Disabled man held for coercing minors into prostitution after luring them with promises of a good life and raping them

T
he Vakola police are claiming to have busted a human trafficking racket with the arrest of a 49year-old disabled man from his residence at Gajdharband locality in Santacruz (W). The man was allegedly luring minor girls on the promise of providing them with a good lifestyle and was then pushing them into prostitution. He was reportedly running his racket from localities in Kandivli, Vakola, Santacruz and Virar. Around 10 girls have gone missing from the Vakola police station jurisdiction in the last six month and the police are still busy with the investigations in these cases. In a recent incident, a 16 year-old girl went missing on July 7 after she left her home to collect her SSC result from the Public High School in Vakola. When she did not return even on the next day, her parents filed a missing complaint at the local police station. The police report that the girl was lured into a life of prostitution by the man.
