Ishrat’s encounter was fake: CBI charge sheet

Many-a-times there occurs friction between family members. This is mainly because of the positioning of the gas stove/cooking range and sink. While the gas stove represents ‘fire’, the sink stands for ‘water’. If fire element and water element are wrongly placed, relations in a family are affected. xpressing happiness over the CBI’s charge sheet which held that Ishrat Jahan was killed in a ‘fake’ encounter in 2004 in Gujarat, her family members today alleged Chief Minister Narendra Modi was also part of the conspiracy and he should not be spared. Rauf Lala, a relative of the slain Ishrat Jahan, claimed, “Intelligence Bureau’s information is usually briefed to the state’s Chief Minister on a daily basis. And Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was aware of the facts surrounding Ishrat through IB. Still she was killed in the fake encounter. Modi was part of the conspiracy hatched to murder Ishrat. He should not be spared and we hope, in the supplementary charge sheet, Modi and others’ names would also appear.” The charge sheet that the fake encounter was a joint operation between Gujarat police and the Intelligence Bureau. Ishrat’s mother stated she was happy with the CBI’s report that her daughter was killed in a fake encounter. “I have been repeatedly saying for the past nine years that my daughter was innocent and falsely implicated. Because of some policemen and politicians, we had to face these problems. The names of the accused, who executed the murder, have not appeared in the charge sheet. I am hopeful that those who hatched conspiracy would also be severely punished,” said Shamima Kauser as tears rolled in her eyes. Ishrat’s sister Mushrat recalled, “My sister was in BSc second year when she was killed and she was the only breadwinner in the house after their father was died in 2002.”

Ishrat’s mother along with relatives speaking to mediapersons at a press conference, in the city, yesterday. “We had to go through a lot of problems after Ishrat’s death. It has now been proved by the CBI that Ishrat was killed in fake encounter. Because of the blot on our family, our sisters could not get married and our brother did not get any job,” added Mushrat. “I pray to God that no other family should face such problems we had faced,” Mushrat added. Responding to a query if she suspected Modi’s role in the murder, Mushrat replied, “My sister was killed on allegations that she went to mur-

der Narendra Modi. Hence in my sister’s murder, I suspect Modi’s involvement.” Rauf Lala expressed a hope that IB special director Rajendra Kumar’s name would also appear in the supplementary charge sheet. MLA Jitendra Avhad, who has been instrumental in helping out the Ishrat Jahan’s family legally as well as financially, stated that the family would meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh requesting him to ensure transparent investigation in the case. Avhad also termed Modi as one of the conspirators in the murder.

Movies and makeovers over everything else!

A GLOBAL survey of over 10,000 travelers conducted by global travel search site Skyscanner has revealed that the complimentary feature most of them wanted at an airport is a cinema. An astounding 49% of the respondents voted for the silver screen over other services or amenities of convenience that they wished for whilst at an airport. And we thought that Mumbai, with its Bollywood hangup was bad! Getting a quick nap also scored highly with over a third of the respondents voting for sleep pods, a feature that Abu Dhabi Airport unveiled last month which, at UAE Dirham 45 per hour (approximately INR 700), provides an affordable alternative to a hotel room. Voted in third place is an airport library (which is z bit of a surprise) allowing travelers to borrow their holiday reading, showing that despite the rise of e-books the traditional paperback is still a popular choice. Outdoor space at the airport is also a highly desired feature with a park area voted the fourth most wanted feature and a man-made beach taking the ninth spot. Incidentally, the other things on their list include Karaoke with 5% of travelers hankering for their 15 minutes of fame at the airport, while a gym was a popular choice with 15% of respondents. The top 10 most wanted features are cinema – 49%, sleep pod – 36%, library – 32%, park – 31%, vanity area – 30%, kids play area – 21%, pool – 20%, gym – 15%, manmade beach – 12%, and bikes – 11%. The agitation was organized on Wednesday, under the aegis of Jai Hind Young Social Committee at the Urdu Medium School in Kuari village, Virar (east). Carrying placards against the district authorities, the boys in a semi-nude (without shirts) condition and with their mouth bound by black bands, staged the agitation in the school premises. round 15,000 traders who have been operating their businesses in Navi Mumbai are under the Cess Department scanner of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), after the state government gave the final nod to collect taxes from industrialists in the MIDC area. At present, city industrialists owe the NMMC almost Rs. 300 crore in taxes.

The state government on June 28 passed an order stating that there is no provision in the law for it to interfere with the taxation system of a civic body, and the civic body is competent enough to recover the tax and implement the development policy that has been chalked out. Earlier, industrialists had approached the government claiming that the municipal corporation was not authorised to collect taxes from industrial belts.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Sudhir Cheke, said , “The NMMC will now set up efforts to collect pending dues from the industrialists. We will be taking steps like attaching bank accounts and property to recover the dues.” Cheke has also appealed to industrialists to clear all dues as soon as possible. Industrialists in the MIDC area and NMMC have been in legal battles over the collection of taxes for last 12 years.

Tax payers allege neglect Industrialists allege that the civic body treats the industrial-belt in a step-motherly way. Those who are paying their taxes regularly allege that of the major revenue earned from the MIDC area, the NMMC shares a fraction with them. “What we are getting in return is broken streetlights, potholed roads and choked drainage throughout the year,” said an industrialist.

6,000 FILES MISSING Continued from pg 1 « there should be an impartial inquiry through a central agency. The municipal commissioner admitted that at least 6,000 files of prime properties from Bandra to Andheri area are missing from the Building Proposal department, also known as BP department. It is being claimed that most of the files pertain to particular builders who are reportedly close to either politicians or civic officials. The BP department is seen as one of the most lucrative departments in the engineering cadre of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and engineers are willing to pay huge bribes to get postings there. According to standing committee members, the administration has been under-quoting the number of missing files, and while it is talking of only BP depart-

BJP councilor Manoj Kotak commented, “How can files go missing from the Municipal Commissioner and Additional Municipal Commissioner’s office?”

Lakshmi is fine, Mr Bachchan! Continued from pg 1 « Bachchan’s recent tweet on Lakshmi’s alleged ill health hasn’t gone down well with RAWW and Rajzu as, according to them, this is not only misleading people with wrong information but also paving the way for NGOs and individuals to make money using Lakshmi as a cause. “His (Amitabh Bachchan) intentions are not being doubted but his tweet is doing more harm than good. Who says Lakshmi is ill? Yes, she is obese but so are a lot of human beings in the city. Her diet needs to be monitored and that is being done. Other than this, she doesn’t require any immediate medical help. She is not ailing. She is perfectly alright. She can swim if put in water,” said Rajzu. To allay doubts about the elephant’s health, RAWW got a blood test done for Lakshmi and the reports say that eighteen-year-old pachyderm is fine. “After reading so many reports that Laksmi is ailing, we decided to conduct a blood test so that we have medical proof about her health. The doctors say that she is alright,” said Pawan

Sharma, founder president, RAWW, which plans to monitor Lakshmi’s health on a regular basis. “Lakshmi’s reports have been sent for a second opinion but I see her reports as normal. She is definitely obese but that can be taken care of by monitoring her diet. Her creatinine and uric acid levels are slightly high but that is because she has not been drinking enough water and that too can be taken care of. In short, there is nothing seriously wrong with her. She doesn’t require immediate medical attention. There is no cause for concern with regards to her health,” said a doctor who looked at Lakshmi’s reports but wished to remain anonymous. “Amitabh Bachchan is like a demi-god. His statements and tweets are taken seriously by people. These are being reposted and used as a means to make money. People will start appealing for donations when there is no need for any. This is not right,” said Rajzu, who plans to send Lakshmi’s medical report to Amitabh Bachchan so that he knows that Lakshmi is in good health. shwetha.kannan@afternoondc.in

Some unidentified miscreants robbed the shop of Rs.20,000 two months ago. Police sources from Bangur Nagar Police station revealed that around two months ago two robbers had targeted the shop, but one was caught by public red-handed.

ating in a private hospital at Andheri. According to Senior Police Inspector (SPI) Naseer Pathan from Oshiwara police station, Yadav said that on Tuesday night he was returning from a garage situated in Sadhana estate in Oshiwara, when two bike borne men fired four rounds at him. One bullet hit him in the leg, while the other hit him below the waist. The attackers fled from the spot. Hearing Yadav scream, people gathered and rushed him to Cooper Hospital. The police was informed about the incident. “In his statement, Yadav said that he believes the attack took place as a result of a property dispute between

himself and one Ghanshyam Chaturvedi. We are questioning seven to eight people and also have called Chaturvedi and his brother in for questioning,” said Pathan. “Yadav owns some property in Sadhana estate and has given it on rent to the proprietor of a garage,” sources said. In March, Chaturvedi had lodged a complaint with the Oshiwara police station against Yadav for trespassing on the property. Following the complaint the cops arrested Yadav but released him on bail later. “We are verifying the veracity of the allegations and are looking into the property dispute between Yadav and Chaturvedi,” said Pathan.

