History The company was founded on April 12 in 1920 in Medellin by visionaries. It’s was born as the Red Cross chocolates campaign.
In 1924 it was changed its name changed to “Compañia Nacional de Chocolates". In 1933 it was created the red seal coffee brand and became a shareholder of “NOEL” cookies. In 1958 “COLCAFE” brand was created for the commercialization of coffee, in 1993, it was the foundation of “DULCES de COLOMBIA S.A”. In 1997, the “DORIA” brand leader in the sale of pasta. In 2000 it was founded “NOVAVENTA S.A” magazine was founded through which the company's products are offered, in 2005 it was acquired “COMARRICO” pastas is achieved. In 2006,it was changed the name of "Compañía Nacional de Chocolates SA" by national “GRUPO DE CHOCOLATES S.A”. In 2008 it was set the foundation of the research center of nutrition, health and well-being (VIDARIUM). In 2009, it acquired "NUTRESA S.A", a Mexican company. In 2011, it changed its name back to the "Grupo Nacional De Chocolates S.A", by the “GRUPO NUTRESA S.A", is currently known. In 2014, the acquired the "Grupo Corral", which is one of the best meat brands of which "NUTRESA S.A" is currently the owner.
CEo Carlos Ignacio Gallego, who has been working in the company for more than 20 years. He has a Civil Engineering degree from Eafit University and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Eafit University. He speaks three languages, Spanish, English and German. Since 1991 he joined the “Compañia Nacional de Chocolates” one of the key companies of Group NUTRESA, as a Technical Planning Engineer and was climbing within the organization, between 2004 and 2006, as its Industrial Vice President.
