The Adventure Awaits...........
The rock hit the framed window of the quiet tall linear building, shattering it. We step through the broken shards of glass and feel our way around the walls, reaching out for the light switch. We hear footsteps on the metal floor. I grab Fletcher by his arm and spin him into the dark corner where I was hiding. I can feel his breath on the back of my neck which sent shivers down my spine. Big heavy sound of boots vibrate through us, a guard. He was heading towards the controls room. We took a step back into the corner more discreetly, so he wouldn’t notice us in the dim light, I caught a glimpse of shiny light as something he was holding dropped to the floor, but it didn’t make a sound when it hit. “Damn it, Ryder” whispered Fletcher, “We wanted to go in there.” I quickly, but quietly ran to pick it up. As I approached I could see it was a space ticket
“Yes, just what we need.” I strode back to Fletcher and as I reach out to pull Fletcher up, I accidentally grab the cord. Realising what the cord was, I tugged it as hard as I could. The room filled with bright red flashing lights, which sent the guard out to investigate. “Good one dude.” Fletcher blurted out. We hid against the wall hoping the guard would run straight out and not look back. “Ok, I think the coast is clear. Let’s go prove my point. “ As we ran through the massive center, searching for the controls room, my hands shook with fear. It wasn’t lit up, it was dark and cool so the computers didn’t overheat. From the lights of the computer, I located the big red lever. I pulled it. The room filled with blinding lights. As our eyes adjusted to the light I quickly typed in my password to access the space pod. “Fletcher, we’re set and about to start our journey of a year in space.” As Fletcher and I were buckling up I asked, "are you ready to take the sleeping pill needed for such a long journey", “Yes let’s do this”. We reflected briefly for a moment, our world we were leaving and all of the good and bad memories with it.” These thoughts were interrupted as we heard a loud distorted shout from outside the locked door of the control room. My heart skipped a beat with panic and we just froze. We swallowed the sleeping pill and closed the pods small door shut. TAKE OFF IN…
5 My heart was pumping so hard it felt like it would burst my chest, 4 I clutched onto my seat belt and prepared myself for the journey ahead, 3 This is it I am about to prove my point, 2 The locked door was vibrating from the man on it, 1 My head was spinning, my body went numb, my heart was screaming, TAKE OFF!!!!
I could see clouds and the world beneath our feet as we shot up to the sky. Stars filled the sky and everything else just disappeared as we floated through space. My mind disappeared into the distance and went blank from the sleeping pills kicking in….. 4 hours later…. We woke up “I wonder to myself that they would probably be looking for me and Fletcher because what we did was against the law, but by this stage I don’t know if we will even get back to earth.” I started writing my diary entry for the people back home who would be relaxing and not worrying about anything because they wouldn’t need to remember how to control this space pod. All they would need to know was how to control a T.V remote.
The pod is flying straight towards the undiscovered planet “See I knew there was a planet with life I knew it didn’t I Fletcher.” Oh my heart stopped with grief as I remembered he was gone.
