HISTORICAL LOGOS
Welcome to The Rings for round 11 - First Nations Round - of the NBL1 South season as the Hawks play host to the Launceston Tornadoes. Today, we are privileged to be wearing artwork sent to us by Tavis Perry on behalf of the Titjikala Nation in Alice Springs. We are grateful for the artwork and the help of our partners at XLR8 for the product you see on court today. The Tornadoes are 9-4 on the season and sit 5th on the NBL1 South Women’s ladder after 10 rounds. The Tornadoes come into this game having won four of their last five games and they will be looking to continue that winning form tonight against the Hawks.
The Tornadoes are led by stars Keely Froling who is currently averaging 28.5 ppg, 13.16 rpg, 3.16 apg and 2.41 spg and Kelsey Griffin who is averaging 25.25 ppg, 12.16 rpg, 3.5 apg, 2.33 spg and 1 bpg. The Hawks come into this game having won four of our last five games also, including two in a row at Norwood last week. The first was a 24-point win against the Melbourne Tigers (71-47). The Hawks were led by Marena Whittle who had 17 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks, Marta Hermida who had 19 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals and Digna Strautmane who had 11 points, 10 rebounds, 2 steals and 7 blocks. The second win came against the Waverley Falcons (85-55). In this game, the Hawks were led by Marena Whittle who had 30 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals and a block, Digna Strautmane who had 18 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks, Marta Hermida who had 18 points, 6 assists, 2 steals and a block and Jacqui Trotto who had 10 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks.
Welcome to First Nations round and it’s a big round with tonight’s games against Launceston and NW Tasmania being shown live on Kayo.
The Hawks are well aware of how talented the NW Thunder are as they faced each other in Ulverstone not that long ago with the Thunder getting the win. It is a much different looking team now though with Sean MacDonald, Fabijan Krslovic and Joe Chilcott on the roster which takes them to another level. Last week the Thunder easily handled the Dandenong Rangers at home and currently have a record of 6 wins and 7 losses. It was a very busy week last week for the Hawks with 2 games at Norwood for midweek School holiday hoops. The Tigers game was very disappointing with a 2 point loss but on Friday the boys redeemed themselves with a big win over the Waverley Falcons. Emmett Naar, Tim Guers and Kyle Daggett all played very well as did Matt Roberts who has stepped up in the absence of Matt Fennell. Both of these teams are in play off contention but there is not much wriggle room and todays game is a massive one. The Hawks will need to bring the intensity that they showed against Waverley and handle the Thunder’s pressure defence. They also cant let MacDonald and Krslovic get going from the 3 point line as they are more than capable of being game winners on their own. Thanks to our volunteers, sponsors and supporters and we hope you enjoy the game.

The Hawks 2022 Indigenous uniform artwork was supplied by Tavis Perry on behalf of the Titjikala Nation in Alice Springs. The Titjikala Nation is situated 130 km south of Alice Springs. With a population of 237, the community sits nestled among the red sand dunes of the Simpson Desert straddling the Hugh River. The Hawks, through our sponsors XLR8 Sports, are proud to supply basketball uniforms to the Titjikala Nation Community and thank them for the magnificent artwork.
Welcome to The Rings for our VYCW Ringwood Hawks Round 15 matchup with the Casey Cavaliers. We look forward to play a tough, quality side tonight in Casey, who sit top of their conference heading into the final few games. We have been extremely impressed with our teams efforts to compete with the top teams in the competition for the past 2 weeks, and have seen some strong improvement in both player and the team. Last weeks game saw us face a strong Altona Gators side that were fighting for a playoff spot. After a strong opening half, our girls took a 4 point lead into the main break. Altona were able to elevate their level, capitalising on our mistakes, leading to our girls falling 53-64. Captain Erin Hynson (16pts, 6reb, 5stl, 2blk) had a season best performance, while Katrina Warton (11pts, 5reb, 3ast) was impressive. As our season draws to a close over the next 2 weeks, we look forward to facing some tough teams in the hope of gaining some end of season wins. Our form and improvement over recent weeks suggests we can really push these stronger sides.
Welcome to The Rings for this Round 15 clash against your Ringwood Hawks (11-8) and the Eltham Wildcats (11-9). In this penultimate round, it is still incredibly tight, with teams placed 1 st through 6th competing for a finals berth. Tonight is 2nd VS 3rd in the Terrill Pool. Disappointingly, we enter this evening after losing to the Kilsyth Cobras last weekend (68-76). There was plenty to be positive about on the stats sheet, but we could not hit shots, struggling with 34% from the field, 27% from deep, and 53% from the line. Bayley Rough’s double-double (17pts, 11rebs) set the tone, with Harry Sealey (22pts, 4asts) and Sebastien Lees (3pts, 12rebs, 8asts) fighting hard despite difficulties with scoring efficiency. Excellent off the bench were Zac Warton (4pts, 7rebs) and Bailey Hamilton (3pts, 8rebs), with the duo both healthy and available together for the first time since early in the season. Eltham lost a close one against the league-leading Knox Raiders, going down by 8-points at home (70-78). Kye Agosta (26pts, 4rebs) was excellent, along with Zac Anderson (12pts, 11rebs, 3asts). The last time we met with the Wildcats was round 1 on their floor, coming away with a hardfought 14-point win. Both sides are different now, having grown and improved in all aspects on the game. With everything on the line to make the final four, get ready for a battle! The VYCM would like to thank the referees, score bench officials, committee, and supporters for their contributions. Good luck to both teams and enjoy the game.
