With the price of petrol seeing a rising trend and the average cost now consistently above $2 per litre, many are turning to two wheels as a way to commute more economically. Even the largest capacity machines have cars beaten in the kilometres per litre stakes and the lightest fuel sippers can return phenomenal economy. Michael Esdaile, our getting to work guru, has been looking at three different options for those wanting to cut their fuel bills. Why not commute to work on your bike this summer and enjoy the journey and save money at the same time. See page 22 for more. This month’s No.8 Wire is an interesting
machine. It’s the second of two Suzuki GS1000R XR69s Graeme Crosby had available to win the World TT F1 title. Originally sold to a collector in the USA, the bike is now in the UK. Deep in the KR archive we found some unused pictures of the inside of Crosby’s other XR69, so we’ve dusted off the transparencies and stuck them in for good measure. Enjoy. We’ve got more bikes in this issue than I’ve got space to write about but the KTM Freeride, Honda CRF450 and KX85 have got the dirt guys more than a little hot under the collar.