hree painting labourers, on Tuesday, killed a housewife who was threemonths pregnant, after getting the idea from a TV serial based on real crime stories. Two of the three accused, Abul Khan (26) and Mohammed Shamim (18), were arrested by police within 12 hours of the crime, while Robin Anthony (28) is absconding. The three had worked at the victim, Khushboo Mehta’s (24) home three years' ago when she had just moved into a rented flat in Manjura Place in Adharwadi Kalyan, after her marriage to Prakash Mehta, who works as a manager in a jewellery shop. A fortnight ago, after

watching a crime show about robbery, the three started searching for a target, and decided to visit Khushboo’s home. They reminded her about having worked at her home three years ago and told her they were now providing free service to their old customers, to which she agreed. On Monday, they came and did some work and left. On Tuesday, when they landed up to supposedly complete the job, they asked her for water to drink. When she went to the kitchen, they followed her and strangulated her with a nylon rope. They then fled with some ornaments and cash. When, in the evening, her husband tried to contact her on her mobile and she did-

he US Consulate General Mumbai threw an American Mela to celebrate the 237th year of US Independence on Wednesday night at the Shangri-La Hotel in Lower Parel. Among the highlights, the US Marines marched a salute as both the Indian as well as American National anthem was played by the live band, which also played country music on the occasion. The Indian staffers of the Consulate conducted a flash mob dance, surprising the guests present at the occasion. "Tonight we are bringing a slice of America to Mumbai. We are celebrating our Independence Day, the way I did as a kid, with games, fun, food and friends -- just like a typical Indian mela, but with red, white and blue," said US Consul General Peter Haas. Food pavilions offered classic American fares such as apple pie, corn dogs, sliders, barbeque chicken and iced tea from food stalls of variety of American restaurants such as Subway, Starbucks, Hardrock Cafe, California Pizza Kitchen, Sbarro Pizza, etc.

the lookout for him since Friday morning. He will be booked under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and we will take him into our custody after producing him before the judicial court,” said Srikant Pathak, deputy commissioner of police (crime), Navi Mumbai. According to Pathak, Lahmane, a resident of Mulund, does various odd jobs to earn his livelihood. “According our sources he doesn't have any criminal record, but we’ll be certain only once we interrogate him on our own. Prima facie some members from Chota Shakeel gang gave Lahmane the factory made

pistol and he handed it over to JD when the latter was being taken to court in Mumbai. We are not sure if Lahmane took 'supari' (contract killing) for the task,” he said. Pathak confirmed that they interrogated JD’s wife as she was also among the four persons JD who met in court on June 27. “We suspected his wife be involved in the crime, but released after interrogating her.” Abu Salem however, believes that gangster Chota Rajan and Mustafa Dossa were the planners of the attack. “Given the previous attack on Salem in Arthur Road jail hatched by Dossa in 2010,

Salem suspects that Rajan and Dossa were the men behind this attack as well. But we have not found any evidence to confirm his suspicions so far,” said Fateh Singh Patil, additional commissioner of police, Navi Mumbai. JD was one of the accused in the murder of lawyer Shahid Azmi on February 11, 2010 and was arrested five days after the murder. The Navi Mumbai police produced him before the judicial court on Monday evening and he has been remanded to police custody till July 6. amit.srivastav@afternoondc.in

Ponder awhile… “Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one’s definition of your life; define yourself.” — Harvey Fierstein

AST Monday I spent a day with Vasundhara Raje on her ‘yatra’ through Rajasthan. It began in April and she has already covered a distance of more than 8000 kilometres in her ‘rath’ in earlier phases. But, before writing another word I feel bound to disclose that Vasundhara is an old friend of mine. If you think that because of this my account of her travels cannot be trusted, please do not hesitate to stop reading now. If you want details of how far this friendship goes back, trot off to your nearest book shop and buy my latest book “Durbar” in which you will find the whole story and more. still bound by primitive rules of honour and marriage that oblige little girls to live adult lives because of child marriage being socially acceptable. In her speech Vasundhara talked of the importance of improving the lot of women and although I got the impression that the women did not fully understand what she said whenever she mentioned the word ‘mahila’ they cheered. Her speech was an aggressive attack on the Congress Party. ‘In this state’, she said ‘if you count out my five years and the ten years you gave Bhairon Singh Shekhawat you have given Congress 53 years in government since 1947. And, you still do not have drinking water, electricity, roads or decent schools…if you had given the BJP 53 years we would have made Rajasthan into a garden.’ This led to loud cheering from her audience that reached a frenzied crescendo when she reminded them of how

same litany of questions and the crowds shouted back answers. Do you have electricity? No. Drinking Water? No. Are there teachers in the school? No. Doctors in the hospital? No. In the middle of one such question-answer session a man shouted that water had now ‘arrived’ and pointed to the skies as the first few drops of rain fell. By the time of her next public meeting it had begun to pour but still people gathered along the side of the streets of squalid, ugly towns and on the edge of drenched fields and everywhere in answer to the litany of questions the answer was always: no. The last meeting of the day was in Khetri. Darkness had fallen by then and she was greeted by fireworks that lit up the dark sky and momentarily drowned out the excited voices that rose from the vast crowd that had gathered to listen to her. From a stage wet with rain she exhorted them once more to throw out a government that had not been able to provide them with their most basic needs and that was now trying to ‘buy their votes’ by throwing charity at them. In the past two months the government of Ashok Gehlot has spent a fortune on handouts like cheap food grain, housing, clothing, pensions and bicycles for the rural poor. Vasundhara urged her audience to take what was being given to them because it was their money that was being spent on this ‘khairaat’. But, remember not to vote for Congress.

By the end of this day on Vasundhara’s Tavleen Singh ‘yatra’ I found myself arriving at two conclusions. Freud’s account on instincts or drives S

IGMUND FREUD (1856-1939), the father of psychoanalysis, was a physiologist, medical doctor, psychologist and influential thinker of the early twentieth century. Working initially in close collaboration with Joseph Breuer, Freud elaborated the theory that the mind is a complex energy-system, the structural investigation of which is the proper province of psychology. He articulated and refined the concepts of the unconscious, infantile sexuality and repression, and he proposed a tripartite account of the mind’s structure — all as part of a radically new conceptual and therapeutic frame of reference for the understanding of human psychological development and the treatment of abnormal mental conditions. Freud’s theory of the unconscious, then, is highly deterministic. He was arguably the first thinker to apply deterministic principles systematically to the sphere of the mental, and to hold that the broad spectrum of human behavior is explicable only in terms of the (usually hidden) mental processes or states which determine it. Hence the significance which he attributed to slips of the tongue or pen, obsessive behavior and dreams — all these, he held, are deter-

mined by hidden causes in the person’s mind, and so they reveal in covert form what would otherwise not be known at all. This suggests the view that freedom of the will is, if not completely an illusion, certainly more tightly circumscribed than is commonly believed, for it follows from this that whenever we make a choice we are governed by hidden mental processes of which we are unaware.

MATTER & SPIRIT An ‘unconscious’ mental process or event, for Freud, is not one which merely happens to be out of consciousness at a given time, but is rather one which cannot, except through protracted psychoanalysis, be brought to the forefront of consciousness. The postulation of such unconscious mental states entails, of course, that the mind is not, and cannot be, either identified with consciousness, or an object of consciousness. Deeply associated with this view of the mind is Freud’s account of instincts or drives. Instincts are the principal motivating forces in the mental realm, and as such they ‘energise’ the mind in all of its functions. There are, he

held, an indefinitely large number of such instincts, but these can be reduced to a small number of basic ones, which he grouped into two broad generic categories, Eros (the life instinct), which covers all the self-preserving and erotic instincts, and Thanatos (the death instinct), which covers all the instincts towards aggression, self-destruction, and cruelty. Thus it is a mistake to interpret Freud as asserting that all human actions spring from motivations which are sexual in their origin, since those which derive from Thanatos are not sexually motivated–indeed, Thanatos is the irrational urge to destroy the source of all sexual energy in the annihilation of the self. Having said that, it is undeniably true that Freud gave sexual drives an importance and centrality in human life, human actions, and human behavior which was new arguing as he does that sexual drives exist and can be discerned in children from birth (the theory of infantile sexuality), and that sexual energy (libido) is the single most important motivating force in adult life. However, Freud effectively redefined the term ‘sexuality’ to make it cover any form of pleasure which is or can be derived from the body. Thus his theory of the instincts or drives is essentially that the human being is energized or driven from birth by the desire to acquire and enhance bodily pleasure.

