NEW EXPE RIEN CES! I’m sitting indolently on a big leather couch lost in my thoughts. When was the last time I fell in love with a place? As the neurons in my brain activate, I recall images of beloved memories… A chic café in Paris with a view of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, a modern sushi restaurant in Knightsbridge, London, a fancy nightclub by the Bosporus in Istanbul. Είμαι νωχελικά καθισμένη σε έναν μεγάλο, δερμάτινο καναπέ, βυθισμένη στις σκέψεις μου. Ποια ήταν η τελευταία φορά που ερωτεύθηκα έναν τόπο; Καθώς οι νευρώνες του εγκεφάλου μου ενεργοποιούνται, ανασύρω εικόνες από αγαπημένες αναμνήσεις... Ένα σικάτο café στο Παρίσι με θέα στη Saint Germain des Pres, ένα μοντέρνο εστιατόριο σούσι στο Knightsbridge του Λονδίνου, ένα χλιδάτο κλαμπ επάνω στον Βόσπορο στην Κωνσταντινούπολη. Έλενα Δημηροπούλου εικαστικός Μεγάλωσε στο Φάληρο όπου πρόλαβε να απολαύσει το παιχνίδι στις αυλές των μονοκατοικιών, λίγο πριν κατεδαφιστούν. Αργότερα, μετακόμισε με την οικογένεια της στη περιοχή της Σοφούλη, όπου κατοικεί μέχρι και σήμερα. Όταν χρειάστηκε να λείψει από τη Θεσσαλονίκη, η παραλία ήταν το μέρος που νοστάλγησε περισσότερο. Πλέον τη διασχίζει καθημερινά για να κατέβει στην εργασία της. Απολαμβάνει το περπάτημα στο παραθαλάσσιο μέτωπο όλες τις ώρες της ημέρας, όλες τις εποχές. Τα πρωινά, ειδικά όταν η θάλασσα είναι ήσυχη, με τον Όλυμπο απέναντι. Το μεσημέρι, καθώς πλησιάζει προς το κέντρο της πόλης, που ο κόσμος πολλαπλασιάζεται: τουρίστες, φοιτητές, περαστικοί, όλοι θέλουν να απολαύσουν τη φιέστα της! Η πιο μαγική εικόνα όμως είναι το ηλιοβασίλεμα του Θερμαϊκού. Όταν έχει και σύννεφα, ο ορίζοντας γεμίζει πύρινα, βαθυκόκκινα χρώματα. Το αγαπημένο της σημείο στην πόλη είναι ένα μονοπάτι δίπλα στο σπίτι της, που βγάζει στην παραλία του Κελάριου όρμου (ακτή Σοφούλη) και θυμίζει εξοχή, με βάρκες και ενα παγκάκι για να χαζεύουν οι ρομαντικοί τη θάλασσα. Άλλη αγαπημένη διαδρομή είναι η Λεωφόρος Βασιλίσσης Όλγας, γνωστή και ως συνοικία των Εξοχών. Ξεχωρίζουν εδώ ως μικρές «οάσεις» οι ελάχιστες επαύλεις που σώζονται χτισμένες με τα πρότυπα του εκλεκτισμού, όπως η Casa Bianca, η Βίλα Αλλατίνι, η Βίλα Καπατζή και η Έπαυλη Μοδιάνο, πλέον Λαογραφικό Μουσείο. Μια λεωφόρος που θυμίζει την παλιά Θεσσαλονίκη πριν αλλοτριωθεί από τις επόμενες γενιές. 16 16 16

Elena Dimiropoulou visual artist She grew up in Faliro, where she managed to enjoy playing in the yards of detached houses, before they were demolished. Later, she moved with her family to the area of Sofouli Street, where she still resides. When she had to leave Thessaloniki, the seafront was the place she missed the most. Nowadays, she traverses it daily on her way to work. She enjoys walking on the coastal front any time of the day, during all seasons. In the mornings, especially when the sea is calm, Mount Olympus is visible across the sea. At noon, as she approaches the city center, people multiply. Tourists, students, passersby, all want to enjoy its fiesta! But the most magical scene is the sunset in the Thermaic Gulf. When it is cloudy, the horizon feels with burning, deep red colours. Her favourite place in the city is a path next to her home, which leads to the Kellarios Bay Coast (Sofouli Coast) and reminds you of the countryside, with boats and a bench for the romantics to gaze at the sea. Another favourite route is Vasilissis Olgas Avenue, also known as the Countryside District. Here, they stand out like oases, the few mansions built according to the standards of eclecticism which survive today. Buildings like Casa Bianca, Allatini Villa, Kapatzi Villa and Modiano Villa, which has now turned into the Folklife and Ethnological Museum. It is an avenue which brings memories of the old Thessaloniki, before it got alienated by the following generations. 17 17 17

Ίνγκο Ντούνεμπιρ φωτογράφος Ήρθε στη Θεσσαλονίκη το 1987 από τη Γερμανία και από την αρχή ονειρευόταν ένα σπίτι στην Άνω Πόλη. Η αγαπημένη του διαδρομή ξεκινά από το Τσινάρι, ανεβαίνοντας τη Δημητρίου Πολιορκητού μέχρι την Πλατεία Τσιτσάνη και ύστερα, μπαίνοντας στην ακρόπολη, τα Kάστρα, στη συνέχεια μέχρι το Γεντί-Κουλέ και το βυζαντινό φρούριο Επταπύργιο. Είναι από τις διαδρομές στις οποίες δεν χάνεσαι, απλά ανεβαίνεις στο υψηλότερο σημείο της πόλης. Από τα πιο ενδιαφέροντα σημεία είναι η οδός Μπουμπουλίνας με τη θεαματική της κατηφόρα. Μια γλυκιά ανάμνηση που έχει είναι από τον χειμώνα του 1988, που είχε χιονίσει πολύ και κατέβαινε στο κέντρο καθισμένος τσουλώντας επάνω σε πλαστικές σακούλες! Σημαντικά ιστορικά κτίσματα είναι τα σπίτια των προσφύγων της Μικρασιατικής καταστροφής, τα λεγόμενα Καστρόπληκτα που είχαν κτιστεί κατά μήκος του τείχους της Άνω Πόλης. Επίσης, αξίζει κανείς να επισκεφθεί τον ναό του Αγίου Νικολάου του Ορφανού που κτίστηκε τον 14ο αιώνα, με τον κήπο του να αποτελεί ένα μοναδικό ησυχαστήριο. Επίσης, το Αλατζά Ιμαρέτ, το πολύχρωμο τζαμί από τα πρώτα χρόνια της τουρκοκρατίας. Παρόλο που οι περισσότερες μονοκατοικίες αντικαταστάθηκαν από τριώροφα σπίτια, η Άνω Πόλη παραμένει μια γραφική γειτονιά. Επιστρέφοντας εδώ από τη βαβούρα του κέντρου, δεν αργεί κανείς να αφεθεί στη γαλήνη που του προσφέρει και να απολαύσει την έντονη μυρωδιά των λουλουδιών, που αναδύεται από τους κήπους των περισσότερων κατοικιών. 18 18 18
He came to Thessaloniki from Germany in 1987, and since the beginning, he dreamed of a house in the Upper City. His favourite route starts from Tsinari. It goes up Dimitriou Poliorkitou Street all the way to Tsitsani Square. It enters the acropolis, the Castles, and continues up to Yedi Kule and the Byzantine Eptapyrgio Fortress. It is one of the routes in which you can’t get lost, you just ascent to the highest spot in the city. One of the most interesting places is Bouboulinas Street, with its spectacular slope. One sweet memory of his, comes from the winter of 1988, when there had been a heavy snowfall, and he used to slide down to the city center on plastic bags! Some important historical buildings are the Asia Minor refugees’ houses, the so called Kastroplikta, which had been built along the Upper City wall. The Church of Saint Nicholas Orphanos, which was built in the 14th century, is also worth visiting, with its garden being a unique retreat. There is, also, Alaja Imaret, the colourful mosque built in the early years of the Turkish rule. Although most detached houses were replaced by three-storey houses, the Upper City is still a picturesque neighborhood. Returning here from the noise in the center, one doesn’t take long to let themselves go to the offered peacefulness and enjoy the intense scent of the flowers, coming from the gardens of most dwellings.

