we would not be playing NBL1 Finals Basketball tonight. We hope you enjoy the game wether you are at home enjoying the live stream or in the building cheering us on. GO HAWKS!

The Pioneers finished the regular season at 15 7 and rank 3rd on the NBL1 South Women’s ladder.

The Pioneers come into this game having lost 4 of their past 5 games, but if the regular season matchup between both teams is anything to go by, the Hawks will be in for a tough game tonight.

Welcome to The Rings for the Second Qualifying Final of the NBL1 South season as the Hawks play host to the Mt Gambier Pioneers.

The Pioneers are led by stars Cassandra Brown who is currently averaging 19.27 ppg, 7.82 rpg and 1.82 apg and Sherrie Calleia who is averaging 15.65 ppg, 5.40 rpg and 5 apg. They are an explosive offensive team and can put up points in a hurry.

The Hawks lost last time out against the Knox Raiders (64 66) but have used the week to make some adjustments and should be more switched on this week. The Hawks were led by Marta Hermida who had 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists, Marena Whittle who had 13 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals and Digna Strautmane who had 14 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 blocks.

Thanks to our great photographers who are the best in NBL1.

*Last Saturday was a massive day for the Hawks and our volunteers. A Big V Grand Final at 3pm then NBL1 Women at 6pm and Men at 8pm. All games live streamed with the NBL1 games on Kayo. The voices of the Hawks Matt Hickey and Brayden Woods would have both had no voice left come Monday and the crew pictured below certainly earned themselves a little glass of something to celebrate.

*Wasgame.great to see Commonwealth Games 3x3 Coach Damon Lowery at the Rings for last weeks Youth Grand Final. Lowery lavished high praise on his Bronze Medal winning team and in particular Marena Whittle who he said was a true professional.

*Our Hawks Women have been outstanding all season and have set themselves up nicely. The Ladies finished in second place which gives them homecourt all the way through unless they run in to Bendigo who finished on top.

*What about that last round of NBL Basketball last week. There were so many teams in both the Women’s and Men’s division that were in the hunt for playoffs right to the very end. Spare a thought for our Hawks Men who went in to overtime against the Knox Raiders and had to watch as Kyle Daggett’s game winning three pointer rim out which left the Hawks out of the playoffs. The guys didn’t have much luck this year and were forced to play their last and most important game of the season without import Tim Guers who decided to go home against the Clubs wishes. The guys lost 3 games by 2 points of less and missed the Finals by one

THE RINGS STADIUM UPGRADE A little over a month ago, Victorian Liberal Leader Matthew Guy visited the Rings Stadium and made a rather large announcement. The Libs have made a commitment to a very long overdue upgrade of the Stadium that will benefit the Ringwood Community in a big way. The Ringwood Basketball Association has grown 60% since 2010 and is desperate for more courts to cater for NBL1, Big V, VJBL, senior and junior domestic, schools and development programs. The 15 Million dollar commitment includes the following, *4 additional Courts including a show court. *Increased spectator seating and a new video scoreboard. *Improved changerooms for players and referees. *Mezzanine floor and function room. *Additional car parking. *Energy efficient upgrades throughout the facility. These upgrades will insure that the Association will be able to grow and continue to service the sporting needs of Maroondah.. At this stage the Labour Government has not matched the Liberals commitment to the Rings development. If they don’t it will mean that if Labour win the upcoming election, the development wouldn't go ahead.
