NONE OF US IS AS SMART AS ALL OF US Isn’t it usually easier to solve someone else’s problem rather than your own? It’s easier because you are more objective and haven’t invested the blood, sweat, money and tears into their situation. Making it even easier to be an armchair quarterback, you don’t have to implement any of your brilliant solutions…. they do. Just as you often see your neighbor’s opportunities more clearly than they do, they see yours too. This is why it is so important for a business to have an outside board of advisors. Sometimes what they have to say isn’t easy to take. We tend to defend our past decisions; after all, they don’t know the whole story. But advisors don’t need to know the whole story. Where you’ve been isn’t as important as where you are going and that’s where their focus should pull you, getting you to think about what you want and how you will get there. Even though your neighbor may see opportunities you don’t, it probably isn’t a good idea that they sit on your board. In Executive Link we purposely make the boards as geographically diverse as we can. Businesses on a new Executive Link board that will be meeting next month in Colorado include ranch businesses from Southern Alberta to South Texas and enterprises that include commercial cow-calf, seed stock, hunting, grass finished beef and lamb and direct marketing. What seems impossible in one environment and enterprise mix is standard operating procedure for another. The synergy possible when we have this level of diversity is where breakthroughs are born. Our natural tendency is to avoid diversity. We tend to associate with people who think like we do. But just as diversity increases health and stability of an ecosystem, diversity also increases the power of a team. If everyone thinks the same thing, then no one may be thinking very much and only one of us is necessary. Whether through our Executive Link program or organizing your own team, periodic review from people who are objective and have diverse perspectives will lead to better decisions and a stronger business. With that in mind, we have created a Ranching For Profit Blog in which we can debate and discuss the issues and observations I raise in ProfitTips. I invite you to respond to these articles with your reactions and questions and to share your experience. I am looking forward to using this blog to generate rich and stimulating discussions from which we will all benefit. After all, none of us is as smart as all of us. If you have enjoyed our post, please follow and like us and be sure to share us with your friends. Source: Ranching For Profit - Dave Pratt

THANKSGIVING WEEKEND: 7 TIPS FOR SPENDING LESS MONEY AND MORE TIME TOGETHER
There’s just nothing quite like Thanksgiving weekend: a morning prepping turkey and learning Grandma’s famous roll recipe, parades and football on the TV, dinner that tastes of nostalgia, long afternoon naps and . . . mad dashes to the mall. In between eating and shopping, we’re sharing moments with family as we gather for what may be the first time in months. And better yet, we know Thanksgiving is just the start of the exciting season to come complete with gift-giving and more food! It’s no wonder we shell out the big bucks for our time together, right? Unless you wake up from your turkey-induced coma with loads of regret from all the sales you indulged in at the mall. This year try something a little different: Enjoy spending more time with one another while spending less money. We’ll help you! Check out our tips below. 1. Prioritize your holiday plans. Think beyond Thanksgiving for a moment. Write out all the things you’d like to do between now and the new year. Include travel, gifts, dinners and parties. Take some time to rank your holiday wish list and be sure your budget reflects your decisions. For instance, you may stay home for Thanksgiving so Santa has the cash to do his thing. Or maybe you’ll choose to trim your Christmas gift budget and spend that money on a Thanksgiving trip to see family or friends. 2. Make a budget and check it twice. Don’t you know that Santa works year-round? So should your budget. Now that your holiday priorities are in order you can budget appropriately for the coming season. Before you head out the door to grab a few groceries or to snag some good deals, sneak a quick look at your budget. Confirm that what you’re buying fits the budget so you can shop with confidence. 3. Keep things simple. Sometimes in our Pinterest and Instagram world, it’s easy to forget what Thanksgiving is all about: being thankful. And if we’re honest with ourselves, we all know that people are what really make our lives rich. With this is mind, think about simplifying these two things so you have more time to spend with the people you love: • Decorations. Encourage your kids to trace their hands to make paper turkeys for a fun garland. Go outside and gather pinecones from the backyard for a pretty centerpiece. Or stretch a roll of butcher paper across the table with prompts like “I’m thankful for . . .” Place a bunch of markers or crayons on the table for your guests to grab. • Dinner. Swap expensive cast iron pots and fancy china for disposable plates and pans (bonus: easy cleanup!). Focus on a few key dishes like the turkey or a ham, two of your favorite sides and one dessert, but leave the rest of your ideas for another time. According to Farm Bureau, by sticking to the basics you can feed 10 people a complete Thanksgiving dinner for around $50. 4. Accept invitations from others. Did you get an invitation to join family or friends at someone else’s place for Thanksgiving? Take them up on the offer! While it’s fun to host (and you should certainly open your home if you want to), it’s just as fun to be a guest. Show your gratitude by offering to bring a dish and helping with cleanup after dinner. You’ll save money and make a friend for life! 5. Volunteer your time. Call us crazy, but there’s really no better way to build your savings over the Thanksgiving weekend than to skip your own dinner and provide one for someone else in need. Contact a local soup kitchen or homeless shelter and ask how you can be of service. You might just find that this is your new favorite tradition. Plus, you can invite your friends and family along! 6. Be a smart shopper. Surveys suggest the average person will drop $743 between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Talk about an expensive weekend! We’re okay with this number as long as you’re getting good deals, buying stuff you already planned to buy, and keeping all of your spending in line with your budget. Stay on track by researching sales and making a specific shopping list before heading to the store or sitting down at your computer. 7. Give yourself margin. We all enjoy the holidays more when they’re not crammed with activities and stress! Less really does give us more. As you approach the start of this busy season look for opportunities to slow down. Build space into your day and into your budget. Allow yourself a little breathing room, so you have the chance to take in and appreciate the joy that’s happening around you!

