PROJECT 1

Joineries Study (Weekly connectors & joineries sketches) We are tasked to draw 5 objects from our observation every week. Each sketch must concentrate on how the connections move and are assembled. Labeling of materials and important components should be included in drawings. The primary goal is to comprehend how daily objects are manufactured or produced, as well as how movement in joints and connections is generated.

PROJECT 2 Furniture & Mass Production

My partner and me are tasked to design panel-based furniture for a local manufacturing factory in this industry collaboration project. Materials, budgeting and the capability of the factory's machinery must all be taken into consideration when designing the furniture. This second project will be based on the student’s understanding of design project management, production management and carpentry fabrication methods.

REFLECTION In my imagination, this subject teaches us how to design a chair, or perhaps a table. But it subverted my imagination. From Project 1, I learned the joineries and material of the surrounding items. In Project 2, I started to learn to collaborate and learn to create a furniture with my partner. From Project 3, furniture design that seemed are not what we think of "furniture design", but it actually was developing our imagination and mockup skills. I think this is not only a normal furniture design, but it also teaches us to think about things from multiple aspects in designing something , not to stick to those traditional ideas. In addition, I never thought how good my hand sketch is, and I don't have much enthusiasm for hand sketch. But from this subject I found the meaning of hand sketch. hand sketch with goals and ideas is truly meaningful hand sketch and it is a "compass" for our passion.