Ράνια Εμμανουηλίδου εικαστικός Ζει στο κέντρο, σε ένα διατηρητέο κτίριο του 1929, στην οδό Καρόλου Ντηλ. Ένας αστικός θρύλος λέει πως στην πολυκατοικία της βρισκόταν το πατρικό σπίτι μιας ελληνίδας σταρ του παλιού ελληνικού κινηματογράφου, της Ζωή Λάσκαρη. Το εργαστήριό της βρίσκεται στην Γεωργίου Σταύρου εδώ και 15 χρόνια. Από τα λίγα σημεία του κέντρου που θυμίζουν τις παλιές γειτονιές, αφού στον πεζόδρομο μπορείς να δεις ακόμα παιδιά να παίζουν και παρέες να συζητούν στα παγκάκια. Η γειτονιά της είναι ένα κομμάτι του ιστορικού κέντρου της Θεσσαλονίκης και περιλαμβάνει πολλά δείγματα της χαρακτηριστικής εκλεκτικιστικής αρχιτεκτονικής της πόλης αλλά και αρκετά ιστορικά μνημεία, όπως είναι το Κόκκινο Σπίτι και η εκκλησία Αγία Σοφία. Ένα από τα αγαπημένα της σοκάκια είναι η οδός Παπαμάρκου στην πλατεία Άθωνος. Εδώ μπορεί κανείς να συναντήσει παραδοσιακούς τεχνίτες που ασχολούνται με το ξύλο, μια πολύ ζωντανή αγορά εδώδιμων αποικιακών και εργαστήρια σύγχρονων δημιουργών. Η πόλη, λόγω της πολυπολιτισμικής ιστορίας της, μπορεί να ικανοποιήσει και τον πιο απαιτητικό επισκέπτη. Μία αγαπημένη της διαδρομή είναι, κατηφορίζοντας προς το λιμάνι, να περνά από τον ιστορικό κινηματογράφο Ολύμπιον. Μέσα στο λιμάνι, στις Αποθήκες, στεγάζονται ενδιαφέροντα μουσεία, το Κέντρο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης, σχεδιασμένο από τον Στέργιο Δελιαλή για να γίνει Μουσείο Design και ακριβώς απέναντι το Μουσείο Φωτογραφίας. Από το καφέ του μπορεί κανείς να γευτεί από ψηλά τη μαγεία του Θερμαϊκού, έχοντας στα πόδια του την πόλη.

Rania Emmanouilidou visual artist She lives in the city center, in a listed building of 1929, on Karolou Dil Street. An urban legend says that in her apartment building was the parental home of the Greek old cinema star Zoi Laskari. Her workshop has been housed on Georgiou Stavrou Street for the past 15 years. It is one of the few places in the city center which resembles the old neighborhoods, since on the walkway you can still see children playing and groups of friends talking on the benches. Her neighborhood is a part of the historic center of Thessaloniki and contains many specimens of the distinctive eclecticism in the architecture of the city, as well as many historical monuments, like the Red House and the Church of Agia Sophia. One of her favourite alleys is Papamarkou Street in Athonos Square. Here, one can meet traditional craftsmen who work with wood, find a very busy market of edible products coming from old European colonies and some modern creators’ workshops. Because of its multicultural history, the city can satisfy even the most demanding visitor. One of her favourite routes is passing by the Olympion Cinema, as she walks her way to the harbor. Housed inside the harbor, in the Warehouses, are interesting museums, the Contemporary Art Center, designed by Stergios Delialis to become a Design Museum, and right across the Museum of Photography. From its cafeteria, one can taste the magic of the Thermaic Gulf from high above, with the city at their feet.

Φτάνοντας εκεί, αξίζει να περπατήσει κανείς παράλληλα με τα τείχη, να χαζέψει τα παλιά σπίτια με την ιδιαίτερη αρχιτεκτονική σε μοναστηριακό ύφος, όπου κάθε σπίτι έχει διαφορετικό χρώμα, συνθέτοντας στο σύνολο έναν υπέροχο καμβά. Στα δεξιά της πύλης εισόδου υπάρχει ένα ξέφωτο, όπου η πόλη απλώνεται μπροστά σου, ο Θερμαϊκός κόλπος «γεμίζει» με μπλε τη ματιά σου και συνήθως διακρίνεις τη χιονισμένη κορυφή του Ολύμπου. Αυτή η θέα πάντα με καλεί και με σαγηνεύει». «Στον επισκέπτη θα πρότεινα να δοκιμάσει και μια άλλη βόλτα στο κέντρο της πόλης. Μου αρέσει ως σημείο αφετηρίας η εκκλησία της Αγίας Σοφίας που έχει ανοιχτωσιά και υπέροχη θέα από τη μία στη θάλασσα και ακριβώς απέναντι στο αναπαλαιωμένο Μέγαρο Λόγγου - γνωστό ως το «Κόκκινο σπίτι», δείγμα της αρχιτεκτονικής που κυριαρχούσε στα κτίρια της πόλης τα παλιά χρόνια. Ο περίπατος συνεχίζει στην Ερμού και από εκεί στην Πλατεία Αριστοτέλους, όπου πάντα νιώθω τον ίδιο ενθουσιασμό στην ανοιχτωσιά που συναντάνε τα μάτια μου, όταν το βλέμμα ανοίγει στην Πλατεία και χαϊδεύει τα πανέμορφα κτίρια! Στη συνέχεια υψώνεται προς τα Κάστρα όπου συναντάει το πράσινο του Σέιχ Σου και επιστρέφοντας πάλι στην Πλατεία, νιώθω μία έντονη παρόρμηση να αντικρίσω τη θάλασσα. Αυτή η 360ο ματιά είναι ανεκτίμητη!»