Gopinath Munde digs ‘8 crore’ grave and falls in it! POOR Gopinath Munde. He might not have imagined that he would fall into the pit he himself had dug. His bravado that he had spent Rs.8 crore for his last election, may put him in a soup. Narendra Modi and Nitin Gadkari, who were present when Munde made this statement should bear witnesses. Otherwise, they should be treated as cowards. What he might not have realised is that he who is caught is only a thief. It is a known fact that politicians are spending a hell of a lot of money during polls. All black money. They enter Parliament by committing a fraud. How can one expect honesty from them? It is curious

When the question of looting the country comes, all are one and protest vehemently. Otherwise, even Parliament is not allowed to run. Munde should be barred from contest. PM’s ‘secular’ remark

IT is quite surprising that the PM has since termed Nitish Kumar as SECULAR which sounds very low given the status of Manmohan Singh. THE statement made by senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Gopinath Munde that he had spent Rs.8 crore on his campaign for 2009 parliamentary polls in presence of former BJP president Nitin Gadkari and Gujarat CM Narendra Modi has put him in serious trouble (disqualification under Section 10A of the Represtatement of Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke is an indication of a big ‘economic tsunami’ which is going to hit ours as well as other economies of the world. Stem rupee’s gradual decline AT present, the country is facing the two calamities, which are manmade and the consequence of overexploiting nature and overdepending on hot money, which was expected through FDIs and FIIs. The value of the rupee has come down to around Rs.60 against US dollar. It is irrational on the part of RBI Deputy Governor H.R. Takeover of a playground ‘JUST not cricket!’ (ADC, June 28), reveals threadbare the rampant violation of the municipal development rules by a renowned political heavyweight. The facts indicating the involvement of municipal officials, including the Addl. Municipal Commissioner and his associates are indeed condemned. The open space at Kandivali admeasuring 39,950 sq.m. was proposed to be earmarked for a playground which this city really needed for the acutely space-crunched children but because of this politico’s instruction this has been built out to be a glamorous and swanky club house having marble flooring with lavishly built columns et al. Jet-Etihad deal contentious WHATEVER said and done, the UPA govt. is in the centre of controversy throughout its rule for the last five years. But this time Jet-Etihad deal of RS 2,058 cr, the largest foreign investment proposal in India’s aviation sector is flying low and the chances of crash landing is a possibility. Under the deal, Etihad will own a 24 per cent stake in Jet Airways. It is notable that Etihad is the national airline of UAE, with a fleet of 66 aircraft and network of 84 destinations. There is a deep divide within government over the big deal and already the opposition is on a move to make the controversy public. The transaction had already raised eyebrows and within hours of it being announced, India and UAE announced that they had agreed to increase the weekly flying rights between the two countries by nearly four times. Hope the deal does not go through and become a major scandal like the 2G and Coal scams. — Anandambal Subbu, Seawoods

Moreover as a family respected for their involvement in political and public life, one would have expected family members to advise and exhort their sibling to position himself as a role model adhering to every facet of the law - a trend young Indians could look up to and emulate. Instead, one has witnessed several attempts to seek many

tion’s emotional quotient is being aroused to generate fen mail for this infamous jailbird, on whose behalf some public protestations have also been voiced, pronouncing him as innocent & reformed ! Time now for all concerned, whether in the media, media regulators and publicity agencies to curb the indulgence they have exhibited towards this convict, and erase his persona, so to speak, entirely from public arena, until his jail term is complete. Public belief must be restored in the judicial system as far as CRIME, GUILT and PENALTY are concerned. The current scenario cannot be allowed to play out in the public eye like a Bollywood script specifically tailored to suit the lead actor. Justice to be credible, must be democratic not discriminatory. — M.J. Chaves, Mumbai

veryone’s on the shapewear bandwagon these days in order to look their best. Concealing marks with makeup, giving yourself a little boost with a padded bra and now, smoothening out your curves with some control underwear — all to look and feel perfect. So, do women think it is okay to hide their flaws? Do men feel as though they’re being cheated? If you think men would be more offended by the slight ‘change’ in shape than women, we’ve got some surprising answers for you to read through.

she says… “I don’t see the point in people trying to hide the flaws that our bodies have. It’s very easy to make out who is wearing shapewear, because unless you wear it regularly, the change is pretty obvious. I’d rather be happy in my own skin and wear clothes that look good on me naturally rather than wear shapewear.” — Avanti Desai, 19, student “I feel that it’s only worth it if you buy the Marks & Spencer, expensive, zeroborder/only light material kinds. The horrible Asian brands they sell at lingerie stores are really bad. I think it gives women who don’t embody the typical standards of beauty, such as a waif-thin frame, the confidence to wear clothes that their parents or society in general discourages them from wearing. It’s as if larger framed people aren’t worthy of wearing tighter, shapely clothes.” — Tanvi Gaitonde, 21, student “There’s nothing wrong with shapewear. It gives you the confidence to wear what you want to when you’re slightly insecure or don’t have a very strong body image. Of course, wearing it all the time isn’t healthy, but if you want to make your outfit look better on you. It’s not false advertising — it’s not like you want people to buy you! It’s a personal choice.” — Ensia Mirza, 23, filmmaker “Most women dress to impress other women. It is not likely for a guy to

our Picks Since most people think that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with a little help every now and then, here are two sets of shape wear that you must have in your closet:

This tummy cinch high waist brief from Zivame would be ideal for you if you just want a little help with your front porch. Price `2,599

This one piece shape wear from Triumph will shape your tummy, love handles, cinch your waist and smoothen your thighs. Price `1,500

notice shapewear, but a woman will definitely know. So, one can’t really cheat a woman!” — Pooja Advani,22, PR consultant “I think that if you’re a little overweight and need the help, then there’s nothing wrong with shapewear. It’s not really false advertising unless you’re wearing it to get the wrong kind of attention. If you’re wearing it for yourself or to make an outfit look better, then it shouldn’t matter what anyone else thinks about it anyway. It’s only false advertising if you wear it every day as a compulsion, no matter what outfit you’re wearing.” — Arnaz Dhanbhoora, 54, homemaker “I don’t think it’s necessary and as a woman, I feel it encourages women to feel like they’re never good enough and always need a little help. And also that there’s a cheater’s way out of it with these things rather than working to achieve the body you’re wishing to have. They’re uncomfortable, stifling and not worth it unless you’re spending all your time working hard to impress the rest of the world. And if that’s the case, it’s definitely false advertising.” — Zenobia Mehta., 50, homemaker “Shapewear is highly uncomfortable! I don’t know why anyone would want to be sitting around stifled and constrained like that just to look good. If you make an effort like that on a daily basis just so that other people can’t see your lumps and bumps, then I feel it’s false advertising.” — Priyanka Mathur, 23, teacher

“Shapewear is not just to hide our body fat and pretend to be shapely. Some outfits do need these specialised undergarments, especially dresses that are figure hugging. Shapewear makes the outfit seamless; there are no ugly lines that can be seen through your outfit. It’s a blessing when it comes to clingy dresses and trousers. However, most men think that we wear shapewear to deceive them into thinking what we are not, but really men, everything is not about you!” — Arka Chawla, 25, lawyer “For me it’s like wearing loose clothes. Some men and women wear loose clothes to partially hide their baggy fat. I wear shapewear for the same. I mean what’s wrong in wanting to wear clothes that I like? And if shapewear makes them look better, then why not? Some women wear tight outfits anyway with a bulging tummy. I’m not saying anything is wrong with that. I just don’t want to show that bulge, so I wear shapewear. Big deal!” — Drashti Kaul, 27, dentist “Bless the souls who invented shapewear! According to me, it depends upon me what I want to wear and how I want to look. Unlike what most men think, shapewear is mostly worn by women for themselves. It makes them feel good. When I wear a corset under a dress, it makes my dress fall on me better and I love the overall look. When I first tried it, it wasn’t done to impress someone, but to make myself feel happy with the way I look. And if I want to do that, no one has the right t judge me.” — Kritika Khanna, 31, C.A.

he says… “There’s a fierce battle going on nowadays; it’s the battle between comfort and looking good. Shapewear, according to me, is simply the extra juice and gets eyes drooling. It’s just what people want today — the combination of looking good and feeling opulent from within. If I woke up to my partner wearing shapewear, I would gradually go back to sleep without worrying about the same. It’s her chosen zone of feeling awesome, so why question that? “ — Karan Jotwani, 22, model “I don’t think it is cheating even if men wear shapewear. It may be a let down for a new couple, but most people would know what their partners looks like on the inside. Besides, shapewear is all about making yourself look and feel good.” — Shane Fernandes, 26, client servicing “If I understand right, shapewear refers to clothing which brings out the contours of the body. And why not? If any human wants to flaunt it, it’s their choice. Relax! It’s an evolution till we reach a nudist state. That is going to be the ultimate nirvana of a free society.” — Arif Zakaria, 45, actor

what do they think?

Wear it for yourself, not for others. l If it makes you feel good, go ahead and do it. l Wear it when needed, not all the time. l No one should judge. l

“No, I don’t think it’s cheating. They have a certain fashion aesthetic, I guess. I don’t think it’s that big a discovery to really matter.” — Ajeet Mahale, 24, freelance writer “Shapewear is false advertising. It makes women look thinner and more shapely than they are. But, I don’t think it’s such a big deal. If it makes them feel good in a dress, then their confidence trumps everything.” — Brendan D’Souza, 33, Finance expert “Well, I look at a woman’s face... not her body. So, if a woman is comfortable with what she’s wearing it’s cool with me. Everyone is an individual first and can choose to wear whatever one feels comfortable in. Who am I to judge about anyone’s personal choices.” — Rajeev Paul, 43, actor “I think it’s okay for girls to wear shapewear. And I won’t be surprised if somebody I like wears it. People try to put a mask on their personality when they interact with others, so why not on their physical self?” — Aklaque Khan, 27, actor “It is false advertising, but not to the extent that a padded bra is. If I cling-wrap my paunch and hit the streets, I’d surely get more glances than if I let it all hang out. Similarly, with women, shapewear makes them look slimmer than they are, which can be disappointing when the corset comes off.” — Gerard Pereira, 29, Graphic artist “I am neither in favour nor against

shapewear. If you are wearing it for a party, it’s fine, but if you are wearing it all the time, then it becomes a bit too much.” — Rohit Bhardwaj, 29, actor “To each their own. The assets are theirs. It’s their choice to wear whatever they wish to. If my girlfriend is comfortable, why should I have any objection? It’s totally an i n d i v i d u a l ’s choice. Though, normally it’s ideal to be natural.” — — Mohammed Nazim, 27, actor — Inputs by Rohit Pramar

GO NUDE! Reeth’s makeup secRets

l Highlight one feature at a time. If you’re wearing dramatic eye makeup, keep the rest of your look simple. l Drink water because a hydrated face looks the best. l Avoid junk food as oil and grease shows on your face. l Use flat beer for your hair as it adds a nice sheen.

