rime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday appealed to friends and well-wishers not to celebrate his birthday and instead dedicate time and resources towards relief work in this hour of need for floodravaged Jammu & Kashmir.
Modi's appeal came amid plans to celebrate his birthday on September 17 across the country, including in Gujarat where he will be present that day, reports PTI. "I am hearing from different places that friends & well-wishers are planning various pro-

he Thane police have arrested six men from Jammu for possession of illegal arms. After receiving a tip-off from an informer about weapons coming into the city and being hidden in some slums, the Kasarwadawli police raided a hutment in Tukali village and arrested the six people. On interrogation by the police, the accused said that they ran a security agency named Maharashtra Rajya Security Agency and had brought the weapons from Jammu to be circulated to their security guards. But the
police found that no such agency exists in any records, nor do the accused have a licence for the weapons. The smuggling of weapons has been going on for the last three months. The seized weapons were smuggled into the city about 15 days ago. One of the accused, identified as Mazahar Khan (21), had brought the weapons into the city from Kashmir. The supplier of the weapons, identified as Gulzar Khan, is still at large. The six accused have been in the city since the last three months and now have nowhere to go as their homes have been washed away in the recent floods. The
