LIONSTEEL THE KING OF ATLANTA With more than a 1000 exhibitors coming from more than 20 countries, the BLADE SHOW is the most important worldwide event for the knife arena. Once again, we are going to give you an overview of these three days in Atlanta, that saw Kur Metamorphosis by Lionsteel as the best knife of the year from our reporter Tommaso Rumici
Aside the two sporting knives seen in Nuremberg - AM2 by Morotti and the Police designed by Lilin, at the Maserin stand were also displayed the new mother-pearl and carbon versions of the miniature 707, with simple spring lock and stainless steel damascus blades Lionsteel was granted with the "Overall Knife of the Year" award with its Kur Metamorphosis. In the picture, the new bushcrafting fixed knife with a M390 blade, available with handles in G10, olive-tree, cocobolo or walnut. New is also the titanium and carbon or titanium and damascus pen. One of its characteristics is its extreme contained thickness. There are seven versions and all carr y a M390 blade Wander Tactical, on its first abroad show, has received and excellent welcome on the American soil. This is the Uro (Boss Taurus) Tactical, with a black micarta handle and etched blade coated with a transparent G u n Ko t e . I t w i l l be available in its hunting version, with a brown handle

The folder by Hogue is called X5 and sports a Wharncliffe or a spear point blade, and you can choose between a s t o n ew a s h e d o r a b l a c k C e r a ko t e finishing. The design is by Elishewitz and it is a buttonlock, matched w i t h a f l i p p e r fo r a fast opening. The handles are in aluminum and G10. And it also comes in an automatic version
The Esee Ter tiar y has been designed for personal defense, both for civilian and police officers. A ver y thick powder coating avoids unwanted glares, and the molded sheath with a beltclip ensures a safe carry with any type of clothing. Eventually, Microtech fan can cook with blades up to the standards of their passion: the c o m p a ny h a s j u s t presented its new dedicated series t h a t i n c l u d e s t wo c h e f , a u t i l i t y, a paring and a cleaver. They are made of a single piece of M390 which is DLC coated and soon they may also come in a knife block
C h r i s R e eve , w h o wo n t h i s ye a r t h e Manifacturing Quality Award, has presented an unseen large version of his Inkosi. In the picture it has been caught together with its s t a n d a rd r d ve r s i o n , in the rarely seen v a r i a t i o n fo r le f tthanded. The steel used is the Cpm S35VN Two versions of the XM-18 framelock by Rick Hinderer. The handles, embellished with the knifemaker logo, are in titanium just like the screws. The top one has a Harpoon like blade, where as the bottom one is a Bowie. The steel is Cpm S35VN and the grindings are custom
T h e m o d e l s belonging to the BK series by Kabar have a solid reputation as robust working tools, and the same reputation is translated in the new BK-20 Bundok and BK-21Hank Reinhardt Kukri. The Mission MPK12-Ti, better known as the “the Seal knife� is again available after few ye a r s i n w h i c h i t was difficult to find. Aside the mythical black model with a combo titanium blade, there are also the plain version of the blade and with a highly visible handle Steel Will wants to widen its array of foldable EDC as clearly testifies the display of prototypes brought to the Blade Sho ow. w. These two folders by Brous Blades h ave i n c o m m o n the abundance of winding lines that alternate without interruptions. The bigger one is the Parallax, where as the smaller is called R a zo r b a c k . T h e s e are two titanium framelock with a flipper; the blade is i n D 2 o n t wo b a l l bearings Ta k i n g a l o o k a t the folders by We K n i f e C o. i t ' s clear that some Chinese producers have reached a c e r t a i n e l ev a t i o n . Quite amazing the Dragon Scale, with violet anodizedchips scales, the 601 model is slightly more westernized. Both carry Cpm S35VN blades

D It's common to hear that it is impossible to be liked by everyone, but Viper Italo wants to give it a shot. It's a perfect mix between an exclusive design, state-of-the-art materials and precise machining. It is able to be an elegant and a sporting knife at the same time by Giorgio Alessandri

1. Viper Italo is a strange knife. It is able to overcome the typical distinction between elegant and sporting knives thanks to the perfect alchemy of design, state of the art materials and well-crafted finishing
uring the last Iwa Show in N u r e m b e r g , Vi p e r p r e s e n t e d i t s n e w f o l d e r : I t a l o. D e s i g n e d b y Fa b r i z i o S i l v e s t r e l l i , t h e n e w model not only wants to satisfy the expectations of the brand aficionado, but takes a step further. This folder is capable of overcoming t h e t y p i c a l d i ch o t o my t h at s t a n d s between the so called gentleman’s knives and the sporting folder ones.
The result is that both parties end up being satisfied. The secret? A perfect blend of impeccable design, cuttingedge materials, refined details and real usability. Italo is a knife that is likable to look at as well as to use. For the fir st time in the production lines of the manufacturer, the blade u s e s t h e B Ăś h l e r M 3 9 0 M i c ro cl e a n for the blade. It's a well-known steel that stands out for its high resistance