We often think that those in the limelight use layers of makeup to look their best on and off camera. But, actress and model Reeth Mazumder thinks that less is always more. Here, she reveals her beauty secrets to Rohit Pramar How do you keep your skin glowing? I drink a lot of water; at least four litres a day. I also drink lemon water to purify my blood. Apart from that, I cleanse and tone my skin regularly. It’s important to keep your skin hydrated as the water in your body gets used up quickly. Which beauty products can you not live without? I can’t live without my MAC box, a skin cleanser, sunscreen, kohl and a light-shade of lipstick. What’s in your makeup bag right now? My MAC Studio fix kit, a light lipstick and kohl. What do you feel is the biggest makeup mistake that women make? I think women use dark shades too often. I suggest avoiding dark makeup, especially during summer, because it looks bad. For a night out, you can use darker shades. But overall, I think women should stick to bright hues. What’s your favourite makeup style? I like to put a little bit of eye makeup, which defines the shape of my eyes. I love applying kohl and I pair it with lipstick in a nude shade. What’s the last beauty item you bought? A small makeup kit by Yves Saint Laurent that I picked up in Germany. What’s on your bedside table? A night cream, vitamin E face mist and a body lotion. Who is your beauty icon and why? Kajol is my beauty icon. I think your eyes are your best feature and I like Kajol’s eyes as they are well defined.

>> Reeth goes on a detox diet every alternate month to cleanse her body of toxins, so that she looks and feels her best

Who would you like to go out on a date with and why? In Bollywood, it would have to be Aamir Khan because I’ve grown up watching his films. It would be mindboggling! In Hollywood, it has to be Hugh Jackman! I think he is extremely hot. What does your current beauty regimen include? I am currently on a detox diet. I go on a detox diet every alternate month wherein I avoid eating anything unhealthy for an entire month. During this period I turn vegetarian and eat a lot of vegetables and fruits. This helps my body recover. Other than that, I do light weight and cardio exercises. I also go for massages once a week to help me relax. How do you maintain your figure? I am very conscious about my diet and I try to eat well. I avoid junk food as I think it’s not good for your health at all. But once a week, I allow myself to eat whatever I want, without any guilt. I also work out, but I focus more on my diet than exercise regime. How do you take care of your hair during the monsoon? I wash my hair with flat beer. Beer is good for your hair as it protects it from moisture, especially during the heavy monsoon. I also keep my hair tied as it’s convenient. This also prevents my hair from getting damaged and wet during the downpour. Apart from that, I try to go for a hair spa once a week. Also, I shampoo and condition my hair on alternate days to keep it clean and healthy. One beauty tip that you would like to give our readers? Avoid makeup as much as you can and drink enough water. There’s no point in applying makeup on a dry canvas. Your face needs to be hydrated and fresh. Drink fresh juices during summer because they give you nutrition as well as keep your body hydrated. Make sure you exercise regularly. Also, use vitamin E face mist as it’s good for the skin.

The actress looks lovely in this all white outfit. Though it’s modest, the sheer fabric and hint of cleavage adds a sexy edge to her look. We like that she’s opted for gold instead of silver as her statement earrings really stand out. However, we wish she had worn strappy shoes.

Sometimes there’s nothing better than sticking to a black dress. Neeta looks lovely in her age appropriate outfit. We love how she’s adding a fun twist with her leopard pumps and matching gold clutch. However, that fringe is a little too severe for our liking.

Who would ever think that Deepika could manage to look so... aunty! The dress is pretty on its own, but the length of the sleeves and hemline and those cheesy glasses make this look a complete flop for us. She looks more sexy librarian than bombshell. What’s up with that smile too?

At first we didn’t much care for this look, but we have to say it’s growing on us. The all white shirt and shorts combination looks pretty. We love the multiple bracelets and pop of blue. But, come on, do something with your hair girl, don’t let it all just... be there.

Forget the outfit, we’re loving her attitude! The ladies on this page could learn from this bubbly chick. She rocks glasses and we love her fishtail braid. The electric blue jumpsuit looks good on her and the neon pink pumps take it to a new level. We like!

NEW BEGINNINGS F

>> Switching jobs? Our tips will help you navigate your first day at your new workplace

Shutterstock

It doesn’t matter if it’s your first job or if you’re joining a new company after years of experience. Your first day at a new workplace can see the professional you be replaced by a bundle of nerves. That’s why Dev Goswami brings you a few tips to help you out

irst impressions matter. Your co-workers and bosses are going to judge what you do and say on your first day. That’s why most of us are so nervous about joining a new office. While it is an exciting prospect, it can also be an intimidating one, considering you will be meeting a number of new people and won’t know how to get your work done. If you are stuck in such a situation or if you are planning on joining a new company in the near future, these tips will help you out on your first day at work.

A good night’s rest Do you know when you appear most energetic and enthusiastic? No, it’s not after a few cups of coffee; it’s when your mind and body are wellrested. Ensure that you don’t have a late night the day before you start your job. This will also guarantee that you reach on time. A better idea would be to take a few days off between switching jobs as this will give you a much needed break.

do your homework A sure shot way to impress your boss on your first day is to read up on anything and everything that you can find about the company you’re joining. Also keep yourself in the loop about your industry’s news. We aren’t saying that your boss is going to throw a pop quiz at you, but if you’re well-informed, it will make understating directions and instructions easier and will prevent you, in your nervousness, from saying something stupid.

dress smArt

It doesn’t matter what the dress code at your new office is — you can go wrong both ways. If it’s casual, a pair of jeans and a top or a simple unfussy dress is your safest bet. But, if the dress code is formal, ensure that you put on a well-ironed and simple outfit — make sure that you don’t overdo it. Choose light colours and avoid wearing anything that’s too revealing.

greet everyone You might have been assigned and introduced to your team. But, that doesn’t mean that you ignore the rest of the office. Greet everyone who you come across — this will make your following days easier. Also, when you’re being introduced to someone, repeat their name after you’ve heard it. This gives out an impression that you’re actually interested in knowing the person.

tAke the initiAtive On your first day, it is possible that you’ll find yourself sitting at your desk with no work. But, rather than feeling left-out, chat with a co-worker who seems free. Ask him or her about the work culture and minor things such as directions to the washroom or the coffee vending machine. Also, keep in mind that co-workers, because of their work, can often forget about you and so, you’ll need to take the initiative to start a conversation. Not only will this help build a rapport with your colleagues, it will also ensure that you don’t get labeled ‘aloof.’

« STUFF WE LIKE: HOLII WALLETS

« CAREER ADVICE we tell you how to deAl with rePorting to multiPle bosses I work in a big corporate firm and there is a lot of pressure at work. Promotions and bonuses are performance based in our company, which is why the environment is very competitive. I work in a team that comprises of six people, and there is one girl on my team who keeps taking credit for all the work I do and sometimes even for the entire team! She makes it seem as though she knows it all in front of the boss. I don’t want to create a scene at work, and want to deal with this problem in a diplomatic way. Can you tell me how? — maisha Ahmed, lower Parel dear maisha, Being diplomatic has its advantages, but it isn’t always the bestsolution to a problem. You should try talking to your superior and make your contributions known, whether they are individual or as part of your team. Take a more active interest in the project and keep reporting to your superior at regular intervals so that he/she knows you are the one doing the actual work. If this doesn’t work, I think confronting your colleague is your only option. Tell her how you feel and ask her why she is doing so when she clearly knows that she is taking credit for someone else’s work. Also, remember that talent cannot remain hidden for long, if you keep up the good work I’m sure it will be acknowledged at some point or the other. So, don’t be disheartened; I’m sure you will find a way out of this situation.

At my office, I have to report to a number of different bosses depending on the clients or projects I am dealing with. This creates a power struggle between them because each person wants me to give his client/ project more importance. Everyone feels as though their client needs more attention and I keep getting caught in the crossfire. Because of this I can’t focus on any client properly. What can I do to peacefully handle one boss without disappointing the other? — kruti saxena, worli dear kruti, You seem to be in a really sticky place at work. There will be no point in explaining the situation to the various heads, so you might as well take this up with someone with a higher. It is best that, a superior speaks to your immediate bosses. Be polite but firm when you go with your problem because you don’t want someone to take you lightly. It is very important at a workplace to be able to carry out your duties in a pleasant environment and without the guilt feeling that you are doing something wrong. Your colleagues should be facing the same problem as you, so try talking to them about the measures they are taking to deal with it. send your questions to womansworld@afternoondc.in before wednesday

>> Dr. Naseema Hurzuk was awarded the Woman Of the Year 2012-2013 award by the Indian Merchants’ Chamber, Ladies Wing. She has helped 12,000 differently-abled kids, paraplegic men and women with Helpers Of the Handicapped

AN EXCEPTIONAL WOMAN Kainaz Choksey talks to Dr. Naseema Hurzuk, the founder of Helpers Of The Handicapped and comes away impressed and inspired by this truly outstanding woman

