espite the government prohibiting the removal of sand from embankments of water bodies, the Navi Mumbai sand mafia continues to blatantly use machines to extract and steal sand in Kharghar and the Ganeshpuri area near the Mansarovar Railway Bridge. In fact, more than a hundred trucks per day are illegally loaded and sold in the open market mainly to builders and construction companies.
