"The sea is calm tonight.
 HIGH The tideMARINA is full, the moon lies fair
 Upon the straits; on the French coast the light
 Gleams and is gone; the cliffs of England stand,
 Glimmering and vast, out in the tranquil bay. ... Ah, love, let us be true
 To one another! for the world, which seems
 To lie before us like a land of dreams,
 So various, so beautiful, so new,
 Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light,
 Nor certitude, nor peace, nor help for pain;
 V Oare here as on a darkling plain
 And we L. Swept with1 ,confused alarms of struggle and IS SU flight,

APRIL SHOE APPEARANCES

Every month more and more shoes come out. Whether it be from Adidas, Nike, or Yeezy there's always new shoes. New colors of the Yeezy 350 or the Nike Air Max 720, or maybe a new adaptation of an Air Force they are launching this month. Nike Air Max 720 has been a popular choice for sneakerheads recently, and with these new colors coming out Nike sure is enjoying the hype. The first new colorway doesn’t have a special name but it is a black and gray ombre type creation. It comes out on March 16 and is for more of the plain type of person. The second color is called “Retro-Future” and the name hits it right on the dot. It has an almost metallic type black cloth on it and then a clear blue detailing. The “Throwback Future” is almost the same but the black is more matte and the clear parts are almost brown. The last Air Max 720 is called “Sand Dune” and the name says it all: yellow and gold with black detailing. Nike is also coming out with a new line called “Noise Cancelling” and it puts a new adaptation on some classic Nike shoes. It takes the Cortez and Air Force and changes the Nike sign to a stitched-on Nike sign. It even has the extra “needle string” hanging off the side. It is the full white version of both shoes and as far as I can tell it only comes in white. This would be a nice shoe to have just to make a statement but other than that I don’t know why you would wear them on a normal day. Yeezy is making 2019 their year because just in the month of March they have three new colorways of their two best selling shoes. First, they have 2 new colorways of the Yeezy 350 Boost V2. The first one is “True Form” and it is a tan and gray shoe with coral detailing. Then they have the “Hyperspace” colorway and they are just stunning; a white shoe with tan detailing and just a pinch of love is the only way to describe this shoe. The last release for Yeezy in March is the Yeezy Boost 700 V2 in the colorway “Geode”, it's pretty much the “True Form” 350 but just darker. The last launch I am going to talk about is about the cutest shoe I have seen! The frog skateboard collaboration has its new adaptation of the Nike blazer. It has a leather type texture outside with a frog poking out of Nike sign. Then the laces have little ladybugs on them. The best part is that it supposedly only cost $95. Those are some of the launches of March, these are just the ones that caught my attention. If you want to read more on these I get all my information on Sneaker News and Hypebeast. Thank you for reading and see you next time.

APRIL: THE LAST STRETCH Alright Mariners, time to kick it in. April is the month of kicking butt. Sports are in full-swing, trips are happening left and right. Performances, tests, and studying are all at high-throttle, and are only going to get faster. Sounds chaotic, right? Well, not really. Despite the seemingly endless stream of events, April is perhaps the calmest month of them all. April is widely known as a month of peace and progressivism, not of wild disturbance and stress. Within each aspect of the month, there is a little metaphor to which we can adhere to and continue striving for to be the person we constantly seek to be. The first of the metaphors (get it? first?) comes on April 1st, otherwise known as April Fool’s Day. The day of pranks, and jokes, and lack of seriousness. It is a day of fun and whimsy. If you attribute these traits to the mindset of a student, it adds up; starting off goofy, taking all things as a joke, and yet still somehow worried that everything is one big prank. This stage has two main resolutions –– adopt it, or get over it. Life is not a joke, and when one puts themselves into the mindset that only funny things happen, no progress will be made, and no truth will be observed. April 12th is the International Day of Human Space Flight. This day is a reminder of human beings’ capabilities and strength, persevering through the impossible. Ironically, this holiday is too often critically ignored. As a reflection of daily life, we are presented with the encouragement we need to shoot for the stars and explore the extraordinary. We can either take the hint and get our butts to the light of the stars, or ignore the holiday’s meaning and importance, continuing to struggle in the dark. Your choice. Earth Day is an international holiday celebrated on April 22nd. It is a day of peace, coming together to save what we all have in common, a note of the goodness within every human heart, and the shared experiences of everyone –– a day of calm realization. To us, whether celebrating the holiday or not, this day represents our final choice to better ourselves, and stay continuously impassioned with our chosen lives. Even so, the day can represent a positive change for the better, and an ultimate deep concern for the things we need and hold dear. These holidays can guide us through the month, reminding us that our struggles have resolutions, that we can take breaks, and that the eye-opening world presents us with so many incredible opportunities if we only work for it. It is our choice, and our choice alone, to act upon these worldly things.

DECISIONS, DECISIONS! As a senior at Marina High School, I can say that the last few weeks of March were highly anticipated and honestly passed by like a brief thunderstorm. Seniors from across the country have waited for mid-march to finally hear back from the colleges they applied to in the fall and winter. However, now that this period has passed, we leave ourselves trying to understand what the college decisions mean for us. Any acceptance or rejection means that we have decisions to make. Firstly, for those who were accepted into their colleges, CONGRATULATIONS! I hope you can take your time celebrating this wonderful achievement. You have truly worked hard and your effort has nearly paid off. Next, for those who were rejected or better put “redirected,” know that a college decision letter in no way measures your ability or even potential as a human being. The college admissions process is full of people who make decisions based on their own assumptions and life experiences by looking at a couple of short essays meant to summarize your entire life! In reality, schools try to pick students that they think would best fit their student environment. A “redirection” means that a college simply thinks you could benefit from an education elsewhere. In addition, the next phase of life for us high school students will not be defined by the ranking of our college or its connections. As students we are not just empty vessels waiting to be filled by the prestige of a college. We are individuals whose success depends far more on how smart we work and how dedicated we are than on the campus we receive a diploma from. Regardless of what our outcome was, we all know that our future education is something we need to plan for. Big decisions means we must reflect on our values and aspirations as individuals. Ask friends and family about what school they see you best fitting into and how they can help you. Especially make sure to talk to your counselor when reading financial aid awards and college options. Now is the time when you are in control of the college process. Now is the time to be optimistic about the opportunities that lay before you.