W

hen Dr. Naseema Hurzuk was awarded the Woman Of the Year 2012-2013 award by the Indian Merchants’ Chamber, Ladies Wing, in Mumbai recently, few in the audience realised till much later, that she was just adding one more to the formidable list she already had. Handed the latest award by none other than Renuka Chowdhury, Member of Parliament, Dr. Naseema is the founder of the Helpers Of the Handicapped and has been widely recognised and rewarded for her outstanding work for the physically and mentally challenged. In fact, this award was number 68, since she has already received a total of 67 awards, national and local, in the past! Born in September, 1950 in Solapur, Naseema Hurzuk became a paraplegic after 16 years of normal life, possibly the cruelest time to be so afflicted. She was very sociable by nature and very enterprising as a student, participating in sports and cultural activities, besides chalking up a good academic reward. In fact, life was very good, then she had a fall. It must have been really bad for she damaged her spinal cord, leaving no sensation in her lower body. Struck by paraplegia, at the age of 16 years she was confined to her room. It wasn’t just the loss of sensation in her lower limbs below waist that was an endless torment, but the fact that she had lost control of bladder and bowel movement. Life seemed to have pulled out its worst cards for the young girl. But this was not all. As if things were not bad enough, Naseema lost her beloved father. For a while she remained bedridden and confined, experiencing the agony of having to depend on

others for her basic functions, shedding bitter tears over her great misfortune. But words kept echoing in her head, words spoken by her late father. “Khud ko kar buland intake har taqdeer se pehle, khuda bande se khud pooche ,bataa teri raza kya hai.” (Raise yourself to such heights that God may himself ask you as to what you wish.) Speaking to the ADC at the awards function, Dr. Naseem said, “I realised then that staying bedridden was not the solution. What lay ahead was not just physical dependency but also financial dependency and I must overcome both.” Naseema went on finally to do her BA with Economics, got herself a government job in the Central Excise department. But she chafed to do more. By then, in 1973, this girl, who had hurt her back playing kabaddi, was taking part in the famous Stoke-Mandeville Games at Aylesbury in England. These games are associated with the even more famous Stoke Mandeville Hospital which specialises in rehabilitation for those with spinal injuries. Naseema had begun to notice how much it was still possible for even a paraplegic to achieve, if she set her mind to it. In the 1980’s Naseema Hurzuk was beginning to wonder how she could help those less fortunate than her. “Although, I was rehabilitated, I was always uncomfortable seeing the pathetic lives the other less privileged people were living, due to lack of awareness about opportunities available for development and their inability to procure them”, she said. She identified the need for organised efforts to help the underprivileged, of whom a majority was from the rural areas. She founded an institution in

conjunction with a social organisation. However, due to conflicting ideas on issues and activities alike, she decided to quit the organization. Capitalising on her experience and uniting with like-minded people, most of them physically handicapped like herself, she started afresh and thus was established Helpers of the Handicapped in Kolhapur in 1983. Hurzuk spoke about how independently 12,000 differently-abled kids, paraplegic men and women operate a cashew processing unit at Helpers Of the Handicapped. Nearly 275 tonnes of cashewnuts were processed by 200 inmates in 2012-2013. She highlighted the triumph of paraplegic inmates overcoming physical challenges to make cement blocks! And she declared, “We don’t want any help from the government. We want to thrive on our own capabilities. We only want tax exemption from the government.” The inmates at the Helpers Of the Handicapped are taught to “freedance” on wheelchairs, play cricket and volleyball etc. “There are no helpers for the differently abled at the organisation since they have been taught to be self-reliant from the very beginning,” she adds. At the IMC awards function, Renuka Chowdhury promised to work towards Hurzuk’s cause for tax emption for 45 lakh differently abled people in Maharashtra. Like we said earlier, there have been awards and recognition in the filed of rehabilitation of the physically handicapped. Her life and her work have been portrayed in the book “Daughters of Maharashtra,” a unique record of women in Maharashtra, identified as “most exceptional”. Something she certainly is!

>> If your guy is showing signs of IMS (irritable male syndrome) show him some love and affection but don’t go overboard

« SOS: SOLVE OUR SITUATION! think you can fix our readers’ complicated problems? read on...

Gynelle Alves

Afternoon Despatch & Courier

I work with a really good company and I’m very happy with most aspects of my job such as the pay and health schemes. I have also repeatedly been told what a good job I do. However, every time a new project is entrusted to me... My project supervisor decides she has to supervise me excessively.

Did you know that men also experience PMS? It’s called IMS. So ladies, rejoice because we finally have something to blame for their erratic moodiness. Priyanka Singh lets you in on details

Today is Friday! And I need to wrap up this last project. You’ll have it by Thursday. Anyway, it’s only due next Monday.

IMS alert! I MS is PMS... for men. Oh yes, it’s payback time! While we women have been mocked for our PMS (premenstrual symptoms) time and again, it’s the guys’ turn with IMS (Irritable Male Syndrome) which includes mood swings, raging hormones and flaring tempers. Research actually shows that this can happen to men when there is a drop in the male hormone testosterone. We bring you pointers on handling a man with IMS:

Leave them aLone While most women would like special attention during this period, men simply want to be left alone. If you question them more, they might just blow up and blame you for their bad mood. You obviously will not take that lying down and it’s likely you will shout at him which will only escalate the matter. So, just let him be and go about your business like nothing is wrong. Let him do what he wants to do that day and don’t nag him.

Laugh it out with them

these days. Bear with him and tell him that he better be equally understanding One advantage with guys IMSing is that when you are undergoing PMS. their mood can quickly change for the better, unlike ours, and there is a high caLL one of his friends chance of their good mood sticking around. So, book two tickets for a Don’t think you can handle him? Call one comedy show that you know he’ll like. He of his friends over. Patience Don’t try to be his problem solver or be in his face all the time when he’s going through IMS. Compliment him. Remember that IMS happens because of a drop in testosterone and it could be nice if he gets to hear some positive things about himself, especially concerning his bedroom prowess. However, keep in mind that he might not want to get intimate or cuddly during

cook

Let’s go back to the age old connection of men and their tummies. If your man is a foodie, nothing will calm him down better than his favourite dish. Cook something that he likes and you’ll see the sulk disappear like magic. In fact, just the news of you cooking one of his favourite dishes will disperse the grey clouds. Not much of a cook? His beloved restaurant should do the trick then. Order in if he doesn’t feel like stepping out.

« DEAR GRACE, I HAVE A PROBLEM... dear grace,

My ex-boyfriend has cheated on me multiple times. But, we always end up getting back together simply because I can’t stop talking to him — he was also my best friend. However, this time I seriously want it to be over for good. How do I resist the urge to contact him? — madhuri talwar, Bandra

So, you will give me the report by Tuesday?

dear madhuri, You ex sounds like a piece of work! Good job that you’ve finally decided to get rid of this guy. The first thing you need to do is tackle your phone: delete his number and all his SMSes. It will be hard but it’s the first step to avoiding contact. Also, keep a list of the things he’s put you through and do a quick read if you ever feel the need to get in touch

with him. Trust me, reading his flaws will make you wonder why you wanted to call him in the first place. Then, block him from on Facebook and other social media accounts. Go out with your friends and family. And last but not least, keep your phone at home when you go out drinking. Send your questions to womansworld@afternoondc.in

Then, even though she knows how much time each task takes to finish, she will start micro-managing me. She floods my inbox with emails asking how the project is progressing, saying things like, “We needed this last week” and calling non-stop. She is basically driving me up the wall and distracting me from the task at hand. It becomes a situation where I am trying to get my work done as well as get Oh Aki, her off my back at you’re too the same time. much!

Then she starts getting personal!

Oh. Another coffee break? You take a lot of breaks. You know we need that report. You’re always doing this blah blah blah.

Uh... uh

Then, the day after I handed in the project...

Great job on the report! Yeah, she did a good job. But, she really needs to be managed! It’s really hard working with her sometimes. Constantly chasing blah blah.

She now features in her most ambitious role playing Mughal Princess Mehrunissa in EPIC channel’s new historical magnum opus Mallika. Yes I am, especially because it is in a segmented, genre specific channel like EPIC which is scheduled to be launched in August, and Mallika will be the first show on this channel.

What is the backdrop of Mallika? Mallika is based on writer Indu Sundaresan’s trilogy of Mughal history called ‘The Twentieth Wife’ and will depict the tale of the rise of a woman behind the veil – Mehrunissa, who went on to become the most powerful queen of the dynasty – Empress Nur Jahan, the twentieth and last wife of Emperor Jehangir. Their interpersonal conflicts, tempestuous love lives, clashing ideologies and domestic politics will all be put under a microscope.

PLAYING HIMSELF

Main puri Indian Idol Junior team ko badhai deti hu aur in sab baccho ko bohot bohot pyar.“ Looks like the Junior Idol fan base is only increasing by the day!

NEW CONCEPT

With the launch of its historical magnum opus ‘Jodha Akbar’, Zee TV has launched a Facebook application that allows couples to immortalize their love by inscribing their names on ‘virtual’ historical monuments! The idea is to support the preservation of our heritage by encouraging lovers to write their names on virtual monuments rather than defacing real ones. Users are given a choice between four monuments where they would like to have their names inscribed. Once they type their names, they are given a choice between posting an image of their ‘immortal space’ on their Facebook pages and sending their partner a more detailed love note via a message. The app can be accessed on Zee TV’s official Facebook homepage https://www.facebook.com/ZeeTvIndia.

What is the shooting like? We are shooting in a palace in Bikaner where it is really hot but we have fun as it is a great unit.

