President’s letter Dear Neighbors, On behalf of the Roselle Park Board of Commissioners, I am extremely pleased to present the District’s Annual Report included in the center spread of this brochure. Your Park District continued to grow more financially stable during the 2014-15 period for the fourth year in a row. Our continued commitment to sustainable governance was further reinforced by Standard and Poor’s awarding the District a AA Bond rating as well as being certified by the Illinois Government Finance Officers Association. This fiscal year exceeded our budgeted revenue goals while successfully implementing actions outlined throughout the Annual Report. In order to provide you with some overall financial details of our operations, the Annual Report includes our revenues and expenditures from our last fiscal year, which began May 1, 2014 and ended on April 30, 2015. Roselle Park District staff has done a wonderful job achieving these goals. We encourage you to review our complete Strategic Plan which can be found on the District’s website at rparks.org. On October 4, 2014 RPD was awarded a PARC grant – Park and Recreational Facility Construction grant – in the amount $2.477 million. While the District did fast track all the necessary paperwork to secure the funding, the grant was ultimately frozen. The District continues to be hopeful that the Illinois Department of Natural Resources will honor our contract; we have begun to look at alternative funding solutions for the Turner Park project. Our Recreation Staff has also been hard at work creating new special events and sports leagues for all different ages and stages. Mark your calendars for: • Chicago Blackhawks Trip • Noon New Year’s Eve (parents and children) • Daddy Daughter Date Night • Santa RV Visits • Cupcake Competition On behalf of the entire Board and staff at the Roselle Park District, I thank all of you for your continued support and use of our programs and facilities. We anticipate the current year to be as successful as this last fiscal year. We hope you will join us during the coming months and explore your favorite ways to have some fun in your very own Roselle Park District backyard -- a great place to work and play. Newly Renovated and Enhanced Preschool Rooms Interactive Promethean White Boards The new technology products in the classrooms will strengthen early learning. Youngsters will be excited to use and learn on these tools throughout the year. Children of all learning styles will be actively engaged in their individual learning. Current research has shown that technology is changing the way children learn, and interactive boards will keep the attention of a preschooler for longer periods of time. These boards will be used in various ways in the classroom by both the teachers and the preschoolers. This new interactive technology will enhance circle time, music and movement, read alouds, and shape the foundation for success in grades K-12. Carpet, Floors, Cabinets, and Countertops The new carpet tiles, floor tiles, and cabinets and countertops bring a freshness to the preschool rooms. Rooms have a brighter look and feel as we prepare to enter the 2016-2017 school year.

youth sports Volunteers
íP]èB}çRQæZY OVER 60 ROSELLE PARK DISTRICT SPORTS CLASSES, AND LEAGUES FOR YOUTH.
The Roselle Park District staff would like to thank our volunteer soccer coaches for their time and effort this past fall season. Their names: Chris Kontos, Kim Matson, Daren Townsend, John Mensik, Victor Tellez, Mike Widelski, Brian Lis, and Tom Swiontek. Volunteer Coaches Needed! Be it our in-house soccer and basketball leagues, or Raptors travel basketball teams, volunteer coaches are a valuable ingredient in our youth athletic programs. Without caring moms and dads from the community, giving of their time and effort, we would not be able to offer these types of activities. They understand the valuable lessons of participation, teamwork, character, and sportsmanship. The Roselle Park District feels these long-term principles are paramount and cannot be shoved aside in order to achieve short-term “victories.” If you are a “first timer,” we offer clinics and an on-line coach’s certification program for those interested in this fun and rewarding opportunity. Please call Vic Orlandino at 630-894-4200 for details.
Keep your child engaged!

