There will be a regular youth classroom course March 3-5, and an adult online “field day” course on March 5. Starting in 2017, the purchase of a Montana bow and arrow license will be required prior to applying for any archery-only permit. To purchase a bow and arrow license, an individual must meet one of the following requirements: • show completion of a bowhunter education course • show proof of purchase of a previous year’s bow and arrow license from Montana or another state • sign an affidavit that they have previously purchased a bow and arrow license in Montana or another state. First time archers need to plan ahead so they have the prerequisite bow hunter education certificate in order to apply for 2017 archery only drawings. The first drawing deadline is March 15 each year. For the adult online field course, adults must pass the online bow hunter education course and receive a Field Day Qualifier Certificate. This Field Day Qualifier Certificate and a picture ID are necessary to obtain entrance into the field course. The adult field course will be held from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, beginning at the Quonset building at the FWP Headquarters in Glasgow. The youth classroom course will also be held in the Quonset building at the FWP headquarters in Glasgow. Classes will run from 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, and from 8-11 a.m. on Saturday. All registrants for the classroom course must be 11 years of age by March 3. To hunt during the archery only season, youth need to be at least 12-years old by January 16, 2018. Classroom students need to pick up the “Today’s Bow Hunter” manual from the FWP office in Glasgow. Before students can pick up a manual, however, they must be registered and have printed and signed all necessary forms. Students are to read each chapter and complete all chapter review exercises before class on Friday, March 3. If workbooks are not complete, students may not be able to continue the course. To register and learn more about the bow hunter education classes offered, please go to FWP website at www.fwp.mt.gov and look under the “Education” tab. For questions, please call the Glasgow FWP office at 228-3700.

DAVE SAYS: Who Is Dave Ramsey? Dave Ramsey is a personal money management expert, popular national radio personality and the author of three New York Times bestsellers – The Total Money Makeover, Financial Peace Revisited and More Than Enough. In them, Ramsey exemplifies his life’s work of teaching others how to be financially responsible, so they can acquire enough wealth to take care of loved ones, live prosperously into old age, and give generously to others.
DEAR DAVE,
I’m a small-business owner with a lawn care franchise. It’s common in our industry, after the season is over, to send out pre-pay letters for the upcoming season. If we send out these letters offering a five or 10 percent discount for early payment on next year’s services, is that too similar to borrowing money from our customers at five to 10 percent? ~Kevin
Dear Kevin, Not at all. I definitely would send pre-pay letters. It takes some of the seasonality “ouch” out of your financial equation, and it gives them the opportunity to take advantage of a bargain. It’s not a bad plan from a marketing standpoint for your business, either. You might even be able to add some new customers with an offer like this. You obviously have to be really secure and confident in your ability to provide the service. Otherwise, you could end up in a really bad situation. Your equipment, staffing and track record in the business will all come into play. But if all this is strong, and you’ve been in the business for a number of years and plan on staying in the business for years to come, then this is something I’d definitely do. ~Dave DEAR DAVE,
I’m 29, and I have no debt. I’ve gotten a good start on my savings and retirement, too. My girlfriend and I plan to get married in the next couple of years, and she has about $90,000 in debt. I’m not paying on her debt yet, but I think together we can save up enough to pay it off by the time we’re married. Should I temporarily slow down saving for a house and start saving toward paying off her debt? ~James
Dear James, Yes, I would have a “girlfriend debt” account. That way when she becomes your wife, you two can write a check the moment you get back from the honeymoon and be debt-free — or at least knock out a huge portion of the debt. After that, the two of you — as in WE — resume saving for retirement, a house and so on. That, James, is exactly what I would do. You’re right in line with my thinking on this, brother. Best of luck to you both! ~Dave
* Dave Ramsey is America’s trusted voice on money and business, and CEO of Ramsey Solutions. He has authored seven bestselling books, including The Total Money Makeover. The Dave Ramsey Show is heard by more than 12 million listeners each week on 575 radio stations and multiple digital platforms. Follow Dave on the web at daveramsey.com and on Twitter at @ DaveRamsey.

tWiN BeDs An older couple was asking for a room with a king, queen or double bed. The clerk apologized and said that the only rooms available had twin beds. Disappointed, the man remarked, "I don't know. We've been sharing the same bed for 44 years." asked.

Ramblings of a Conservative Cow Doctor by Krayton Kerns, DVM, former State Rep. HD 58
Hysterical Screams
As a Christian, conservative grandfather I fear my granddaughter, Cora, could be a progressive and here is why. The trophy wife and I have been empty nesters since 2006, so are accustomed to quiet, winter evenings at home. Our sedate schedule was altered this past weekend when 12 of our grandchildren bunked with us. Because of a friend’s wedding, the nine mini-Kimmels traveled from Great Falls and were joined by the three mini-Kerns from Wyoming. All the cousins had a fabulous time because apparently, the louder you scream the more glorious the event. Wall to wall grandchildren can be unnerving to the unconditioned and I have found a couple Amber Ales from the High Plains Tap Room keeps me properly conditioned. Being a grandfather of 16 is not for teetotalers, nor the faint of heart. For unknown reasons, the youngest half of the mini-Kimmel branch are habitual screamers. It is not a manipulative behavior because neither parent ever caves to demands amplified by hollering. Sunday morning Cora, the four-yearold, was splashing around the hot tub with her chlorinated cousins and siblings when someone snatched the swim goggles from her face. She shrieked in a manner typically reserved for open femoral fractures. Since I could see no blood in the water, or bones sticking through the skin, I ignored her and this brings me to my point. Progressives also scream for theatrics; something displayed daily since they lost the power of the presidency. The left’s reaction to President Trump’s recent executive order re-examining immigration procedures for citizens from seven, known terrorist countries pegs the senseless-scream meter. A responsible mainstream media would hold such childish behavior in contempt were they not kicking, screaming and casting themselves on the floor alongside the progressives. We are barely two weeks into the Trump presidency and can look forward to this type of insanity every day, on every issue, for the next four years. President Trump’s nomination of Judge Gorsuch to the Supreme Court is the latest scream inducer and even though the Senate had confirmed him to the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals without objection, leftists pound the wall in protest. Progressivism is evil and with their dismal pie-in-the-sky ideology hemorrhaging support in the hinterlands, they throw a tantrum hoping to wear you down. It worked before. Thank God we have an adult in the White House who understands caving to the screamers only encourages them. Liberty dictates all patriots must hold firm.
