Culter Expo 2016 On the 5th and 6th of November, at the Parco esposizioni Novegro (Mi) it has been hosted the 13th edition of the “Culter Expo�, right at the same time of the 60th edition of the Militalia show. The show reunited, in a dedicated area, cutleries, resellers of materials and craftsmen for the joy of all the enthusiasts. KIR was there for you by Tommaso Rumici (PArt One)
Maxblade displayed a very ample selection of the best brands of the world-wide cutlery. In this picture, the Cold Steel Srk in its VG-1 San Mai version and, under it, the CRKT Clever Girl, designed by Austin McGlaun
Valhalla Express has recently started to import multi-tools by Multitasker, designed for the maintenance of weapons, especially for the AR15 system. In the picture, the last version of the series 3 pliers, and the Twist multi-tool, in a practical pen-shaped design
Even if this is just the second folder by Manuele Messori, it's already a mature creation, both from a design and a mechanical point of view. The blade is in Hr1095 with a differentiated Dlc treatment tempering. The handle is in 420, carbon fiber and titanium, with a liner-lock system

This imposing fixed blade by Corrado Gianferrari holds a twisted damascus blade. After the guard, which is in brass, the handle is an alternation of micarta, leather, synthetic and nickel silver spacers with an ending in polished bronze
Very desirable is the small utility inspired by Loveless and signed by Claudio Tortorella. The blade is a drop point in 440c mirror-polished, where as the handle is in sambar deer antler, secured by two flat rivets and a go-through tube
Among the many products displayed by Scintilla Cutlery, here is the new Bรถker Caracal folder, designed by Boris Manasherov. Extremely solid, thanks to the steel structure and G10 scales, it stands out for its perfect maneuverability. Also the blade convinced us, it's in D2 with a stonewashed finishing and it rotates on ball bearings
It's impossible not to find the right product in the infinite K-Steel selection: steel, handle materials, small-wares or the necessary to create a sheath, they are all there! Soon, new types of steel will be available

Pietro Mondadori doesn't care for the trivialities: his style is rustic and practical, which preserves the appeal of tools of past centuries. Blade and guard are in C70 steel, whereas the handle is in walnut-wood, secured by a metallic pin. On the back there is the leather sheath
One of the news at the LC cutlery stand were the small blocks of epoxy resins by Metapol, which are colored and characterized by complex patterns of metallic, aluminum or bronze inclusions to reach unique aesthetic effects
Fra Diavolo is renown for his magnificent reproductions of antique knives. In Novegro he showed us this pointy Molisano, with a C70 blade a bovine-horn handle, finely decorated with brass and silver details
A sport jack-of-all-trades by Mattia Orlandi, compact and a prevailing acid-green, found on the G10 scales and on the Kydex sheath. The blade is in ATS34, with a vertical satin finishing on the bevels, and horizontal on the flat areas

At the Mastro Livi's stand there was a barber-shop where visitors could benefit from an exclusive shaving session carried out by two experts of the Italian tradition: Alberto Bottini and Piero Migliacci. Here you can see Bottini shaving using half of an extremely sharp cobalt stainless steel scissors
For this fixed blade, Giuseppe Pala has chosen a simple handle, made of ostrich bone, that won't distract the eye from the various contrasts of the blade made of 3-bars damascus - his own creation. Guard and the backward area are made of a light pattern damascus, which matches the other components perfectly
Saturday you could admire Andrea Longagnani while he was engraving. This was the year for Celso Fiocchi's folder, with antler scales which have been embellished with a delicate night scene, with an Asian inspiration
As usual, Art Metal Reggio, owned by Paolo Benassi, displayed an ample selection of damascus bars of his own creation, characterized by a great variety of designs

Simply extraordinary the mosaic damascus by Luca Pizzi, which has been employed on this exclusive free-hand razor, sporting these imposing racing horses. The damascus is in nickel, K720 and iron, and the cutting-edge is in K720
During Sunday, Brian Hoffner (www.hoffners. com), on the left in the picture, has been hosted by the Collini cutlery, where he has explained us the peculiarities of his combat knives
These two liner-lock folders by Angelo Cattaneo differ in design, but share the same materials. The blades are in damascus by Quartini, likewise the bolsters, and the handle is made of two mammoth scales, secured to the liners with stainless steel screws.
Gianni Donelli's fixed blade sports pointy and streamlined outlines and it's derived from a single damascus bar by Feltresi. The handle is in hippopotamus tooth and has no quillons. The knife comes in with a camel sheath