Youth Sports ages 5-13 Spring Youth Soccer League (VO) Ages 5-13 Emphasis in the Mid-Suburban Soccer League is placed on individual instruction, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Teams will be based on approximately 12 to 15 players per roster depending on age groups. Waiting lists will be used until there are enough players and a volunteer head coach to form another team. Games are played on Saturdays against neighboring park districts. Competition will begin April 16. Practices will be held during the week based on coach’s availability. Practices will start two weeks prior to game play dependent upon a particular level having enough volunteer coaches lined-up. Parents will receive a call from their child’s coach once the team selection process is completed. The number of teams competing this spring out of the Roselle Park District is to be submitted to league officials mid-March for scheduling purposes. Registering before or after this timeframe does not necessarily guarantee a spot on a team due to minimum and maximum numbers needed to form a team. Register early to ensure your child’s spot on a team! Take advantage of our early-bird sign-up fee of resident rate $60, non-resident $70 by registering before February 15. All registrations submitted from February 15 on will be charged an additional ten dollars and, again, players cannot be guaranteed a spot on a team. Volunteer coaches are always needed for this program. Please indicate on registration form if you would be able to manage a team. Also, please let our front desk staff know if you would be interested in coaching. They will make note of this in our computer registration software. If you are not familiar with the game of soccer, don’t worry, we can teach you everything you need to know. DIVISION CUT OFF DATE: August 1, 2015 Age of a child as of August 1, 2015, will determine at what level he/she will be eligible to play in this spring. For example: the “U” (as in U8 Division) indicates child must be under the age of eight as of August 1, 2015, to participate in that level. If nine years old as of the August 1, 2015, child should be enrolled in U(under)10 division. FEE: R $70/NR $80

Dance
Roselle Park District School of Dance (EM) Class Descriptions Princess Dance: Princess Dancers will have a magical time imagining that they are a dancing princess as they learn introductory ballet skills and incorporate a princess’s story. The dance instructor will feature popular princesses that all young dancers can relate to.
4O×<
Dance Exploration Enrichment: Dance Exploration will allow the dancer to kick their heels up, shimmy, shake, twist, shout, and turn all about while they try out different styles of dance. While dancing their hearts out, dancers will learn the importance of stretching, basic dance terms, simple choreography, and play dance games. Props may be incorporated with this class to build interest for the young and new dancer. The dance instructor will focus on basic movements and steps and the students will leave with basic dance knowledge of different styles. Dancers should bring a sack lunch. Tiny Ballerinas: Tiny Ballerinas will allow the tiny dancers to begin to further develop their introductory ballet skills, while also having fun. This class will teach the dancers basic skills and flexibility, so that if they decide to continue dancing they will be able to take their skills to the next level.
OVER 20 DANCE OFFERINGS FOR YOUTH. THE SPRING DANCE RECITAL WILL BE HELD ON MAY 14 AT LAKE PARK HIGH SCHOOL WEST CAMPUS AUDITORIUM. Family and friends are invited to come out and enjoy this show! Tickets go on sale in April.

Tiny Tappers: Tiny Tappers will allow the tiny dancers to begin to learn tap skills, while also having fun by making noise with their feet. This class will teach the dancers basic skills, so if they decide to continue dancing they will be ready to take their skills to the next level. This class will teach ballet technique (ballet is the foundation for all dance disciplines) such as body lines and posture and incorporate tapping with their feet to make the music, and to hear the back beats and counts. Ballet: Ballet is the most important style of dance and is the foundation for all other dance disciplines. This class is highly recommended for any dancer who wants to improve on their skills because it is the core of all dance technique and movement. This class puts emphasis on flexibility, skills, and posture. Ballet focuses on building the strength and technique of a dancer, and will help any dancer planning to pursue a higher level of dance in the future. Jazz: Jazz is a style of dance that will allow the dancer to learn the most important skills of dance, while adding a splash of spark to their performances. This class will improve the dancer’s skills, flexibility, posture, and stage presence. They will also learn various combinations and routines throughout the classes. Tap: Tap is an extremely unique style of dance. It teaches dancers to focus mainly on their feet, instead of using their whole bodies to express the emotion. It allows them to use their feet to make the music, and to hear the back beats and counts. This class will help the dancers learn new skills and routines. Hip Hop: Hip Hop is fun, funky, and very unique. Free-formed and derived from its street history, it’s a lot of pop and lock, filled with sharp percussive moves. It allows dancers to learn an up-beat type of dance, while having a great time. They will be able to develop their skills and stage presence. Dancers will learn crisp movements while also learning to move with the music. Class will include flexibility, skills, and different combinations.