I like to start from the church of Aghia Sophia, where there is plenty of open space and a wonderful view. There is the sea, and across the street, there is the restored Loggou Estate, known as the “Red House”. It’s a specimen of the architecture that dominated the city buildings in the old times. The walk continues on Ermou Street up to Aristotelous Square, where I always feel the same excitement when my eyes meet the open space, and the gaze feasts on the square and caresses the beautiful buildings! Then, it turns up towards the Castles, where it meets the green of the Seich Sou Forest. As it returns back to the square, I feel an intense impulse to look at the sea. On the other side, visit Grigoriou Palama Street with its small café-bars and restaurants, and Proxenou Koromila Street, where you can find exceptional labels of design and shopping. For the art lovers, my favourite galleries are on Paleon Patron Germanou Street and on Filippou Street”. “Over the last years, the rooftops of the buildings near the harbor and on Valaoritou Street have been put to good use. So, there are plenty of choices among rooftop bars, some quite alternative, others more modern, but all of them are under the city starry sky!” Three things a tourist must definitely do in the city: º Visit the Archaeological Museum to see the permanent and temporary exhibitions. º Take a walk in the area of Sofouli Street and Nea Krini to enjoy a drink or a meal in one of the restaurants and the taverns in the east part of Thessaloniki, next to the sea, with a wonderful view of the city. º See the unique in colours sunset on the Seafront.

Among the last fashion shows that Karl Lagerfeld revised as the creative director of Chanel was the 2019 Spring Summer show for his ready-to-wear collection. The late designer transformed his favourite Grand Palais into a tropical beach, with the models walking barefoot on a catwalk-sandy beach, against the cliché that associates catwalks with high heels. Reviving Coco’s myth about feminine liberation, he reminded the global scene how powerful is non extravagant natural elegance. Iconic features of the house, like tweed fabric and A line, were combined with modern touches, plenty of chains and double… bags, and the result was simply striking!

We start with Karl Langerfeld’s successor, who was his assistant for three decades, Virginie Viard, who took Chanel’s designing driver’s seat and witnessed her popularity exploding in one night! Note that she is the first woman creative director after Gabrielle Chanel herself. The unique and super elegant Simon Porte Jacquemus follows a great course, offering something special and new to the scene, while the more discreet Virgil Abloh, founder of the Off-White brand and creative director of the Louis Vuitton men’s line, is known for his minimal, yet modern design character. ions xhibitmeets EFashion Art Στο μουσείο Victoria & Albert στο Λονδίνο “τρέχει” έως την 1/9 η φαντασμαγορική έκθεση “Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams”, όπου οι τυχεροί επισκέπτες απολαμβάνουν μια αναδρομή στην ιστορία του θρυλικού οίκου, μέσα από κομμάτια υψηλής ραπτικής του ίδιου του ιδρυτή αλλά και όλων των καλλιτεχνικών διευθυντών που τον διαδέχθηκαν έως σήμερα. Την έκθεση πλαισιώνει πλούσιο υλικό από το προσωπικό αρχείο του Christian Dior. Στο ίδιο μουσείο, στις 21/9, θα ξεκινήσει μια έκθεση-ρετροσπεκτίβα αφιερωμένη στον σπουδαίο Tim Walker, έναν από τους πιο πρωτοποριακούς φωτογράφους της γενιάς του. The Victoria & Albert Museum in London is hosting the spectacular exhibition “Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams” until September 1, where the lucky visitors enjoy a throwback in the history of the legendary house, through high fashion items by its own founder and all the creative directors that succeeded him up to date. The exhibition also features many items from Christian Dior’s personal record. The same museum, on September 21, will host a retrospective exhibition dedicated to the great Tim Walker, one of the most innovative photographers of his generation. The exhibits include new frames inspired by V&A’s permanent collection. Next stop outside of Europe, in the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in Canada. There, the exhibition “Thierry Mugler: Couturissime”, dedicated to the famous French designer with the particular futuristic vision, reminding of couture super heroines and ultra chic cyborgs, will be hosted until autumn.

Δεν είναι καθόλου εύκολο να ταξιδεύει κάνεις με μικρά παιδιά. Πρέπει να οπλιστεί με μπόλικο κουράγιο και υπομονή! Χρειάζεται καλή οργάνωση, έξυπνο πακετάρισμα και προνοητικότητα. Όμως, αξίζει πραγματικά τον κόπο, καθώς ακόμη και η επιστήμη έρχεται να επιβεβαιώσει αυτό που όλοι γνωρίζουμε από τα παιδικά μας χρόνια: αυτές είναι οι στιγμές που θα μείνουν βαθιά χαραγμένες στην καρδιά και το μυαλό των παιδιών μας!

Travels develop children’s perceptual ability, concentration and intellect. They open a window to another reality, where parents have the time and disposition to talk, play and do simple everyday things with their children. Time goes by differently on vacation. Journeys make us more mature; they give us joy, new stimuli, food for thought. Generally, they strengthen family ties and offer memories that children, based upon researches, consider among the happiest moments of their lives. So, I would advise parents not to spend their money on too expensive clothes and toys and “invest” in travels, instead. Kids need you much more than material things. Make a plan that includes kid-friendly activities, choose destinations that will relax you and, above all, follow your children’s pace. Without too much stress, let things flow on their own, and everything will work out fine!

