n spite of all precautions, the death toll of Leptospirosis reached fifteen. The test results confirmed that three more victims fell prey to the deadly leptospirosis in the last few days, meaning that the death toll reached 15, with only ten days having elapsed in July in the city. The first was a 43-year female resident of Kurar Village, Malad. She was admitted on 28th June and succumbed to death on 9th July, the second deceased lived at Reay Road. And the third hailed from Kokanipada HP, Dahisar. Civic officials are expecting the cases will continue to grow in the next few days. The victims passed away within a day of admission at civic-run hospitals. State confers ‘Freedom Fighter’ status to 52 people from Beed in a single day: RTI By Philip Varghese

he state government, it seems has thrown caution to the winds, with even the Chief Minister ignoring better sense. This can be simply understood by the Fadnavis government's decision to confer 'Freedom Fighter' status to 88 people of which 52 are from Beed district being conferred it in a single day. RTI activist Anil Galgali, who had sought information from the government on the status of the 'Freedom Fighters Pension' issues gives the other information. According to Galgali, “This decision is based on treating various Attachment Warrants issued to those persons, as proof of participation in the freedom struggle. This is in complete contravention to the action of the previous government which had constituted Justice Palkar Commission on
recommendation of Supreme Court. The Palkar Commission had rejected the claims of Beed district's 298 claimants for the Freedom Fighter status on the basis of similar Attachment Warrants.