You have done Hollywood and television? What next? I have not planned anything but all I can say is that I will be busy doing 25 episodes of Mallika. I also hope to do films with new directors like Imtiaz Ali. Well, The Princess sure knows her mind!

A

zoOm has started noticing a more confident director in Mohit Suri these days post his recent blockbuster with Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor! The movie has not only catapulted the lead couple to stardom, but has also raised the bar for Mohit. Last heard, Mohit was to direct a movie for Ekta Kapoor’s production house. However, Ekta is now considering Abhishek ‘Gattu’ Kapoor for the new venture. So what made Ekta change her mind? Post the success of his recent movie, Mohit hiked his fee and informed Ekta about it, leaving her fuming. Well we certainly hope all’s well that end’s well in this case!

The monsoon is a perfect opportunity for kids to get wet in the rain and enjoy themselves. It is also the time when mothers stop them to prevent them from falling ill. Things happen a little differently in Gokuldham Society in Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashma on SAB TV. Anjali Mehta (Neha Mehta) however decides to join the kids in their monsoon fun and calls all the other women in Gokuldham to enjoy as well. “It was such a wonderful idea. Mazaa aa gaya. It was like revisiting our childhood,” said Daya ben (Disha Wakani). This episode will air on Monday, July 10.

How have you prepared for the role? I read the original book in detail as well as popular Mughal literature like ‘Akbarnaama’. I also interacted with the director to get the brief of the character. I have had some theater experience in Delhi which has helped me a lot in portraying the character.

Key takeaways Equity infusion likely to aid credit growth: ING Vysya Bank raised capital via QIP (Rs8.1bn at Rs612 a share) and preferential allotment of equity to its foreign promoter (Rs9.6bn at Rs612 a share) – entailing 19.4% equity share capital dilution (1.8x FY14e pre-dilution BV). Post consolidation (12.4% CAGR over FY09-10), the bank’s customer assets have consistently grown faster than the system over FY11-13. The capital infusion is likely to help sustain the bank’s customer asset growth of 25% over FY13-15e . High NIM, cost efficiencies to improve RoA: Strong traction in current account deposits has supported NIM of 3.61%, better than its peers. We expect a higher CASA share of 34% and increasing share of higher-yielding assets to support a stable 3.4% NIM over FY13-15. Focus on leveraging its network continues, resulting in cost-to-income steadily improving to 56% in FY13 against a high 61.8% in FY11. Our take: We raise FY14 and FY15 net profit 2.8% and 2.5%, respectively, and increase our target from Rs713 to Rs739, to factor in the capital infusion. We value the bank at 1.9x FY14BVe on lower RoE. High NIM of +3.4%, better productivity and high NPA coverage are likely to expand RoA to 1.5% by FY15 from 1.2% in FY13. We reiterate Buy, with our target based on the two stage DDM (CoE: 14.6%; beta: 0.9; Rf: 8%).

First Call Research calls a ‘Buy’ on Infinite Computer CMP: Rs. 83 Target Rs. 95

Infinite Computer Solutions Ltd, is a leading IT and next-generation wireless messaging and mobility solutions provider for carriers and enterprises. The company’s Net Profit registered a 43.91% increase and stood at a record Rs. 297.90 million from Rs. 207.00 million over the corresponding quarter of previous year. Infinite Computer Solutions (India) Ltd has received “India’s Most Respected Company in Corporate Governance & Excellence Award” at 4th Annual India Leadership Conclave. Infinite Computer Solutions has declared a final dividend of Rs. 3.00 per equity share on face value of Rs. 10/- each for the FY ended March 31, 2013. Infinite Computer Solutions has achieved a turnover of Rs. 3600.90 million for the 4thquarter of the current year 2012-13 as against Rs. 2669.00 millions in the corresponding quarter of previous year. Outlook and Conclusion: At the current market price of Rs.83.00, the stock P/E ratio is at 2.42 x FY14E and 2.21 x FY15E respectively. Earning per share of the company for the earnings for FY14E and FY15E is seen at Rs.34.34 and Rs.37.51 respectively. Net Sales and PAT of the company are expected to grow at a CAGR of 20% and 10% over 2012 to 2015E respectively. On the basis of EV/EBITDA, the stock trades at 1.07 x for FY14E and 0.91 x for FY15E. Price to Book Value of the stock is expected to be at 0.48 x and 0.39 x respectively for FY14E and FY15E. Infinite has re-structured into 3 independent businesses: IT Services, Product Engineering and Mobility & Messaging Platforms and has completed major investments in building Mobility & Next Generation Platforms, which will drive its future growth. Over the next Fiscal, the Company intends to invest over US$ 12 millions to build a platform for growth across the three business line. We recommend ‘BUY’ in this particular scrip with a target price of Rs. 95.00 for Medium to Long term investment.

India Infoline calls a ‘Buy’ on Yes Bank CMP: Rs. 464 Target Rs. 610

YES Bank’s (YBL) business continues to be on track, with healthy accretion to loans and deposits, sustained asset quality, and healthy operating efficiencies from older branches. The current legal tangle involving the promoter entities has not affected the business. YBL continues to grow its assets and add low-cost deposits at a fast clip, focus on expanding coverage of retail products across branches, and increase efforts to maintain its superior credit quality. Re-iterate positive outlook on strong earnings outlook: The stock is currently trading at 2.4x FY14ii BV and 1.9x FY15ii BV, which is much more reasonable after the recent correction. We maintain our positive view on YBL underpinned by our expectation of robust 25% earnings Cagr over FY13-15ii, 1.5% ROA, and ~20-22% ROE. Given YBL’s robust profitability profile, strong outlook on balance sheet growth, and proven record of accomplishment, we believe the stock will continue to command premium valuations versus peers. We value YBL at 2.5x FY15ii BV or Rs 610/share, and re-iterate our BUY recommendation. Please send all business and corporate related mails to business@afternoondc.in

India’s Services Sector Growth Down In June By A Business Reporter

ndia’s services sector activity slowed down in June owing to a decline in new business orders and subdued economic conditions, an HSBC survey said. The HSBC-Markit purchasing managers’ index for the services industry, which was released yesterday, fell from May’s three- month high 53.6 to 51.7 in June. The services sector, which accounts for around 60 % of the India’s GDP, witnessed moderation in June as the pace of growth in new orders placed at private sector firms in India during the month was the weakest in the last 50 month period, HSBC said. Moreover, subdued economic conditions were also a major factor be-

hind the deceleration in output growth, HSBC said. A reading above 50 shows that the sector is expanding, while that below 50 shows that the output in the sector is contracting. “Service sector activity grew at a slower clip as new business flows moderated, which made businesses less optimistic about the year ahead,” HSBC Chief Economist for India and ASEAN Leif Eskesen said. The slower pace of growth in the services sector is reflected in service providers’ subdued optimism towards output growth in the next 12 months, the survey said. Earlier this week, the HSBC/Markit manufacturing PMI showed that the manufacturing sector output remained broadly flat in June as new

orders declined for the first time in over four years. Accordingly, the HSBC India Composite Output Index, which maps services and manufacturing activity, fell from 52.0 in May to 50.9 in June. On price rise, the report said faster rates of inflation were signalled in the Indian private sector during June as input prices rose solidly, amid higher raw material, labour and fuel costs.” Notwithstanding the slowdown, inflation readings firmed up on the back of higher labour and raw material prices, with the depreciation of the Rupee also cited as a factor,” Eskesen said. The rupee last week sank to an all-time low of 60.76 against dollar on heavy capital outflows and month-end dollar demand from importers.

ublic sector banks are likely to cut the base rate in the coming days in keeping with the Finance Minister’s suggestion to bring down the lending rates. Although most of the bankers, who attended yesterday’s meeting with Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, did not see this as an instruction, they were inclined to implement it in true spirit. Base rate is the rate below which banks cannot lend. Over the next few days, one would get to see a lot of banks cutting their base rate, a PSB chief, who attended the meeting, said. “We will apply our mind and take an appropriate decision,’’ S.L. Bansal, Chairman & Managing Director, Oriental Bank of Commerce, said when asked about possible action. K.R. Kamath, Chairman & Managing Director, Punjab National Bank, said that the Finance Minister had suggested some measures including a cut in base rate to prop up the economy.

BUSINESS BRIEFS Government Rejects MCX’s FDI Proposal

Mumbai-based commodity exchange MCX’s foreign direct investment (FDI) proposal has been rejected, a government statement said yesterday, without giving any details. The Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB), which met on June 14, rejected the proposal of the commodity exchange, the statement said. MCX was seeking post facto approval for FDI received before issuance of the government guidelines for overseas investment in commodity exchanges, according to media reports. The guidelines were issued in 2008.

Primary Bond Sales At Record $35-Billion In H1

Primary bond offerings by domestic corporates have touched a record high of USD 34.9 billion in the first half of the year. “Primary bond offerings from domestic issuers witnessed the best semi-annual volume on record during the first half of 2013 as total proceeds raised reached USD 34.9 billion, an 18.2 % increase from the first half of 2012 of USD 29.5 billion,” according to the data compiled by Thomson Reuters. The increase was despite a slump of 31 % in the April-June quarter compared to the preceding first quarter, it said. In the overall pie of USD 34.9 billion, companies from the financial sector topped the chart with USD 21.9 billion or 62.7 per cent of the proceeds raised, it said in a statement.