Έχει ήδη παρουσιάσει τρεις δισκογραφικές δουλειές, πλήθος εμφανίσεων σε εμβληματικούς συναυλιακούς χώρους και συνεργασίες με διεθνώς καταξιωμένους καλλιτέχνες. Ο ευρηματικός μουσικός έχει καταφέρει να κλέψει τις εντυπώσεις χάρη στην πρωτοτυπία και τη δημιουργικότητά του. Φέτος, μέσα από τα “Rooftop Stories”, ταξιδεύει με τη μουσική του στις ταράτσες του κόσμου, και από τους σταθμούς του δεν θα μπορούσε να λείπει η Θεσσαλονίκη, για την οποία μιλάει με πάθος.
He has already presented three record projects, he has appeared many times in iconic concert halls, and has a plethora of collaborations with internationally established artists. The ingenious musician has managed to cause a sensation thanks to his originality and creativeness. This year, through the “Rooftop Stories”, he is travelling with his music through the rooftops of the world. He couldn’t leave Thessaloniki out of his stops and he talks very passionately about the city.
Ποια ήταν η πηγή έμπνευσης για τον τίτλο “Rooftop Stories”;
What was your source of inspiration for the title “Rooftop Stories”?
Τα τελευταία τρία χρόνια ταξιδεύω συνεχώς, κι έτσι αποφάσισα να δημιουργήσω ένα project που να αντικατοπτρίζει αυτή τη φάση της ζωής μου. Η ιδέα ξεκίνησε ως ένας συνδυασμός της μουσικής με τα ταξίδια, τα οποία μετατράπηκαν σε πηγή έμπνευσης για τον τίτλο του project. Τα “Rooftop Stories” είναι μία σειρά μουσικών κλιπ που βιντεοσκοπούνται σε διάφορες ταράτσες του κόσμου. Το πρώτο πραγματοποιήθηκε στην Αθήνα, το δεύτερο στο Λονδίνο, και ακολούθησαν η Αβάνα, το Τελ Αβίβ και το Ναγκασάκι. Ευελπιστώ πως ο επόμενος σταθμός θα είναι η Νέα Υόρκη. 66 66 66
I have been travelling constantly for the last three years, so I decided to create a project that reflects this time in my life. The idea started as a combination of music and travels, with the last ones turning into a source of inspiration for the project title. The “Rooftop Stories” are a series of music videos which are filmed in different rooftops of the world. The first one took place in Athens, the second one in London, and the next ones in Havana, Tel Aviv and Nagasaki. I hope the next stop will be New York.

INSIDER Στο νέο σας project, αφηγείστε μικρές μουσικές ιστορίες με τον ήχο του κοντραμπάσου και τη βοήθεια του video. Η δική σας ιστορία, πότε και πώς ξεκίνησε;
In your new project, you narrate short musical stories with the sound of contrabass and video aid. Your story, when and how did it begin?
Μεγάλωσα στη Ζάκυνθο, όπου συμμετείχα σε χορωδίες από την ηλικία των 5 ετών. Το πάθος μου για τη μουσική, όμως, ξεκίνησε όταν ήρθε στο σπίτι μας ένα αρμόνιο και άρχισε η αδερφή μου να κάνει μαθήματα πιάνου. Για πολλά χρόνια ασχολήθηκα με το κλασικό πιάνο, αλλά στα 16 μου στράφηκα στο ηλεκτρικό μπάσο, χάρη στον Γιώτη Κιουρτσόγλου. Μετά τη Ζάκυνθο, μετακόμισα για 5 χρόνια στην Αθήνα, και σε ηλικία 20 περίπου χρόνων αγάπησα το κοντραμπάσο και την τζαζ. Έπειτα συνέχισα τις σπουδές μου στο Άμστερνταμ, και ύστερα από 3 χρόνια βρέθηκα στη Νέα Υόρκη.
I grew up in Zakynthos, where I participated in choirs since I was 5 years old. Though, my passion for music was born, when a keyboard entered our household, and my sister started taking piano lessons. I was studying the classical piano for many years, but when I was 16, I turned to electrical bass thanks to Giotis Kiourtsoglou. After Zakynthos, I moved to Athens and lived there for 5 years. At about 20 years old, I fell in love with the contrabass and jazz. I continued my studies in Amsterdam, and three years later, I found myself in New York.
Οι συνθέσεις σας χαρακτηρίζονται από ένα κράμα διαφορετικών επιρροών. Πόσο εύκολα συνδυάζετε την τζαζ με τους ήχους των Βαλκανίων ή της Μεσογείου; Για έναν μουσικό που έχει μεγαλώσει στην Ελλάδα, θεωρώ ότι ένας τέτοιος συνδυασμός είναι μία πολύ ειλικρινής και φυσιολογική κίνηση. Γεωγραφικά και πολιτιστικά, βρισκόμαστε σε έναν τόπο όπου πνέουν πολλοί “άνεμοι”, διότι δεχόμαστε επιρροές από τα Βαλκάνια, την Ανατολή και τη Δύση. Προσωπικά, πάντοτε με ενδιέφερε περισσότερο η ανάμειξη των ελληνικών μουσικών ειδών, από την παραδοσιακή ή την ποπ που άκουγα ως έφηβος, μέχρι το έντεχνο και το ρεμπέτικο. Έχετε συναντήσει επί σκηνής κάποια από τα μεγαλύτερα διεθνή ονόματα του χώρου. Υπάρχει κάποια συνεργασία που ξεχωρίζετε; Η μία που ξεχωρίζω αρκετά είναι η ηχογράφηση του τελευταίου μου άλμπουμ “Chroma” με δύο σπουδαίους Ισραηλινούς νέους μουσικούς, τους Shai Maestro και Gilad Hekselman. Η δεύτερη συνεργασία είναι με τον Greg Osby, από τη δισκογραφική εταιρία του οποίου κυκλοφόρησαν οι δύο πρώτοι μου δίσκοι. Έχοντας ζήσει πολλά χρόνια στο εξωτερικό, επιδιώκετε να επισκέπτεστε συχνά την Ελλάδα;
Your compositions are marked by a mix of different influences. How easily do you combine jazz with the Balkan and the Mediterranean sounds? For a musician who has grown up in Greece, I consider such a combination a very sincere and natural choice. Geographically and culturally, we are in a land of many “winds”, as we are being influenced by the Balkans, the East, and the West. Personally, I was always more interested in the mixing of Greek music genres, from folklore or pop that I used to listen to as a teenager, to modern “artistic” music and rebetiko. You have shared the stage with some of the biggest international names of the scene. Do you have any collaboration that is more special to you? The one collaboration I set apart from the others is the recording of my latest album “Chroma” with two great young Israeli musicians, Shai Maestro and Gilad Hekselman. The other one is with Greg Osby, whose record company released my first two albums. You have lived abroad for many years. Do you seek to visit Greece often? In my work, the conciliation between the things I am taught abroad and what I learn in Greece is a fundamental element. So
Στη δουλειά μου, βασικό στοιχείο αποτελεί η συνδιαλλαγή ανάμεσα σε όσα διδάσκομαι στο εξωτερικό και όσα μαθαίνω στην Ελλάδα. Επομένως, όσο πηγή έμπνευσης είναι για μένα η Νέα Υόρκη, άλλο τόσο είναι και η Ελλάδα. Ερχόμενος εδώ, γεμίζω τις μπαταρίες μου και ανανεώνομαι. Ποια είναι η εμπειρία σας από το κοινό της Θεσσαλονίκης; Πάρα πολύ καλή! Η Θεσσαλονίκη είναι μία από τις αγαπημένες μου πόλεις με σημαντική καλλιτεχνική παραγωγή, οπότε φροντίζω πάντοτε να παρουσιάζω τη μουσική μου και εδώ. Μου αρέσει να περπατώ στην Εγνατία μέχρι το ύψος της Αριστοτέλους, από εκεί να κατεβαίνω στη Λεωφόρο Νίκης και να φτάνω στο Λευκό Πύργο. Η θέα του Θερμαϊκού με τον Όλυμπο είναι κάτι πραγματικά μαγευτικό. Τι κάνετε πάντα, όταν βρίσκεστε εδώ; Κάθε φορά που έρχομαι, φροντίζω να επισκέπτομαι κάποιο ουζερί στις στοές της Αριστοτέλους και να ενημερώνομαι για τη 68 68 68

