Born on February 8th 1931, in Marion, Indiana, USA, James Dean’s rise to fame was epitomised with the film ‘Rebel Without a Cause’. However, Dean will also be remembered with the way he has continued to capture the world with his casual style, unflinching look and rebel attitude. James Dean has defined the essence of cool and rebellious attitude for generations. His passion for Triumph was a personal pleasure and not a prop for any films, making him an authentic Triumph riding legend like McQueen and Brando. Dean was heavily influenced by Brando and his part in ‘The Wild One’ which led him to purchase a Triumph of his own. He actually owned two Triumphs, a 1955 Tiger 110 followed by his most famous bike, a 1955 Trophy TR5, purchased from Ted Evans Motorcycles of Culver City. In shell blue, James Dean heavily customised the bike, including a back to front pillion seat, high bars and custom fenders, mimicking Brando’s own bike that he rode during the famous biker movie The James Dean Special Edition Jacket (RRP $849) is inspired by the type of jackets he wore when riding his Triumph. This aviator style jacket is constructed from 1.2mm high grade darkbrown cowhide.