Dance Acro: Acro is a style of dance that combines jazz technique with acrobatic elements. This class is highly recommended for dancers who want to improve their flexibility and strength, as well as their dance and tumbling skills, while having a great time. Pointe: Pointe is only open to dancers who have mastered the necessary levels of ballet and have been approved by the instructor. Pointe is similar to ballet, however dancers wear pointe shoes: ballet shoes with a hard, full soled shank and a boxed toe. The Pointe shoe allows the dancer to go fully onto Pointe while in releve. This class is for the more advanced dancer (at least 3 years ballet experience and 12 years old) and requires dancers to be in additional ballet class, and instructor approval. Not everyone is made for Pointe class, so ankle/foot bone structure, stage of growth and strength must all be considered by the instructor prior to participation. Leaps and Turns: This class concentrates on the technical aspects of leaping, jumping, and turning by teaching a series of jumps, leaps and turns while focusing on weight and direction changes. The Park District urges skaters to exercise caution and obey all posted signs. We encourage everyone to participate in these activities in a safe manner and suggest that children be supervised by a responsible adult.

I accordance with the Recreation In Department policy, all program participants D must sign a hold-harmless agreement prior m tto participation in department sponsored programs. The waivers are on the bottom p portion of program registration forms, p designated sign-in sheets, and fitness d membership applications. These must be m ssigned by the adult participating in an adult program; and by the parent or legal guardian p oof participant under 18.
Include Payment & Sign Waiver/Release W P Please note that you need to include full payment and a signed waiver and release p ffor your form to be processed. Credit card payments require an additional signature to p aauthorize payment. For these reasons, we are unable to accept phone-in registrations. u
In Case of an Error C Complete details of program policies, procedures and guidelines are sometimes p oomitted from the program brochures because oof space limitations. Also, errors in days, ttimes, registration requirements and fees may ooccur as well. We apologize for any errors that may appear in the brochure. We thank you for your patience and understanding when these situations arise.
Program Room and Area Locations Sometimes Move Around! Program locations are subject to change. Roselle Park District staff reserves the right to make changes to room/area locations if deemed necessary for the participation and safety of all our registrants and programs. This type of flexibility is necessary to ensure that all planned program sessions can meet and activities can go as planned.
Register Early
Nothing ruins a good program quicker than everyone waiting until the last minute to register for it. There is a point where if there aren’t enough registrants to hold the program, it is cancelled. Coming in the day of, or the day before the program won’t resurrect it. Please register at least a week early to avoid disappointment.

registration policies Residency Not all Roselle residents are Roselle Park District residents. Even though you may have a Roselle address, you may pay taxes to another park district. Therefore, proof of residency is required when registering for programs for the first time. This may be done with a driver’s license, utility bill, (or a mortgage statement for those who are recently moving to the area). Roselle Park District residents support the district through property tax contributions.
Non Resident Fees Unless specified by a particular program, the non-resident program fee is an additional $10 or 50% of the regular fee, whichever is less. This does not apply to facility rentals. For all facility rentals, Clauss Recreation Center, or Turner Park, there is a consistent $25 increase for non-residents in addition to the stated resident fees.
Wait List Process A wait list is formed when a class reaches participant levels beyond the maximum. The wait list is designed to maintain interested people in a holding area until more spaces in the program are available, someone drops out, transfers, or a new section is added by park district staff based on interest. The wait list is maintained based on the order we process registrations. Customers will be contacted for confirmation before being added to one of our wait lists (or transferred from a wait list into the desired program) by the front desk or specific program supervisor. Please note: before a participant is transferred into a program all corresponding paperwork and payments are required.
What If I Have A Special Need? Participants who require special assistance during park district programs should note their needs on the registration form and call (630) 894-4200 to notify the park district. The Western Dupage Special Recreation Association may be contacted at (630) 681-0962 for additional services. Please note: there is a box to check on our program registration form to alert our Front Desk Attendants and Recreation Supervisors that these services are desired for any given program.
The Roselle Park District does not provide medical coverage for injuries suffered while participating in park district programs, or while using park facilities. The Park District, therefore, cannot assume responsibility for personal injury for persons participating in a recreation program or using facilities. Patrons are advised to make provisions for this coverage in their own personal insurance program.
Refund Policy The Roselle Park District endorses a customer satisfaction policy and strives to provide high quality programs, services, and facilities. However, sometimes expectation levels or situations occur that do not meet the satisfaction of our customers and a refund request is made. In order to be considered for a class/program refund we ask that you fill out the online Refund Request form located at rparks.org under the Registration tab. Questions call (630) 894-4200.