Είναι ένα τρίο άλμπουμ στο οποίο υπογράφω τη σύνθεση και την παραγωγή, ενώ συμμετέχουν οι Kristjan Randalu και Bodek Janke. Τον Απρίλιο διοργανώσαμε μία καμπάνια για την προώθησή του και θα ακολουθήσουν πολλές εμφανίσεις στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό. Έχετε κάποιο καλλιτεχνικό απωθημένο; Μία συνεργασία που θα θέλατε πολύ αλλά δεν έχετε πραγματοποιήσει ακόμα; Η πρώτη είναι με τον Πετρολούκα Χαλκιά, διότι πάντοτε ονειρευόμουν να δέσω το νεοϋορκέζικο ήχο και την ελληνική μουσική παράδοση. Η δεύτερη είναι με τον Γάλλο ακορντεονίστα Richard Galliano, έναν αυτοσχεδιαστή που συνδυάζει το γαλλικό βαλς με την τζαζ και world μουσική. 70 70 70

Greece is as much an inspiration for me as New York is. Coming here recharges and rejuvenates me. What is your experience with the audience in Thessaloniki? A very good one! Thessaloniki is one of my favourite cities, with a significant art production, so I always make sure I present my music here as well. What is your favourite route in the city? I like walking down Egnatia Street up to Aristotelous Square. From there, I go downhill to Nikis Avenue and walk up to the White Tower. The view of Mount Olympus from the Thermaic Gulf is truly something captivating. What do you always do, when you are here? Every time I come here, I make sure to visit one of the taverns in the galleries of Aristotelous Square, and get an update on your music scene. The city has many young artists with passion, and this impresses me positively. After concluding your “Rooftop Stories” tour, what are your next plans? In October, I am releasing my new album titled “Irrationalities”. It’s a trio album, in which I hold the arrangement and production, and it also features Kristjan Randalu and Bodek Janke. In April, we planned a campaign for its promotion, followed by many appearances in Greece and abroad. Do you have any artistic repressed desires? Any much desired collaboration that you haven’t fulfilled yet? The first one is with Petroloukas Chalkias, because I always dreamed of combining the New York sound with the Greek music tradition. The second one is with the French accordionist Richard Galliano, an improviser who combines the French waltz with jazz and world music.

Η ένωση, σαν έννοια, έχει πάντα θετικό πρόσημο. Δίνει δύναμη, απελευθερώνει δυναμικές, δημιουργεί προοπτική. Για αυτό και η πολυσυζητημένη ενοποίηση των μεγάλων μουσείων της Θεσσαλονίκης σε έναν ενιαίο φορέα έγινε δεκτή με ενθουσιασμό, όχι μόνο από το κοινό της πόλης, αλλά και από τον ευρύτερο πολιτιστικό χώρο. Ο νεοσύστατος Μητροπολιτικός Οργανισμός Μουσείων Εικαστικών Τεχνών Θεσσαλονίκης εγκαινιάστηκε μόλις στα τέλη του περασμένου Μαρτίου και αποτελεί αναμφισβήτητα ένα καινοτόμο μοντέλο για τη λειτουργία και άλλων αντίστοιχων πολιτιστικών φορέων στην Ελλάδα.
Union, as a concept, is always positively charged. It gives power, it releases dynamics, it creates perspective. Therefore it came as no surprise that the long awaited integration of Thessaloniki's major visual arts museums into one single institution was enthusiastically received, not only by the city’s art audience, but also by the country’s wider cultural world. The newly established Metropolitan Organization of Museums of Visual Arts of Thessaloniki was only inaugurated last March and is undoubtedly an innovative model, setting the example for the operation of other similar cultural institutions in Greece.

Thessaloniki, the Museum of Modern Art - Costakis Collection, the Museum of Contemporary Art - Collections of the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art and the State Museum of Contemporary Art, the Thessaloniki Museum of Photography and the Experimental Center for the Arts, as well as the Alex Mylonas Museum in Athens. The road to the union was long, and passed through many years of creative fermentation and countless hours of discussions. According to Maria Tsantsanoglou, Debuty Director of MOMus and Director of MOMus - Museum of Modern Art - Costakis Collection, "the operational model was based on very innovative examples from abroad, which focus on the parallel artistic activity of different institutions, without administrative hierarchical exaggerations, within a context of co-operation, self-control and self- organization."

