President’s Letter Dear Neighbors, As we approach the end of Roselle Park District’s current fiscal year, it is my pleasure to share with you that the District has had another year of great results! The Park District’s management and staff continue to perform their duties within the stated budget while providing a high level of service, as well as many, many enjoyable classes and events for our District residents to enjoy. Being in such a stable financial place makes it possible to continue our upward trend, rolling out exciting plans for the coming year. We are especially proud to announce the District was again awarded a Certificate of Achievement from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. This award is the highest form of recognition given in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, so receiving this honor represents a significant accomplishment. In addition, the District became an Accredited Agency through the Park District Risk Management Association by achieving two yearly audit scores above 96% for its last two audits. As residents of Roselle Park District we should be proud and thankful for our dedicated Park District management and staff. Pool season is almost upon us, it’s time to purchase or renew your pool pass membership. Kemmerling Pool received a 5-Star (out of 5) overall rating for the last four seasons from SAI, one of the largest lifeguard, swim instructor and pool operator certifying agencies in the United States. Many of our staff from last year are returning, so we look forward to another safe and wonderful summer. Mark your calendars for: • Fishing Derby Frenzy (page 6) • Touch-A-Truck (page 7) • Build A Boat (page 8) • Concert Series (page 6-9) • Bounce Back To School (page 8)
• Spring Dance Recital (page 6) • Luau at Kemmerling Pool (page 8) • Summer Teen Nights (page 6-8) • Summer Theater Presentation (page 35) • Summer Chicago Sox Game (page 6), Chicago Cubs Game (page 7)
On behalf of the entire Board and staff at the Roselle Park District, I thank all of you for your continued support and use of our programs and facilities. We anticipate the current year to be as successful as this last fiscal year. We hope you will join us this season and explore your favorite ways to have some fun in your very own Roselle Park District backyard -- a great place to work and play. David Hansen, President

Volunteer Coaches Needed! Be it our in-house soccer and basketball leagues, or Raptors travel basketball teams, volunteer coaches are a valuable ingredient in our youth athletic programs. Without caring moms and dads from the community, giving of their time and effort, we would not be able to offer these types of activities. They understand the valuable lessons of participation, teamwork, character, and sportsmanship. The Roselle Park District feels these long-term principles are paramount and cannot be shoved aside in order to achieve short-term “victories.” If you are a “first timer,” we offer clinics and an on-line coach’s certification program for those interested in this fun and rewarding opportunity. Please call Vic Orlandino at (630)894-4200 for details.
Keep your child engaged!

youth sports Ages 5-14 Fall Youth Soccer League (VO) Ages 5-13
Shotokan Karate (VO) Ages 4 and up
Park district members of the Mid-Suburban Soccer League have adopted the new standards set forth by the U.S. Youth Soccer Organization. Now age groups will play small sided games with adjusted field sizes to encourage more touches and player development. The adopted changes will create more skillful players by allowing for more individual teaching and play time on either side of the ball. Emphasis in the Mid-Suburban Soccer League will remain focused on individual instruction, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Teams will be based on approximately 6 to 15 players per roster depending on age groups. Wait lists will be used until there are enough players and a volunteer head coach to form another team. A seven game season starting September 12 will be played on Saturdays against neighboring park districts. Time and location of games will be determined by league schedules. Practices will be held during the week based on coach’s availability. Practices will start two weeks prior to game play dependent upon securing enough volunteer coaches. Parents will receive a call from their child’s coach once the team selection process is completed informing them of first practice location, date and time. Registering before the July 18 early-bird deadline does not necessarily guarantee a spot on a team due to minimum/maximum numbers established to form a team. The number of teams competing this fall out of the Roselle Park District is to be submitted to league officials early August for scheduling purposes.
Illinois Shotokan Karate Club is Chicagoland’s premier karate school taught under the instruction of John DiPasquale, a four-time National Champion, US National Coach and President of the US National Karate Federation.

Jazz: Jazz is a style of dance that will allow the dancer to learn the most important skills of dance, while adding a splash of spark to their performances. This class will improve the dancer’s skills, flexibility, posture, and stage presence. They will also learn various combinations and routines throughout the classes. Tap: Tap is an extremely unique style of dance. It teaches dancers to focus mainly on their feet, instead of using their whole bodies to express the emotion. It allows them to use their feet to make the music, and to hear the back beats and counts. This class will help the dancers learn new skills and routines. Hip Hop: Hip Hop is fun, funky, and very unique. Free-formed and derived from its street history, it’s a lot of pop and lock, filled with sharp percussive moves. It allows dancers to learn an up-beat type of dance, while having a great time. They will be able to develop their skills and stage presence. Dancers will learn crisp movements while also learning to move with the music. Class will include flexibility, skills, and different combinations.

