Welcome to the June issue of Kiwi Rider. This is something of an occasion. 30 years ago, an upstart publication slithered through the mud and onto the Kiwi dirt-biking scene. That publication was Kiwi Dirt Rider. Yes folks, the dirt side of KR is 30 years old this month! We’re generally not too into blowing our own trumpet but we think it’s justified. As far as we know - and we’ve asked a few people in the know too – KR is the only magazine to have been on the market non-stop without being bought or sold for 30 years; and that’s any market, not just in New Zealand. So, we’d like to thank you for putting up with us over the years (we mean ‘Vege’ specifically),

Macna Geo 2 Jacket The Geo 2 is a refinement of the popular Macna Geo, still using a three-layer system with a separately detachable waterproof membrane and thermo liner. Schuberth C3 Pro helmet Schuberth designed the C3 Pro as the only premium flip-up that performs as a sports helmet. Available in white, gloss black or matte black, it’s compact and comes in two helmet shell sizes. It’s also light, at around 1570g including sun visor and antennae. Wind tunnel development led to a helmet designed to be pendulumneutral even at high speeds, with outstanding aerodynamic properties promised even at over 160kph. And then there are the acoustics. EBC V-Pad EBC V-Pads brake pads use a new formula that contains over 30 per cent copper by weight. The aim was to construct a longer lasting pad, that’s claimed as the world’s first semi-sintered pad to deliver powerful braking and longer wear life comparable with fully sintered pads. A new heat fusion process is aimed at bonding the V-Pad compound under heat and pressure (similar to the full sintering process) to allow the addition of copper and carbon particles that should extend the V-Pad’s useful life aboard your bike. We’re told V-Pads combine the long life typical of a fully sintered pad with the low brake disc abrasion (low rotor galling) features of an organic pad, so they should be ideal for all types of hardened or non-hardened brake rotor material. DG 2091 Dirt Guide Scissor lift stand This is a new and improved Scissor Lift with a hand release valve, and was designed to lift your motocross bike to a comfortable work height. This means no more working on your knees, so there’s a foot pedal to raise the stand to any height you desire, from 370mm to 900mm off the ground. Made from a heavy-duty powdercoated steel frame, with a large oil drain hole and a gas-resistant rubber-top platform measuring 410 by 346mm, its maximum specifications promise a lifting capacity of 450kg, so this lift is billed as ready for any MX garage. Zeta FP Clutch Lever This Zeta lever assembly is the type currently used by both Cody Cooper and Brad Groombridge, and it features a high-quality rotating clutch perch with an FP clutch lever. That clutch perch is made of CNCmachined A7009 aluminium, while the lever arm is manufactured from forged aluminium for durable construction, and to improve its suitability for competitive use in MX or enduros. Change the position of this lever’s ratio device to access two different lever ratios, for light pulling or accurate clutch control, and it also features an adjustable bolt and quick cable adjuster so you can rapidly and easily adjust clutch play even during a ride. Zeta says this lever provides the best lever position for any hand size, and its quick hinge-style clamp system should ensure easy and quick maintenance.