CULTURE Τέχνη χωρίς σύνορα Το MOMus συνολικά διαθέτει συλλογές δεκάδων χιλιάδων έργων τέχνης, τόσο από την ελληνική όσο και από τη διεθνή καλλιτεχνική σκηνή, που καλύπτουν όλα τα εικαστικά μέσα. Όπως έχει χαρακτηριστικά αναφέρει ο Πρόεδρος του Δ.Σ., Ανδρέας Τάκης, “υπάρχει ένα εκρηκτικό υλικό ως προς τη σπουδαιότητα και το μέγεθος των συλλογών τέχνης, του δυναμικού και της εμπειρίας. Δίνουν έναν αέρα αυτενέργειας καλλιτεχνικού προγραμματισμού σε άλλο πια επίπεδο και σίγουρα μακράν του εθνικού”. Η διοργάνωση εκθέσεων στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό, η δυναμική ανάπτυξη και προβολή όλου του φάσματος των εικαστικών και εφαρμοσμένων τεχνών, της αισθητικής καλλιέργειας, της ιστορικής μελέτης και επιστημονικής έρευνας, αλλά και η ενίσχυση της εκπαιδευτικής διάστασης της τέχνης, είναι στους άμεσους στόχους του νέου φορέα. Σύμφωνα με τη Συραγώ Τσιάρα, αν. Διευθύντρια MOMus-Μουσείο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης-Συλλογές Μ.Μ.Σ.Τ. και Κ.Μ.Σ.Τ., το εγχείρημα αυτό “είναι ένα στοίχημα για το πώς μπορούμε να προχωρήσουμε στο μέλλον αξιοποιώντας το κοινό πολιτιστικό μας απόθεμα με τον καλύτερο τρόπο. Δεν περιορίζεται απλώς σε μια αποτελεσματικότερη διαχείριση πόρων, εγκαταστάσεων και ανθρώπινου δυναμικού, αλλά προτείνει ένα νέο παράδειγμα συλλογικής δράσης με στόχους, εξειδίκευση της φυσιογνωμίας του κάθε φορέα και προοπτική”. Έκαστο... στο είδος του Μπορεί οι στόχοι να είναι συλλογικοί, αλλά κάθε μουσείο διατηρεί τη δική του ταυτότητα. Συγκεκριμένα, το Μουσείο Μοντέρνας Τέχνης διαχειρίζεται και προβάλλει τις συλλογές έως το 1960 και κυρίως την σημαντική συλλογή Κωστάκη με έργα Ρωσικής Πρωτοπορίας. Το Μουσείο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης παρουσιάζει τις σημαντικές συλλογές από το 1960 έως σήμερα των πρώην Κ.Μ.Σ.Τ. και Μ.Μ. Σ.Τ., διοργανώνοντας και τη Μπιενάλε Σύγχρονης Τέχνης Θεσσαλονίκης. Art without borders MOMus features collections of tens of thousands of works of art, both from the Greek and the international art scene, covering the whole spectrum of visual arts. As noted by the Chairman of the Board, Andreas Takis, "there is an explosive wealth of material regarding the importance and the size of the art collections, the potential and the experience. They give an air of self-acting and take artistic planning to another level, and certainly far from the national one." The organization of exhibitions in Greece and abroad, the dynamic development and promotion of the whole range of visual and applied arts, aesthetic cultivation, historical study and scientific research, as well as the enhancement of the educational dimension of art, are some of the direct aims of the new organisation. According to Syrago Tsiara, Debuty Director of MOMus - Museum of Contemporary Art, this undertaking "is a bet on how we can move towards the future, by making the most out of our common cultural stock. It is not limited only to issues of a more efficient management of facilities and human resources, but proposes a new example of collective action with common objectives, while enhancing each museum's special physiognomy and perspective." United, yet unique The goals may be collective, but each museum retains its own identity. More specifically, the Museum of Modern Art manages and promotes the collections until 1960 and, in particular, the renowned Costakis Collection, featuring works of Russian avant-garde. The Museum of Contemporary Art presents the important collections from 1960 until today, and it also organizes the Thessaloniki Contemporary Art Bienalle. The Experimental Center for the Arts focuses on the laboratory and experimental character of art. The Thessaloniki Museum of Photography aims to promote the photographic art scene and organizes the Photobienalle, while the Alex Mylonas Museum in Athens focuses mainly on the contemporary role of sculpture. People have the power Quite expectedly, collectiveness is MOMus’s greatest virtue. Its people make the big difference. Now a great opportunity has risen for their people to learn from each other, to share experiences and knowledge on a practical level. " She herself hopes that this osmosis will lead to very fruitful results, which will set the example of a modern museum policy for the whole country’s cultural sector.

A new pole attraction
Η συλλογικότητα είναι εύλογα το μεγάλο πλεονέκτημα του φορέα. Οι δε άνθρωποί του είναι αυτοί που κάνουν τη διαφορά. Έμπειρα και καταρτισμένα στελέχη που εργάζονται ομαδικά σε ένα πρόσφορο έδαφος, που ενθαρρύνει και τις προσωπικές πρωτοβουλίες. Η Μαρία Κοκορότσκου, αν. Διευθύντρια Μουσείο Φωτογραφίας Θεσσαλονίκης, τονίζει ότι “τα Μουσεία που συνενώθηκαν έχουν μια μακρά ιστορία συνεργασιών μεταξύ τους. Τώρα δίνεται η μεγάλη ευκαιρία στους ανθρώπους τους να μάθουν ο ένας από τον άλλον, να μοιραστούν εμπειρίες και γνώσεις σε πρακτικό πια επίπεδο”. Η ίδια προσδοκά μέσα από αυτή την όσμωση να βγει κάτι πολύ δυνατό, που θα αποτελέσει παράδειγμα σύγχρονης μουσειακής πολιτικής για ολόκληρη την Ελλάδα.
Art in all its aspects has always been a point of reference in Thessaloniki. Today, the city's cultural landscape is more exciting than ever before. Both citizens and visitors know that systematic work is being done in the field of modern art. They form a demanding audience, driven by high expectations. "We are confident that MOMus will stand as a new pole of attraction for many art lovers from all over Europe and we work hard to prove it," Mrs. Tsansanoglou notes. Ένας νέος πόλος έλξης Η τέχνη σε όλες της τις εκφάνσεις πάντα αποτελούσε σημείο αναφοράς στη Θεσσαλονίκη. Σήμερα, το πολιτιστικό τοπίο της πόλης εμφανίζεται πιο συναρπαστικό από ποτέ. Restart", will be hosted throughout summer. From the end of September and alongside the 7th Thessaloniki Contemporary Art Biennale, there will be a tribute to the artist Ljubov Popova, one of the most important representatives of the Russian avant-garde, entitled "Painter, Author, Designer, Teacher". Museum of Contemporary Art: A series of historical and thematic exhibitions is being launched as part of the comprehensive study of contemporary art collections from the State Museum of Contemporary Art and Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art. The first exhibition of the series "WITHOUT TITLE I, Greek Post-war Abstraction: Choices from the Collections of MOMus" (until 15.09) will be a tribute to Greek Abstraction, including paintings, sculptures and engravings of important Greek artists.

Alex Mylonas Museum: The exhibition "WITHOUT TITLE II, Hellenic Post-War Abstraction: The Heroic Years" will present works from MOMus collections, as well as loans from major foreign institutions (29.05-15.09). Thessaloniki Museum of Photography: The exhibition "Young Greek Photographers, 2010-2018", will stand as a mapping of the artistic quests of contemporary Greek photography, through the work of 32 young artists, from the last eight editions of the Athens Photo Festival. A series of educational photographic workshops for children and adolescents are scheduled in June-September, as well as the second round of the “ViewMaster” Visual Seminar. Experimental Center for the Arts: The center will be presenting a series of exhibitions and events, such as the Beethoven 2020 workshop and the Audiovisual Symphonies, a series of inventive works and concerts where artists from Germany will collaborate with Greek musicians of modern electro-acoustic music (15 to 26.05), as well as the Thessaloniki Queer Arts Festival, with artistic events and performances on gender issues (7 to 23.06). Umbrellas George Zongolopoulos’s “Umbrellas” is one of the landmark artworks in Thessaloniki. Their story began in 1995, when they represented Greece in the Venice Biennale. In 1997, they were installed in the New Seafront, when Thessaloniki was the Cultural Capital of Europe. Today, they have been established as a favourite meeting point among the inhabitants of the city. Thanks to their free structure, visitors can move between them, touch them, and make them a part of their daily lives, according to their creator’s wish.