Banks To Focus On Top Defaulters

Concerned over rising bad loans, Finance Minister P Chidambaram yesterday asked banks to focus on top defaulters and take action against them.” You focus on the top defaulters, as well as keep on eye on the top performing accounts... They are keeping a close watch on the top 30 nonperforming accounts in each bank and action will be taken on the defaulters,” Chidambaram said.

Fantasy of rape

I am a 26-year-old married woman. Very often I fantasise being raped by someone. I read somewhere that all women carry this fantasy in their mind. Is it normal to have such a fantasy? Kindly clarify. It is true that there are some women (not all) who at some point or the other in their lives carry the fantasy of being taken sexually or being swept off their feet. In reality, rape is a violent act, forced and unwarned, over which a victim has no control at all. Very often it is seen that a fantasy is necessary when there is a lack of emotional intimacy between partners and sex is merely a physical activity. Therefore, both you and your husband need to deeply examine your relationship, either on your own individually, or with the help of a good counsellor, to determine what can be done to enhance the emotional intimacy so that such fantasies do not occur.

PILGRIMS’ PROGRESS… Pilgrims trekking towards the Amarnath shrine near Dhumail in Sonmarg on Wednesday.

EW DELHI: The government on Wednesday decided to come out with an ordinance to give nation's two-third population the right to 5 kgs of foodgrain every month at highly subsidised rates of Rs 1-3 per kg. The Cabinet, which had last month deferred a decision on the issue, on Wednesday approved promulgation of an ordinance to implement the Food Security Bill, sources told PTI. With this, India will join select league of countries in the world that guarantee majority of its population food-

grains. At Rs.1,25,000 crore of government support, the food security programme will be the largest in the world. The Ordinance is being promulgated just weeks before the scheduled Monsoon session of Parliament. Even after the Ordinance, the Bill will have to be approved by both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. The Ordinance, which will guarantee 5 kg of rice, wheat and coarse cereals per month per person at a fixed price of Rs.3, 2, 1, respectively, will come into effect after President Pranab Mukherjee signs it.

25

However, about 2.43 crore poorest of the poor families covered under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) scheme under PDS (Public Distribution System) would get legal entitlement to 35 kg of foodgrains per family per month. Officials said the Ordinance will be presented to the President on Thursday. Once President signs it, rules will be framed. The programme will be rolled-out from August after state governments prepare the beneficiary list. The scheme will take at least six moths to cover the entire country, they said.

Over 250 NDRF personnel deployed for U’khand PSU banks to hire 50k employees this fiscal: FM N

EW DELHI: Over 250 personnel of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed in Uttarakhand as a preventive measure after the Met department predicted heavy rains in parts of the hill state in next three days. "Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has given a warning of rainfall, heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand. Six

teams of NDRF (one team comprising 45 men) have been deployed in Dehradun, Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi so that they can react in case of any emergency," Vice Chairman of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) M Shashidhar Reddy told PTI. He emphasised on the need for changes in the State Disaster Management Au-

thority to ensure prompt and effective response to any such calamity. "A lot of issues have been thrown up in last few days after the Uttarakhand tragedy. It is to be understood that the State and the Centre have to play a major role in giving a response to any disaster. It is important that State authorities are constituted and functional," Reddy said.

EW DELHI: Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday said public sector banks plan to hire 50,000 persons and open 10,000 branches in the current fiscal. "This year public sector banks are expected to add 10,000 branches of which 2,000 are to be by Regional Rural Banks. Correspondingly there will be recruitment. In fact all the banks put together

are expected to recruit some 50,000 persons in the current year," he told PTI after meeting heads of PSU banks. The public sector banks had a sanctioned strength of about 8 lakh employees as on March 31, 2012. They hired around 63,000 persons in the last financial year. The country's largest bank SBI alone recruited 20,000 clerical staff and 1,200 officer

level employees. Other PSU banks hired 22,000 officers and 20,000 clerical staff. There were 84,489 vacancies at various levels in the state-owned banks at the end of 2010-11. Seeking to improve manpower management in the PSU banks, the Finance Ministry recently said that the 19 nationalised banks should have a total of 442 GMs to oversee banking operations.

IN BRIEF Aman emerges supreme; Charvi, Nishaad bag double

MUMBAI: India ranked Aman Balgu gave an enthralling display of power, speed and spin as he outsmashed and outpaced Noel Pinto in the fast-paced men’s singles final of the JVPGC All Mumbai Ranking table tennis tournament, hosted by Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana Club here today. Aman had to draw on all his resources against his Andheri YMCA teammate Noel before he triumphed 11-6, 9-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-4, 11-9. Noel, at times, matched his very aggressive opponent stroke for stroke. After Aman took the opening game briskly, Noel brought parity with some intelligent pace variation. The tide, however, turned in Aman’s favour in the third game with Noel leading 9-5, watching helpleesly. After a long time, Charvi Kawle showed her her nimble footwork and allround attacking game as she lowered the colours of top seeded Shweta Parte in both the women’s and youth girls finals. SRI LANKA DECIMATE INDIA BY 161 RUNS SPORTS

K

INGSTON: Upul Tharanga scored a career-best unbeaten 174 as Sri Lanka produced a clinical display to thrash India by 161 runs in the third match of the ODI tri-series here. Sent into bat, Sri Lanka first rode on Tharanga’s 174 and Mahela Jayawardene’s 107 to pile up a mammoth 348 for one yesterday and then shot out the Indians for a paltry 187 in 44.5 overs. Besides Tharanga and Jayawardene, Angelo Mathews made a quickfire 44. The Indians looked a pale shadow of themselves with Ravindra Jadeja top-scoring with an unbeaten 49 followed by Suresh Raina (33), Murali Vijay (30), Shikhar Dhawan (24) and Dinesh Karthik (22). Chasing the imposing total, India piled up pressure on themselves by scoring just 28 runs for the loss of one wicket in the first 10 overs. Rohit Shamra was the first to depart, caught by Mathews at short mideicket off Nuwan Kulasekara’s bowling. With a mountain to chase, the Indians found boundaries hard to come by as they dealt mostly in singles and twos. The ever-climbing asking rate took a tool on the Indians as they lost Dhawan and skipper Virat Kohli in successive overs.

Sensational Kapur shoots 64 to qualify for British Open

D

UNBAR (Scotland): Seven years after his first and only Major appearance, Shiv Kapur shot a stunning six-under 64 on a rainy afternoon in the second round of the 36-hole qualifier to earn a berth at the 2013 British Open. Kapur grabbed one of the three spots available from the Local Final Qualifying in Dunbar. The Indians, who was lying tied 11th after a first round of one-under 69, was two-under for the front nine in the second round. He then went all out on the back nine and nailed four birdies for a flawless 64 and finished the 36-hole qualifiers at seven-under 133. His birdies came on the fourth, ninth, 11th, 13th, 14th, and most crucially on the closing 18th. In the morning, he played the first round with an eagle on par-5 second and a birdie on 15th and bogeys on sixth and 13th. Finishing one shot ahead of Kapur was local amateur Grant Forrest who shot 67 and 65 for an 8-under-par aggregate. “I wanted to try to qualify on a links course because I think that’s the proper way to do it. It was the first time I had played a links course since this time last year, so it was all a bit strange to start with, but I soon got the hang of things again. I played beautifully this afternoon,” Kapur said. Kapur’s last and only appearance at a Major came at Royal Liverpool in 2006, a year after he had a sensational Rookie year on Asian Tour. “Basically the reason you play golf is to compete in the Majors against the best and there is no greater tournament than the Open Championship with all its history. It feels great and to shoot on a tough rainy afternoon and basically play my round of the summer when it matters most is a great feeling.I am really looking forward to Muirfield and it was one of my goals this year to get back to the Majors,” added Kapur.

While trying to break the shakles Dhawan found out Tharanga at deep midwicket off Rangana Herath (3/37), Kohli hooked a Mathews delivery straight to Lasith Malinga at fineleg in the next over. Malinga then went through Vijay’s defence two overs later as India slumped to 70 for four after the end of 19 overs. Wicket-keeper Karthik and Raina added 53 runs off 63 balls for the fitth wicket before the former perished, stumped by Kumar Sangakkara off Herath in the 29th over. Raina tried hard to get India back on track with a run-a-ball 33 but fell victim of a run out. Thereafter, the Indian innings fell apart as none other batsmen managed doubled digit scores with only Jadeja showing some teeth before the discipleined Sri Lankan bowling attack. This is India’s second defeat in the tournament after having lost to West Indies by one wicket in their tournament opener. Earlier, Tharanga smashed a career-best unbeaten 174, while Jayawardene made 107 as Sri Lanka produced a dominant batting display to post an imposing 348 for one. Tharanga scored his runs off just 159 deliveries with the help of 19 boundaries and three

29

hits over the fence. Jayawardene, on the other hand, faced 112 balls during his century knock. He hit nine fours and two sixes during his innings. Towards the end, captain Mathews played a 29-ball 49-run cameo to help help Sri Lanka get near the 350-run mark. He struck fours boundaries and one six in the process. Sent into bat, Sri Lanka made a quiet start to their innings before Jayawadene and Tharanga opened up. Jayawardene and Tharanga mixed caution with aggression to pile up 47 runs in the first 10 overs.Shami Ahmed, who replaced Bhuveneshwar Kumar, and Umesh Yavad failed to derive any assistance from the low and slow Sabina Park wicket as the Sri Lankan opening duo milked the Indian attack to surge ahead. Jayawardene, who was dropped by Vijay off Jadeja at the personal score of 25, cashed in on the chance and played sensibly thereafter to reach his fifty in 60 balls with the help of four boundaries and one six. Brief Scores: Sri Lanka: 348 for one in 50 overs (Upul THaranga 174 not out, Mahela Jayawardene 107; Ravichandran Ashwin 1/66). India: 187 all out in 44.5 overs (Ravindra Jadeja 49 not out; Rangana Herath 3/37).