DANCE Acro: Acro is a style of dance that combines jazz technique with acrobatic elements. This class is highly recommended for dancers who want to improve their flexibility and strength, as well as their dance and tumbling skills, while having a great time. Pointe: Pointe is only open to dancers who have mastered the necessary levels of ballet and have been approved by the instructor. Pointe is similar to ballet, however dancers wear pointe shoes: ballet shoes with a hard, full soled shank and a boxed toe. The Pointe shoe allows the dancer to go fully onto Pointe while in releve. This class is for the more advanced dancer (at least 3 years ballet experience and 12 years old) and requires dancers to be in additional ballet class, and instructor approval. Not everyone is made for Pointe class, so ankle/foot bone structure, stage of growth and strength must all be considered by the instructor prior to participation. Leaps and Turns: This class concentrates on the technical aspects of leaping, jumping, and turning by teaching a series of jumps, leaps and turns while focusing on weight and direction changes. Dancers will refine their skills and develop balance, strength, elevation, and body alignment.
Roselle School of Dance (EM) Summer Offerings Ages 2-14 Summer dance classes are a great way to keep your dancer busy this summer with twirling, leaping, moving, and of course, dancing! There is no better way to keep your child interested in dance, or get them started in dance classes before the fall season. When choosing a class for your dancer please place him/her in a class based on their age, prior dance knowledge, and skill level. If your dancer has not previously taken dance they may be better suited for a lower level class to get the attention they need to succeed as a dancer. Summer Dance fees cover the class for the duration of the summer. We do not have any costumes or shows during the summer season. All dancers should reach the age requirement by May 1, 2016 Summer School of Dance MIN/MAX: 4/10

Interactive Promethean White Boards The new technology products in the classrooms will strengthen early learning. Youngsters will be excited to use and learn on these tools throughout the year. Children of all learning styles will be actively engaged in their individual learning. Current research has shown that technology is changing the way children learn, and interactive boards will keep the attention of a preschooler for longer periods of time. These boards will be used in various ways in the classroom by both the teachers and the preschoolers. This new interactive technology will enhance circle time, music and movement, read alouds, and shape the foundation for success in grades K-12. Carpet, Floors, Cabinets, and Countertops The new carpet tiles, floor tiles, and cabinets and countertops bring a freshness to the preschool rooms. Rooms have a brighter look and feel as we prepare to enter the 2016-2017 school year.

For all facility rentals, Clauss Recreation Center, or Turner Park, there is a consistent $25 increase for non-residents in addition to the stated resident fees.
Wait List Process A wait list is formed when a class reaches participant levels beyond the maximum. The wait list is designed to maintain interested people in a holding area until more spaces in the program are available, someone drops out, transfers, or a new section is added by park district staff based on interest. The wait list is maintained based on the order we process registrations. Customers will be contacted for confirmation before being added to one of our wait lists (or transferred from a wait list into the desired program) by the front desk or specific program supervisor. Please note: before a participant is transferred into a program all corresponding paperwork and payments are required.
What If I Have A Special Need? Participants who require special assistance during park district programs should note their needs on the registration form and call (630) 894-4200 to notify the park district. The Western Dupage Special Recreation Association may be contacted at (630) 681-0962 for additional services. Please note: there is a box to check on our program registration form to alert our Front Desk Attendants and Recreation Supervisors that these services are desired for any given program.
The Roselle Park District does not provide medical coverage for injuries suffered while participating in park district programs, or while using park facilities. The Park District, therefore, cannot assume responsibility for personal injury for persons participating in a recreation program or using facilities. Patrons are advised to make provisions for this coverage in their own personal insurance program.
Refund Policy The Roselle Park District endorses a customer satisfaction policy and strives to provide high quality programs, services, and facilities. However, sometimes expectation levels or situations occur that do not meet the satisfaction of our customers and a refund request is made. In order to be considered for a class/program refund we ask that you fill out the online Refund Request form located at rparks.org under the Registration tab. Questions call (630) 894-4200. 1.
Individuals requesting refunds with two or more business days notice, prior to the first class meeting or practice will receive a full refund, less $5 for administrative costs.
2.
No refunds will be issued for any program after second meeting of a program, unless a physician’s note is provided. Refund requested for medical reasons will be prorated from the time the request is received.
3.
Trips and special events require reservations and planning weeks ahead of time and therefore do not allow us to grant refund requests unless there is a wait list and someone can fill the spot. Refunds will not be granted after trips or special events have occurred.
4.
Refunds with facility rental fees:
• Cancellation request 30 or more calendar days prior to rental date = full refund (less $5 for administrative costs)
Returned Check Policy We gladly accept personal checks as payment. If for any reason a check is returned to our office marked “NSF,” we will contact you. You will then be required to submit a full cash or money order payment, as well as a $30 bookkeeping fee, within a ten business day period. Class privileges will be suspended and new registration will not be accepted until payment is received.
What About Insurance?
• Cancellation request 15-29 calendar days prior to rental date = 50% refund (less $5 for administrative costs)
• Cancellation request 5-14 calendar days prior to rental date = 25% refund (less $5 for administrative costs)
• Cancellation request 5 or less calendar days prior to rental date = no refund. 5.
The Park District will not issue refunds for Pooch Permits or Lake Park High School Student Parking Permits.
6.
Some classes, programs, and fees have specific refund policies that will be adhered to.
7.
The Park District reserves the right to judge refund requests on a case-by-case basis and partial or full refunds may or may not be approved at any time at the discretion of the district.
8.
Refunds can take up to thirty days.