Φεγγαράκι στην ακτή Η σελήνη και η μυστηριώδης ομορφιά της έχουν αποτελέσει πηγή έμπνευσης για αναρίθμητους καλλιτέχνες. Ο Παύλος Βασιλειάδης έδωσε στη Θεσσαλονίκη τη δική του εκδοχή αυτού του ουράνιου σώματος το 1997, όταν δημιούργησε το «Φεγγαράκι στην Ακτή». Αφού ταξίδεψε από τη Χαλκιδική μέχρι το Σαν Τροπέ, το μινιμαλιστικό μισοφέγγαρο επέστρεψε στη Θεσσαλονίκη το 2010 και τοποθετήθηκε στη Νέα Παραλία. Φέτος, βρήκε το νέο του σπίτι στα νερά του Θερμαϊκού, από όπου αναδύεται για να χαρίσει φως στις νύχτες της πόλης.
Άγαλμα Μεγάλου Αλεξάνδρου Το 315 π.Χ. ο Κάσσανδρος ίδρυσε τη Θεσσαλονίκη δίνοντάς της το όνομα της αδερφής του Μεγάλου Αλεξάνδρου. 24 αιώνες αργότερα, το 1974, ο Ευάγγελος Μουστάκας απέδωσε φόρο τιμής στον μεγάλο στρατηλάτη, κατασκευάζοντας ένα μπρούτζινο άγαλμα του έφιππου Αλεξάνδρου και πλαισιώνοντάς το με ασπίδες, σάρισες και μία ανάγλυφη αναπαράσταση της Μάχης της Ισσού. Με ύψος 11 μέτρα, συνιστά ένα από τα χαρακτηριστικότερα μνημεία της Θεσσαλονίκης, ενώ λειτουργεί ως σημείο σύγκλισης ανάμεσα στην αρχαία και τη σύγχρονη ιστορία της. 92 92 92
Moon on the shore The moon and its mysterious beauty have been a source of inspiration for countless artists. Pavlos Vasiliadis offered to Thessaloniki his version of this celestial body in 1997, when he created the “Feggaraki stin Akti” (“Moon on the Shore”). After it travelled from Chalkidiki to Saint Tropez, the minimalistic crescent moon returned to Thessaloniki in 2010 and was placed in the New Seafront. This year, it found its new home in the waters of the Thermaic Gulf, from where it surfaces to gift light to the city nights.
Alexander the Great monument In 315 B.C., Cassander founded Thessaloniki, naming it after the sister of Alexander the Great. 24 centuries later, in 1974, Evangelos Moustakas paid tribute to the great general, by building a brass statue of Alexander on his horse and surrounding it with shields, sarissas and a carved representation of the battle of Issus. 11 meters in height, it is one of the most distinctive monuments of Thessaloniki, while it works as a point of convergence between its ancient and modern history.

Γλυπτική διαμόρφωση Φιλόλαου Τλούπα Το 1992, το Μακεδονικό Μουσείο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης μετακόμισε από το εργοστάσιο της «Φίλκεραμ-Johnson» σε ένα από τα περίπτερα της Διεθνούς Έκθεσης Θεσσαλονίκης. Θέλοντας να προσδώσει μια καλλιτεχνική νότα στον εξωτερικό χώρο, ο Φιλόλαος Τλούπας μετέβη από το Παρίσι για να δημιουργήσει μία ξεχωριστή γλυπτική διαμόρφωση στο προαύλιο του μουσείου. Το έργο ολοκληρώθηκε το 1998 και, ως αναπόσπαστο πλέον κομμάτι του μουσείου, το μικρό αμφιθέατρο με τα χαρακτηριστικά γλυπτά – θάμνους λειτουργεί ως χώρος ανάπαυσης για τους επισκέπτες των εκθέσεων σύγχρονης τέχνης.
Sculptural structure by Philolaos Tloupas In 1992, the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art was transferred from the “Philkeram-Johnson” factory to a pavilion of the Thessaloniki International Fair. Aiming to offer an artistic ambiance to the museum’s exterior, Paris-based artist Philolaos Tloupas returned to Thessaloniki and designed a unique sculptural structure in the courtyard area. The project was completed in 1998 and it became an integral part of the museum. Today, modern art enthusiasts can relax among the bush-shaped sculptures located within the small amphitheatrical complex.

Το MOMus – Μουσείο Φωτογραφίας Θεσσαλονίκης φιλοξενεί στον χώρο της Αποθήκης A' την έκθεση «Νέοι Έλληνες Φωτογράφοι | 2010-2018», στην οποία παρουσιάζονται τα έργα 32 σύγχρονων δημιουργών που, κατά την περίοδο 2010-2018, έλαβαν μέρος στις διοργανώσεις της ετήσιας έκθεσης «Νέοι Έλληνες Φωτογράφοι». Μέσα από τον φακό τους αντανακλώνται οι προσανατολισμοί και οι αναζητήσεις της νέας γενιάς της ελληνικής φωτογραφίας, ενώ ταυτόχρονα επιχειρείται μία χαρτογράφηση των καλλιτεχνικών ανησυχιών της. Η έκθεση πραγματοποιείται σε συνδιοργάνωση με το Ελληνικό Κέντρο Κινηματογράφου και εντάσσεται στο πλαίσιο του Athens Photo Festival 2019.
The MOMus-Thesssaloniki Museum of Photography hosts the exhibition “Greek Young Photographers | 2010-2018” in Warehouse A. It presents the works of 32 modern creators that, during 2010-2018, participated in the events of the annual exhibition “Greek Young Photographers.” The directions and pursuits of the new generation in Greek photography are reflected through their lenses, while, at the same time, a mapping of their artistic dreams is attempted. The exhibition is co-organized in association with the Greek Film Centre within the framework of the Athens Photo Festival 2019.

Η νέα αυτή γιορτή πολιτισμού, που διοργανώνεται υπό την αιγίδα της UNESCO, θα φιλοξενήσει μεταξύ άλλων έξι παραγωγές και δέκα παραστάσεις με 325 καλλιτέχνες από τους χώρους της μουσικής, του θεάτρου και της ποίησης.
In July, the inner yard of Eptapyrgio transforms to welcome the first “Eptapyrgio Festival.” This new cultural event, which is organized with the support of UNESCO, will host, among others, six productions and ten performances with 325 artists from the musical, theatrical and poetical scenes.

The multilayered relationship between Nikos Kazantzakis and the Byzantine world is depicted in the exhibition “Kazantzakis and Byzantium: The Quest for the Divine.” It consists of rare exhibits and is organized by the Museum of Byzantine Culture in Thessaloniki and the Museum of Nikos Kazantzakis in Crete.

This summer, Fix Factory of Sound Open Air hosts outstanding concerts for all tastes. On the 7th of June, the beloved James will return to the city. Φέτος, ο θεσμός συμπληρώνει 15 χρόνια ζωής και γιορτάζει με μία επετειακή έκδοση γεμάτη live, workshops, forum και πολλές μουσικές εκπλήξεις.
Autumn in the city starts with a big tribute to electronic music. Late in September, Thessaloniki welcomes the most important international artists at Reworks Festival. This year, the institution closes 15 years of life and celebrates with an anniversary edition full of lives, workshops, forums and many more musical surprises.

