Het is gebaseerd op een meerjarig onderzoek onder dragers en makers naar de beleving en techniek van deze bijzondere dracht. Persoonlijke verhalen, sfeervolle foto’s en anekdotes, afgewisseld met essays van verschillende deskundigen, geven een inkijk in hoe het dragen van de dracht iemand in staat stelt verbinding te maken met anderen, met het verleden en met de toekomst.

Ella Broek (Ottoland, 1980) is kostuummaker en antropoloog en momenteel associate researcher bij het Research Centre for Material Culture.

Michelle Piergoelam (Rotterdam, 1997) is kunstfotograaf, afgestudeerd aan de Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten in Den Haag.