By gaining the 12th position last week, you would be quite proud of yourself in attaining such a high ranking within such a short span of time? I am very happy that I am world number 12. I never expected that I would reach the ranking of 12 in the world so soon in my career. I had earlier won the Gold Malaysian Open Grand Prix. I started slowly, reaching the quarter-final and the semifinal stage of tournaments which helped me improve my game. I never aimed for my ranking to improve. For me it is just a game where I have to go out and win. What would be your goal to end the year with? My goal for me at the present is that I want to be in the top ten. So I hope that will definitely happen. There are many tournaments, which are going to take place during this year. There is the World Championship in August that I will be playing for the first time so I hope that goes well for me.

You recently pulled out of the Singapore Open due to a knee injury. How has the road to recovery been? For a player injuries are common. You wouldn’t encounter a player who hasn’t ever been injured. Last time I played the Singapore Open but this time I couldn’t take part. The earlier injury was to my right leg, however, this time it was my left leg. Now I am perfectly alright and I am preparing well since there is just a month to go for the tourney. Now I am fit but by then I will be better.

MUMBAI | THURSDAY, JULY 4, 2013 You made it to a number of quarter-finals and semi-finals recently and had a similar sequence too back in the Asian Badmintion Championship and the India Open. How frustrating was it to be on the losing side? It was the first time I was playing quarters in the Asian Badminton Championship and I defeated Wang Shixian in the pre-quarters and then in the quarterfinal I lost to a Japanese girl. But for me it was for the first time I was playing the quarters after beating a Chinese girl. Even the India Open was a good tournament where I reached the semi-finals. In the initial rounds I had to play against the Chinese players and they are difficult to go past. Everyone expected that Saina Nehwal would feature in the quarter-finals [of the Indian Open] but she lost. For me that was a good tournament as I secured the bronze. Then there was the Malaysian Grand Prix and in that I was the winner and that was the first Grand Prix gold title. So that was a good three weeks for me. The World Championship will be a huge tournament for you. How are the preparations going on? The preparations are going very well. Pullela Gopichand who is my coach has been supporting me very well. The training is bound to be very hard. The Olympic Gold Quest has been supporting me quite a lot and whatever support I need, I get from them.

top ten players. How does it feel to share the burden of expectations with Saina? Saina is a good player and world number three. Till now I haven’t played against her. It was expected that I would play against her. But that didn’t happen as she lost earlier. There is no pressure or burden. People call me the ‘Next Saina’ but for that you need to work hard and come up.

How does it help to have parents as sportspersons in your field? I think it’s good to have parents who have been sportspersons during their era. Everybody can’t have sportspersons as their parents. But I have been lucky to have mom and dad as volleyball players. My father is an Arjuna awardee. They really encourage me when I go and play tournaments or if there is any pressure, they guide me. They tell me my mistakes and how I can improve. So that’s a good thing. How important was the win for your career during the China Masters when you defeated Olympic gold medalist Li Xuerui? Last year I had won against Olympic gold medalist Li Xuerui and that was a big win for me as she was the top ranked player in the women’s singles category. I did win tournaments earlier but this was a big win for me. From there I have got confidence and I have gained a lot of experience. Playing against the top players improved my ranking.

My goal is to break into the top 10 There were huge expectations on Saina Nehwal, since she was the lone competitor in the international circuit taking on the

Do you think the rising number of Indian shuttlers are ending the Chinese invincibility in the world?

INTERVIEW

I think the Chinese players are not really very tough. It’s not that they are not beatable, they are beatable. It also depends who is good on the day. Now we have Saina and with me in the top 15, I feel China’s domination is ending. We have been playing against them in many tournaments and I feel there will be good competition against them.

Indians shuttlers of late have been pulling off big victories with Sai Praneeth B contributing to the Indian win quotient. How do you view the Indians on the badminton circuit? The boys and the girls have been coming up very well in the recent tournaments. The coming years will be good for Indian badminton. We will be rising to the top. You are considered as one of the leading torch bearers for the Brazil Olympics along with Nehwal? How do you see the Olympics? Many people have told me that. Before that we have lots of tournaments. We have the World Championships before that so we should be focusing on that. We have so many Super Series and Grand Prix, so still it’s a long way for 2016. Your height is considered to be an added advantage against the speed of the Chinese. Has it helped in countering their speed? I think it is an advantage and it can also act as a disadvantage. The Chinese players also know it becomes difficult when tall players have to bend when they come close to the net.

What aspects are you looking to improve on before the World Championships? I am looking to improve on my defence. This is a big tournament for me as I will be playing with the top players. So I really need to be very fit to face them.

Pirelli ‘to strengthen tyres’ for German GP at Nurburgring

LONDON: Pirelli is to strengthen its tyres for the German Grand Prix at Nurburgring after a series of dangerous blow-outs at Silverstone led to calls for urgent action, the Italian manufacturer announced on Tuesday. Safety concerns were expressed after Sunday’s British Grand Prix when Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes, Jean-Eric Vergne of Toro Rosso and Sergio Perez of McLaren all suffered blow-outs. In response, Pirelli said they would make the rear tyres’ internal belt with the high-strength synthetic fibre Kevlar instead of the usual steel to reduce temperatures and the risk of punctures.

Bopanna, Sania in mixed doubles quarters L

ONDON: India had a good day in office as Rohan Bopanna secured a quarterfinal berth while Sania Mirza too sealed a place in the last-eight stage with their respective partners in the mixed doubles competition at the Wimbledon here today. However, Mahesh Bhupathi’s campaign ended after losing a fiercely-fought men’s doubles quarter-final along with partner Julian Knowle to top seeded American twins Mike and Bob Bryan. While Bopanna and his Chinese partner Jie Zheng overcame the fighting Swedish-Hungarian duo of Johan Brunstrom and Katalin Marosi 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-1, Sania and Horia Tecau of Romania posted a comfortable 6-1, 7-5 win over Eric Butorac of USA and Alize Cornet of France.

The seventh seeded Bopanna and Zheng took a little less than an hour and a half to get the better of their opponents. Sania and her Romanian partner outplayed the French-American pair in exactly an hour. They would next face the winner of the match between eighth seeded Daniel Nestor and Kristina Mladenovic, and Aisam Qureshi and Cara Black, seeded 10th. Sania and Tecau had an easy outing in the opening set where they converted two out of their three break points to run away with the set in just 17 minutes. In the second set, their opponents posed some threat, but in the end it proved to be a cake-walk for the Indo-Romanian combination. Last night the eighth-seeded Bhupathi and Knowles fought their hearts out before bow-

ing out with a 6-7 (5) 6-7 (3) 6-7 (4) scoreline against one of the best doubles teams in the world, the Bryan brothers. Bhupathi has already exited from the mixed doubles with Slovakian partner Daniela Hantuchova. For Leander Paes, it was a mixed day as he advanced to the men’s doubles semifinals with Czech Radek Stepanek but suffered a tame defeat in the mixed doubles with Chinese partner Saisai Zheng. Paes and Stepanek, seeded fourth, carved out a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 win over 11th seeded Julien Benneteau of France and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia. In the mixed doubles, 15th seventh seeds Paes and Zheng, lost 3-6, 3-6 to unseeded American-French combo of Eric Butorac and Alize Cornet.

Mixed day for Indians at Asian Athletics Championships P

UNE: Shot putter Om Prakash Karhana and long jumper Mayookha Johnny won a bronze each as India began their campaign at the 20th Asian Athletics Championships on a mixed note on a rain-marred opening day here today. Star discus thrower Krishna Poonia finished a disappointing fourth, while another medal prospect and reigning Asian Games gold medallist Preeja Shreedharan also was fourth in women’s 10,000m on a day that saw intermittent rain, affecting the performance of athletes at Shiv Chhatrapati Stadium at Balewadi here. Om Prakash, who was struggling all throughout the season, hurled the iron ball to a distance of 19.45 in his second attempt, his season’s best though it was more than one meter outside his national record of 20.09m, to give India the first medal of the Champi-

onships. Asian record holder Sultan Abdulmajeed Alheb of Saudi Arabia bagged the gold with a throw of 19.68m, which he achieved in his fifth and penultimate attempt. Season leader Chang Ming-Huang of Chinese Taipei was second with an effort of 19.61m.

This was Om Prakash’s third medal in the Asian Championships. He had won a gold in 2009 in Guangzhou and bagged a bronze in 2011 in Kobe, Japan. The Indian began well with a throw of 19.18m that put him second behind MingHuang after the opening round. The Indian was second after the fourth round behind Abdulmajeed but Ming-Huang produced an effort of 19.61m in the fifth round to seal the silver. Two other Indians, Inderjeet Singh and Satyendra Singh finished fourth and eighth with throws of 19.31m and 18.01m, respectively on the opening day. The opening day also saw organisational glitches with two scoreboards malfunctioning and results of the women’s discus throw coming out more than half an hour after the event finished.