Chaos
A doctor, a civil engineer, and a computer scientist were sitting around late one evening, and they got to discussing which was the oldest profession. The doctor pointed out that according to biblical tradition, God created Eve from Adam's rib. This obviously required surgery, so therefore that was the oldest profession in the world. The engineer countered with an earlier passage in the Bible that stated that God created order from the chaos, and that was most certainly the biggest and best civil engineering example ever, and also proved that his profession was the oldest profession. The computer scientist leaned back in her chair, and with a sly smile responded, "Yes, but who do you think created the chaos?" 2000 Country Club Road * Turner, MT 59542 Phone 800-756-1817 Email: office@triciastrader.com www.TriciasTrader.com FAX: 888-796-8498

WINTER BUILD SALE
Enjoying Everyday Life Joyce Meyer
Simple Steps to a Healthy, Whole Soul For many years, I was really messed up in my soul because of terrible things that had happened to me. Many days I felt miserable, like I was down in a pit, mentally and emotionally. I would just sit and mull over all the things in my life that weren’t fair…all the people who had hurt me. It was a place of bitterness, unforgiveness, anger, and self-pity. I believe many people have some kind of pit in their lives. The pain of injustice and abuse they’ve suffered has left them filled with the same destructive attitudes I once lived with much of the time. But God showed me in His Word that He wanted to lift me out of the pit and heal my wounded soul. He wanted to take away the shame and guilt from the past and restore me, making me even better than I was before it all happened. Isaiah 61:7 (AMP) says: “Instead of your [former] shame you will have a double portion; and instead of humiliation your people will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore in their land they will possess double [what they had forfeited]; everlasting joy will be theirs.” God wanted to give me double for my trouble! And His promise filled me with a determination to do whatever I had to do to let Him heal me from the inside out and restore everything that had been stolen from me. The process took time and it wasn’t easy, but I discovered that if we will trust God and refuse to park at the point of our pain, we can get victory over the pain we’ve experienced. We can become better, rather than remain bitter. We can be “more than conquerors and gain an overwhelming victory through Him who loved us [so much that He died for us]” (Romans 8:37). Steps in the Process There are several steps I had to take with God to experience freedom from my past. As I studied God’s Word and pursued a personal relationship with Him in prayer, He revealed truths that literally transformed my life. I want to share a few of them with you. You must receive God’s unconditional, perfect love for you. God’s love is the greatest gift we can ever receive! But we have to understand that we must freely receive it, because we can’t earn it or do enough good things to deserve it. God IS love – it’s who He is and what He does. And there’s nothing we can do to keep Him from loving us. But we have to believe He loves us and choose to receive it if we want to experience it. I love the apostle Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians, where he says he wants them “to know [practically, through personal experience] the love of Christ which far surpasses [mere] knowledge [without experience]…” (Ephesians 3:19). If you need a deeper revelation of God’s love for you, I encourage you to pray this scripture over and over every day until you get it. Because knowing God loves you unconditionally is the first step to living with confidence in who you are in Christ. Receive God’s forgiveness…and forgive yourself. When you pray for God to forgive your sins and then receive His forgiveness, that means you sincerely repent and let go of them. You also let go of the guilt, shame and condemnation caused by them, and pursue godly wisdom to make better choices. Doing this gives you the ability to forgive yourself and move on. You don’t sit around, thinking about everything you’ve done wrong. Instead, you thank God for His love and forgiveness, and take another step in the right direction. Don’t park at the point of your pain! Forgive everyone who has hurt you. As I’ve traveled around the world, speaking at conferences and teaching God’s Word, I’ve encountered many Christians who are angry and hurting because they refuse to forgive the people who have mistreated them. I know from personal experience how hard it can be to completely forgive someone who has hurt you; it wasn’t easy forgiving my father for sexually abusing me for almost 15 years. But when I realized that refusing to forgive was poisoning my soul and keeping me imprisoned in bitterness and self-pity, I made a decision to forgive him – by God’s grace. God tells us in His Word to pray for our enemies…to bless them, not curse them…to completely forgive them. Don’t stay mad at people and live with anger; that only hurts you, not them. Get over self-pity. This requires determination to renew your mind with God’s Word and refuse to constantly think about the wrong things that have been done to you. But I promise that if you will put your trust in God and meditate on the truth of Scripture, you’ll eventually find you don’t want to focus on negative, critical, judgmental thoughts about others. Instead, you’ll enjoy genuine peace of mind, knowing God loves you, He’s forgiven you of your sin, and He wants to put His love in your heart for others. He wants you to share your testimony with people who are hurting and hopeless, so