Andrea Zanacchi, knifemaker and knife collector, brought to the show a wonderful Randall n°8 from the sixties, with handle in sambar deer. It's an “S”, meaning a variation of the blade in 440B stainless steel
Aside the usual characters wearing uniforms, this year we were in the presence also of Medieval figures. In the picture, Elena from the Fere Aequalis di Bologna acting company, specialized in the recreation of the rich bourgeois life-style of the second half of the fourteenth century
Simone Tonolli is a young and promising knifemaker of Malnate, a village in the Varese province. It's quite possible we will hear about him soon, at least judging by the manner his "il notturno" fixed blade has been crafted. The blade is San Mai damascus and with a K720 cutting edge, a guard in antiqued brass and a tinted maplebrier-wood
The imposing sub-hilt by Livio Montagna has managed to wonderfully comply to the classical standards of the category. The cutting edge is in Rwl, and the bolsters are in 416. The handle is completed by scales in fossil-ivory and secured with two elegant protruding stainless steel pins

Roberto Giurisato has realized a light fixed, both in its design - free of useless frills, and in weight - thanks to the unloaded tang. The blade is in Bรถhler N690Co, with a two-third swedge. Scales are in giraffe bone, with two mosaic pins
Collini Cutlery has presented an even more exclusive version of its Ti-Rock folder, produced in collaboration with Extrema Ratio. On this special model, the blade is in San Mai CoS from the Japanese Takefu Steel. The titanium handles are black, silver or azure: each color will be produced in only 33 pieces
Eye-catching as well as elegant, in spite of the generous dimensions, Ruggero Bontacchio's fixed blade sports four-bars twisted damascus with a tinted maple-brier-wood handle. In the middle a thick brass guard, finely engraved
Wander Tactical has recently created a new version neck knife of the well-known Triceratops. The dimensions are even more compact, and suitable to be carried at the neck. The blade is in D2, the scales of this model in the picture are in black micarta, secured with flaring small tubes

During the two days, the Majistro Re amateur sport association gave demonstration of fencing techniques of the historical period between 1200 and 1800. These techniques were recreated by studying the essays of such period. Majistro Re can be found in Milan, Vigevano, Parma, Piacenza, Fidenza, Bassano and Florence
The lively and gritty style of Adriano "Vassago" Donzelli is represented by a HR1095 blade, with partial rough sides and with a handle n hybridwood. Before entering the handle, the tang passes through 304 416 and titanium details
This elegant folder by Benedetto Novi, with the truncated CPM154 blade, is perfect for a daily use. The handle is in mammoth molar, with fossil-ivory bolsters. Between the two liners in MA5M there is a click and action pump locking system
The veins in the handle in tinted pear-wood of the fixed blade by Camillo Silvano look like they flow into the San mai damascus blade, which is the result of the union of K720 and K600. Also, the small oval-shaped guard is in damascus, and is separated from the wood by thin synthetic spacers

Even the area reserved to the Militaria, you could find and buy many knives. Some had really unapproachable prices, others, instead, were in a more leveled range of prices, like these vintage army multitool

Coltelli artigianali tipici della tradizione sarda. Lavorazione sui rustici unica nel suo genere. Le lame durante tale tratttamento vengono testate con durometro professionale A200 della Galileo. Trattamento sottozero con eliminazione dell’ austenite residua per miglioramento durezza e resistenza all’ usura. Trattamento criogenico per miglioramento durezza, resistenza all’usura, resilienza.

Lame con i migliori acciai per resistenza all'usura. INOX : CPM S 125V; CPM S 110V, CPM S 90V, Cowry X ( ZDP 189 ), M 390. NON INOX : CPM 15V, CPM 10V, Vanadis 10. K 390. VANAX 75, VANAX 35; acciai ad alta tecnologia Uddeholm che utilizzano l' azoto al posto del carbonio.

Coltellinaio diventato Maesto della Corporazione Italiana Coltellinai nel giugno 2007. Costruisce coltelli pieghevoli con movimento Liner-lock e Lock-Back, bilama con doppio movimento a pompa e coltelli a lama fissa. Caratteristica distintiva è il design lineare e l’eleganza delle impugnature. Nel corso degli anni si è specializzato nella colorazione del damasco mosaico. Ogni coltello è dotato di proprio fodero o bustina in cuoio di alta qualità.