2. When closed, the Italo has winding and regular lines lacking bulges and live-edges that may annoy during its carry. The only limit is set by the dimensions, not urban proper but exactly perfect on a practical point of view. Our sample, still a pre-production one, is the frame-lock version.Take a look at the two screws that secure the steel insert on the extremity of the spring. When the knife is closed, the bottom quillon protrudes and acts as a flipper

the blade will wear out more slowly compared to the titanium. It also integrates an appendix that avoids the laminate to be stressed by limiting its movement. The shape of the handle is comfortable, clean and thin. The lateral surfaces are embellished with thin well-crafted millings, that create interesting light/dark patterns that also add a nice grip. The opening is very quick, thanks to the use of the b a l l - b e a r i n g s , m at ch e d w i t h s t e e l washers that enhance the sliding and protect from the dirt.
It is operated with a pressure of the index on the lower milled quillon, t h a t , w h e n t h e k n i f e i s cl o s e d , i t protrudes and acts as flipper, or of the thumb on the drop-shaped opening plate, anchored on the spine of the blade via two Torx screws. Th i s l a s t d e t a i l s s u m s u p t h e c a re and attention to detail of Viper, that, together with Silvestrelli, has managed to transform a necessary element in a precious and exclusive detail. As usual, Viper offers various versions, on all the blade is satin, and is matched to carbon fiber or black, orange or 4. As the materials used are very ro b u s t , t h e i n n e r liners are useless. So, the two scales are just separated by an anodized titanium spacer where the clip wil be secured

3. Viper and Silvestrelli managed to transform a necessary element, like the opening plate, in a precious detail that does not unsettle the knife aesthetics, on the contrary, it gives character by adding a refined touch
to wear-out and corrosion, which is tempered at no risk to high levels of hardness, able to offer extraordinary cutting capabilities and a long-lasting s h a r p n e s s . Th e o u t l i n e r e m i n d s a b i t o f t h e Vi p e r Ti m e l e s s , a n o t h e r masterpiece by Fabrizio Silvestrelli, but from which it differ s for the absence of the swedge. Unexpectedly, this new folder is available in two versions: frame-lock and liner-lock.
Th e o n e p r e s e n t e d i n t h i s a r t i cl e belongs to the fir st categor y, and is par t of the pre-production samples d i s p l aye d at N u r e m b e r g , a s t h e production is on-going. We therefore assume that the production series will differ from these just for few small details. The lock is solid and promises to last long thanks to the steel plate s c r e we d o n t h e i n n e r s i d e o f t h e spring, that by being in contact with

which are perfect from a practical point of view, but excessive for an e v e r y - d a y - c a r r y, a t l e a s t h e r e i n Italy. For tunately, Viper offer s other alternatives as well interesting. Aside t h e o c c a s i o n s we s h a l l d e c i d e t o carry our Italo, it can be comfortably carried thanks to the clip, which is robust and simple which makes the knife disappear in the pocket. Should we look for a quicker extraction, it will be enough to secure the lanyard in the specific hole.

Tutti i miei coltelli sono pezzi unici realizzati a mano. Creando ognuno dei mei modelli, cerco di dare loro qualità ,essenzialità, funzionalità e bellezza per a scelta dei materiali. Dopo vengono la cesellatura, la scolpitura, gli intàrsi massicci e infine l’incisione. Questo per rendere l’opera finita come un gioiello. Creo coltelli con passione da circa 40 anni. Costruisce coltelli pieghevoli con movimento Liner-lock e Lock-Back, bilama con doppio movimento a pompa e coltelli a lama fissa. Caratteristica distintiva è il design lineare e l’eleganza delle impugnature. Nel corso degli anni si è specializzato nella colorazione del damasco mosaico. L'Atelier du couteau, aperto nel 1995 ad Ajaccio, è stato ristrutturato da Christine Broudin e Pasquale Grisoni, che nell'aprile 2012 hanno ricreato un spazio lussuoso e raffinato. È una vetrina dedicata alla coltelleria artigianale corsa e internazionale. Gli amanti della caccia, della cucina, e dei coltelli custom vi possono trovare sia una gamma d'industriali di qualità sia pezzi eccezionali creati dai più grandi nomi della coltelleria.