they can be healed too. ********* For more on this topic, order Joyce’s four-CD series Sit, Stand, Walk, Run. PERFECT WINE PARINGS FOR HOLIDAY PARTIES (Family Features) With the holidays quickly approaching it is time to begin planning menus and shopping for groceries, which may leave you facing endless shelves of wine Choosing wines to pair with your holiday meal is an important part of the menu planning process. A smart rule is to select quality wines that pair with a variety of dishes, such as crisp, medium-bodied chardonnays and medium-to-full-bodied, flavorful merlots. "I love having a bright, crisp chardonnay on hand for holiday entertaining," said Katie Madigan, winemaker at St. Francis Winery. "Chardonnay complements so many holiday flavors. It's a great choice to serve with appetizers and it also transitions nicely to dinner." A certified sustainable winery in Sonoma County, California, St. Francis Winery offers a full range of varietal wines ideal for holiday entertaining, such as the St. Francis Sonoma County Chardonnay 2015 (SRP $16.99), which is made from grapes picked in the cool of night to create delicate aromas, crisp acidity and a rich, lingering finish. With notes of fresh pear and pineapple, it pairs well with mild cheeses and rich seafood appetizers, such as Pan Fried Crab Cakes. If you are looking for inspiration to get your holiday menu planning started, consider this simple hors d'oeuvre, which can be made the night before and cooked just before guests arrive. Pair it with a chilled glass of crisp chardonnay to start the party off just right. A Complementary option for guests who prefer red wine is the Sonoma Valley Merlot (SRP $20.99). This wine has multiple layers of aromatics with flavors of red cherry, plum, dried cranberry, espresso bean and savory spices that match well with hard cheeses, roasted turkey, lamb or steaks with blue cheese butter. In my early years, I was employed at a veterinary practice which was suffering management turmoil. While elk hunting in November of 1988, my fireside chats with my buddies focused on adjustments I should make once back at work. However, my smoke-seasoned plans were soon rendered meaningless after all staff veterinarians were offered a 30 percent pay cut to keep our jobs. I was married with three little ones, had a mortgage, was unemployed for the first time, yet felt an enormous sense of relief. Apparently, I wasn’t picking up what God was putting down, so He shoved me. In 45 days, I secured a building, staff, equipment and inventory and began chasing the American dream. The first year of a start-up business is not all sugar plums and lollipops and there is a fine line between being self-employed and unemployed. During the cold winter days when folks weren’t riding their horses through the wire or running over their blue heeler with the feed truck, I wondered exactly which side of the line I occupied. Over the years, I tolerated the slow seasons by capitalizing on the busy ones. God has blessed me with both and this brings me to my point. In 2014, a Pew study showed sixty percent of citizens felt the American dream was unachievable. This is predictable, because since garnering power in 2008, President Obama cultivated misery by claiming the success of the little people originates entirely from the generosity of the ruling class. This incessant progressive dogma eventually squelches ambition, risk, dedication and ingenuity with hopelessness eventually infecting our great experiment in freedom. However, Pew discovered 82 percent of today’s respondents either have achieved, or are achieving the American dream. What a flip. Just as with Ronald Reagan following the Carter years, Donald Trump’s Make America Great Again agenda is stimulating an American economic explosion due to rampant optimism in the producing class. The Democrats, the never-Trump Republicans, the media and the Washington bureaucratic cartel fear their ruling kingdom is withering before their eyes. Let’s hope so. Today, even though optimism has replaced pessimism, the heavily indoctrinated millennials are still choosing free stuff over freedom. A Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation study shows 44 percent of millennials prefer socialism over capitalism. Attention millennials: If you continue to swallow the progressive lie of dependency, you will be on your knees and begging your entire life. Liberty and free-market capitalism leads to the American dream, so you best chase it now rather than waiting for God to shove you.

Wheat managed to rally over the last week, led by the surging Minneapolis spring wheat. Expectations that USDA will decrease spring wheat harvested acres removed some of the negative attitude in the wheat complex. Also supporting spring wheat are reports from South America that both Brazil and Argentina are finding lower quality wheat in their harvests. Corn was unchanged as harvest pressure subsides and export demand has improved. Soybean were higher on expectations of increased export demand, particularly from China with a potential new trade deal, and on continued concerns about weather as the growing season progresses in South America. The cattle complex saw a pullback after sharply higher prices over the last two weeks. Cash markets stabilized last week, and that has led to profit taking in the live and feeder cattle markets. Beef consumption has held well through the fall and the recent strong cash performance is supporting the perception that demand will perform well throughout the holidays. Energy prices have rallied on fears of geo-political issues within Saudi Arabia. US stocks have continued to punch new highs, keeping the bullish enthusiasm alive on positive economic reports.