Κάθε καλοκαίρι, η Θεσσαλονίκη υποδέχεται τους επισκέπτες της με τις καλύτερες εκδηλώσεις από τον χώρο της τέχνης και του πολιτισμού. Η γνωριμία με την πόλη σίγουρα ξεκινά με μια επίσκεψη στο Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο Θεσσαλονίκης, η μόνιμη συλλογή του οποίου αφηγείται την ιστορία της Μακεδονίας από την προϊστορική εποχή έως και την ύστερη αρχαιότητα. Σταθμό-ορόσημο αποτελεί και ο Λευκός Πύργος, όπου στεγάζεται η μόνιμη έκθεση με θέμα τη μακραίωνη ιστορία της Θεσσαλονίκης. Εναλλακτικός τρόπος για να γνωρίσετε την πόλη είναι και οι θεματικές ξεναγήσεις της Thessaloniki Walking Tours. Από τις καλοκαιρινές εκδηλώσεις δεν θα μπορούσε να λείπει το Φεστιβάλ Δάσους, που διοργανώνεται από το Κρατικό Θέατρο Βορείου Ελλάδος από τον Ιούνιο έως τον Σεπτέμβριο και δίνει στο κοινό την ευκαιρία να παρακολουθήσει κορυφαίες παραγωγές θεάτρου, μουσικής και χορού. Σε θεατρικούς «ρυθμούς» κινείται και ο Δήμος Θεσσαλονίκης με τις Γιορτές Ανοιχτού Θεάτρου, μια σειρά παραστάσεων που πραγματοποιούνται στο Δημοτικό Θέατρο Κήπου καθ’ όλη τη διάρκεια του Ιουλίου. Τον Αύγουστο, οι λάτρεις της έβδομης τέχνης μπορούν να ανέβουν σε επιλεγμένες ταράτσες του ιστορικού κέντρου και να παρακολουθήσουν ξεχωριστές ταινίες μικρού και μεγάλου μήκους από το Taratsa International Film Festival. Τέλος, κάθε Ιούνιο, η Νέα Παραλία φιλοξενεί το ιστορικό Φεστιβάλ Βιβλίου, όπου οι φίλοι της λογοτεχνίας μπορούν να αναζητήσουν χιλιάδες τίτλους από την ελληνική και την ξένη βιβλιοπαραγωγή.
Every summer, Thessaloniki welcomes its guests with the best art and cultural events. Meeting the city certainly starts with a visit to the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, whose permanent collection narrates the history of Macedonia since prehistoric times up until late antiquity. Also, a landmark stop is the White Tower, where the permanent exhibition concerning the centuries-old history of Thessaloniki is housed. An alternative way to get to know the city is the guided tours of Thessaloniki Walking Tours. Dassοus Festival could not be missing from the summer events. It is held by the National Theatre of Northern Greece from June to September and offers the audience the chance to watch great theatrical, musical and dance productions. The Municipality of Thessaloniki follows the theatrical “vibes” with the Open Theatre Fests, a series of performances that take place in the Kipou Theatre (Municipal Garden Theatre) throughout July. In August, the cinema lovers can climb up to a few chosen rooftops in the historical centre and watch special short and feature films, courtesy of the Taratsa International Film Festival. Finally, every June, the New Waterfront (Nea Paralia) hosts the historic Book Festival, where the friends of literature can seek thousands of titles of the Greek and foreign book production.

For the skin, moisturizing means glow, elasticity and silk texture. Raise a protective shield against the elements which attack the skin and dehydrate it, like the sun and sea salt, with face and body products suitable for this season. It is not random that in the latest years, experts enrich cosmetic compounds with ingredients that achieve deep and immediate moisturizing, like aloe vera, hyaluronic acid, peptides and provitamin B5 or panthenol. Moreover, equip your boudoir with products for increased and targeted moisturizing which also contain antioxidants (vitamins C and E, vitamin B complex, calendula, polyphenols, carotenoids), like the handy face mists in a spray form, serums and face masks. During the summer months, you must also not neglect inner hydration! Increase the consumption of water, fruits and vegetables, natural juices, tea, various herbal infusions and imbibe cool soups, salads and tasty smoothies daily. EXTRA TIP: Face mask with watermelon A homemade recipe for coolness, moisturizing and irritation relief. HOW TO: For the mixture, you will need 2 tbsp. cucumber juice, 2 tbsp. watermelon juice, 1 tsp. yogurt and 1 tsp. powder milk. Mix the ingredients and apply the mask on your face for 15 minutes. Wash off completely with cool water.

Φροντίστε για την προστασία τους χρησιμοποιώντας ειδικά προϊόντα που θα βρείτε στην αγορά και τα κομμωτήρια σε διάφορες υφές και συνθέσεις, πιο ενισχυμένες ή πιο light, ανάλογα με το είδος της τρίχας και το μήκος των μαλλιών σας. Covering a 40 year period (1980-2018), the Designing Women exhibition in the National Gallery of Victoria in Southbank, Australia, brings to the fore the great role of female designers in the international scene, and how they managed to form modern aesthetics, as we know it today. From architecture and industrial designing to fashion designing, more than 50 exhibits by top names, like Zaha Hadid, Neri Oxman, Elliat Rich and Helen Kontouris, reveal the exceptional look and feminine dynamism. Just an illusion Ο διάσημος street artist JR, δημιούργησε με 2000 αυτοκόλλητα ένα τεράστιο κολάζ στο σημείο της εμβληματικής πυραμίδας του Λούβρου, το οποίο από μακριά έδινε την εντύπωση ότι υπήρχε στο σημείο εκείνο γκρεμός. Το έργο τέχνης θα φέρει τίτλο L’Arc de Triomphe Wrapped και θα εκτεθεί σε κοινή θέα από τις 6 έως τις 19 Απριλίου 2020. Μαζί με την εξίσου γνωστή καλλιτέχνιδα Jeanne Claude, είχαν τυλίξει τη Νέα Γέφυρα του Παρισιού το 1975, ενώ είκοσι χρόνια αργότερα, το 1995, το Κτίριο του Ράιχσταγκ στο Βερολίνο.
The artist Christo announced that, next spring, he will wrap the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, with 25,000 sq m of blue fabric made of recycled materials, and with 7,000 meters of red rope as well. The artwork will be titled L’ Arc de Triomphe Wrapped and will be exhibited in public from April 6 through 19 in 2020. Along with the equally famous artist JeanneClaude, they had wrapped the Pont Neuf in Paris in 1975, and 20 years later, in 1995, the building of Reichstag in Berlin.
